Something that generates discomfort due to the mix of flesh, metal, carcasses of other toys, along with a static, expressionless human-childlike face.
I tried to make it similar to what's mentioned in the game and the catnap statue (along with the jester part).
I made it apparent that 1006 was using poppy gel on his own body (if I'm not mistaken, it's said to cause excessive growth of biological tissue if used improperly). And for some reason, this can't be seen in the game.
He has two large arms made of metal and flesh; I was just too lazy to draw the other one ( sorry lol )
You guys gotta understand, it's all about expectations.
From like chapter two, we are presented with the idea that The Prototype collects dead toy parts. We see him carry off what's left of Mommy, and then in chapter three we see the shrine of him made by Catnap.
What we basically saw was a mishmash of toys, a corpse pile, with some skeletal remains in there and tbh I've seen it before.
So what I started to expect was something like Ennard. Just a bare bones, amalgamation of toy parts with perhaps a blank mask or crash dummy for a head, or hell even a skull.
Ennard works because its a living amalgam of several animatronics. They are all still present in there and that blank face represents them as a singular unit.
Or we would get something like The Mimic's trash outfit.
Where The Mimic is completely obscured by the remains of unused or broken animatronic parts and nothing more. This is fitting for The Mimic because that's what it DOES, it mimics but I'ma be honest if The Prototype was nothing BUT a toy corpsepile and a skeleton, it would have been bored me. We've seen it before. I've seen it before.
Now let's look at what we got. Yep, we can see the toy parts he's collected but it's not as disorganized as a carrion pile. In fact it's pretty clean. His shape is easy to discern and take in with the eyes but I gotta be honest the part that really saves it is the part a lot of people are complaining about.
Yes, the clown.
Why is the clown good? Because it's the only original part of The Prototype. It IS the Prototype and it makes sense The Prototype would be a Prototypical Toy. Something wholly unique unto itself. It's not JUST a corpse pile, its a corpse pile grafted onto an ORIGINAL toy, and ORIGINAL body. He IS the original. He's the Prototype.
This gives The Prototype an identity of his own that's more than just a Mimic, more than a naked skeleton or just some nameless sap's skull. The Prototype was MADE a toy, he IS a toy.
You guys can cry edgy all you want but I will take a distinct design over a bland, repetitive one any day. And it's probably a good thing that even if you took all the toy parts away from him, he would still have a great design that stands on his own.
I remembered I could genuinely just turn any roblox character into whatever I wanted them to be like 2 weeks back, so I decided to turn Nate--a very infamous hacker, imo--into a pretty scene kid. All because... He was around during the late 2000s and he had homestuck on his shirt, which made me think "ohhh he must be a geek" and I've always seen the scene style as geeky. So bam!
I used a very obvious reference for this, if you find it,, idk I'll give u a follow LOL. That's why this drawing looks kinda traced, I didn't really need to sketch shapes beforehand.
Also, this drawing is very Barbie like with very feminine and exaggerated traits, I will definitely change this design of Nate in the future, but for now, this is what he looks liek.
Yes he's a feminine transman, use the correct pronouns!!!
I think the design itself was good but in the context of the game it doesn't make sense, even though there's not necessarily a theme for the poppy playtime designs I don't see how a jester is the best design especially with his character.
I may as well introduce y'all to the cursed crew while I conjure their ref sheets.
Fluffy Cuddle Quartz
Of course of all things, I went with haunted doll because the name "Fluffy" was too good not to take advantage of. Besides, monsters would be too easy. So, she’s basically 2019 Child’s Play Chucky, or Buddi in that case; A Yandere companion, but rather than it be a corrupted AI, it’s corrupted gems; the same kind that corrupted that Frybo suit. And like Frybo, she can mutate in ways that are utterly disturbing. Where she was created, I haven’t settled on. Maybe a twisted experiment from humans taking advantage of gems and their everlasting life, and rather than rely on temporary batteries and tedious charging. OR it could have been Homeworld testing a human object with their shards, see what happens, maybe to give a more mellowed, protective companion rather than the energetic, high tempo spinels? I dunno. All’s that we do know is; her love has no end.
Though, one thing I can't decide on;
What should her eyes be?

Tri-rant
Yeah, you knew I would. Since she’s limited in the design department, it seemed fitting to tie in a toy that’s been deemed cursed. And obviously, there’s gremlin mixed in there because it just seemed right. How SHE came to be, i have no clue; maybe another experiment gone awry or she was naturally corroded by something in her gem coding. But, all’s you gotta know is, you can’t let her see you with candy.
Scorpi
Yeah, this had to be done. It’s not spooky without the 8 legged fiends themselves. Then add in the scorpion because why not up the fear factor? Hopefully she’s not too unrecognizable. But she’s definitely the result of a defect in her coding as she corrupted. I don’t have to worry about segments anymore! But I debated whether or not to go with her usual face or go with the eye-in-mouth design to up the creep factor. I’m kinda digging the eye-in-mouth look, or I might implement them both in somehow in the final product as a second form or somethin’. Either way, tell me which ya dig most.
Creepy Q Stephan
Good ol’ Lil Q got the evil child trope; haven’t seen Steeb depicted as a creepy tyke yet so here’s my version. And it would be far too simple/stereotypical/cliche to just use Black Diamond off the bat. But he’s still a diamond. But here’s the thing; he’s got an “imitation Diamond” something created by humans (or created accidentally from Homeworld by using other materials to save time and resources.) I can say Greg found it and gave it to Rose as a gift, but Rose being Pink, wondered what would happen if she used the same tactic to bring her Pebbles to life on something created by organics? Or maybe his gem was formed in a place near somewhere sacred/cursed? No clue. Needless to say, his coding ain’t right. And there’s bountiful opportunities to reap with the word “imitation” in the name~
Note: these are the starter/prototype designs. They may be tweaked up in the final refs. >;3
