With 91% of polling stations reporting, Fuerza Patria has 47% of vote against nearly 34% for Milei's ruling La Libertad Avanza.
Argentina's Trumpian President Javier Milei suffered a major defeat in Buenos Aires Province which is home to about 37% of Argentina's population.
Parties under Governor Axel Kicillof's Peronist grouping Fuerza Patria got 47.28% of the vote while Milei's Alianza LLA came in a poor second at 33.71%. You can see results for all 17 or so parties here.
President Javier Milei vowed Sunday to "accelerate" his libertarian reforms after a crushing defeat in elections in Buenos Aires Province.
The regional vote carries significant weight and comes ahead of highly anticipated midterms on October 26.
The 54-year-old economist has slashed public spending, dismissed tens of thousands of public employees and led a major deregulation drive since taking office in December 2023.
He acknowledged his party's "clear defeat" by the centre-left Peronist movement in the elections to the legislature of Buenos Aires Province, the country's economic powerhouse.

The 13-point gap between Milei's party and the left was far greater than opinion polls had predicted.
Turnout in the election was high, at around 63 percent.
Elections in Buenos Aires Province are telling as a bellwether for Argentina.

The atmosphere, however, was more festive at the headquarters of Fuerza Patria. Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof was greeted with cheers and chants of “Axel for president!”
“Milei, the people have given you an order: you cannot govern for outsiders, for corporations, for those who have the most. Govern for the people,” Kicillof said in a victory speech.
These have not been good times for populist Milei.
In a sign of the anger among many Argentines over the affair, Milei and his sister were pelted with stones on the campaign trail in late August, with skirmishes breaking out among supporters and opponents.
Karina Milei, who has not defended herself publicly, voted at around noon and left surrounded by supporters, without making any statements to the press.
The ruling party's election drubbing comes three days after Milei suffered a major setback when Congress overturned his veto of a law increasing allowances for disabled people.
Looking forward to Argentina's midterms on October 26th. 😃
Axel Kicillof is being touted as a presidential contender. There are a couple of years to go before the next presidential election.
Prior to the provincial election, Gov. Kicillof made this video encouraging people in the province to vote.
In Argentina as in the United States: When you vote, you win.
Whoever voted for the corrupt clown show that is Doug Ford, go fuck yourself!
Why in the living hell would you reelect the embodiment of the Monopoly money man who is destroying our health care, our environment and affordable housing so he can line the pockets of his rich friends.
Also fuck you if you didn't vote. You are a part of the problem.
Voter attendance for the last election was awful, less than 45% of eligible voters exercised their right to vote, and that's what Doug Ford is counting on so he can stay in office!! Even if you've never voted before or think that it's pointless, please just go anyway! It's incredibly easy to do! Just bring one piece of ID that has your address on it (like your health card or drivers licence) and if you don't have ID that has your address you can bring any official mail that does, like bank statements, T4 slips, government mail, or anything like that. You do NOT need a voter card! You do NOT need to register in advance!
If you're unsure of your electoral district, go here to find out where to vote, and if you want to help us have a better chance to vote out Doug Ford, go to smartvoting.ca and enter your electoral district to see what party has the better chance of beating the conservatives!
My partner and I both voted early, but now the only chance to cast your vote is on the 27th! This is so important, especially because only 6% of eligible voters cast their vote during the early voting period!
Remember, you have a legal right to vote, even if you're at work. Your job is REQUIRED to let you leave so you can cast your vote! Ontario can't handle another 5 years of Doug Ford's leadership, voting him out will help save the healthcare system from becoming even more privatized, help save the post secondary education system, and help alleviate the housing crisis!! VOTE SMART! VOTE OUT FORD! GO VOTE!!!
I got my $200 bribe check from Doug Ford in the mail today. Thanks for the money, which could have been used better in Ontario. I will still not be voting for you.

Argentinian President Javier Milei suffered a sweeping setback in a key Buenos Aires provincial election on Sunday viewed as a litmus test for how well his libertarian party is set to perform in legislative elections next month.
The former TV pundit's recently formed La Libertad Avanza party scored just 34% of the vote in Argentina's biggest province, losing by a landslide to the left-leaning Peronist opposition led by former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who finished with 47% of the vote with the majority of the ballots counted late Sunday.
Milei conceded that his party's 13-point loss was a "clear defeat."
"If anyone wants to begin rebuilding and moving forward, the first thing they must do is accept the results," Milei told his supporters at the party headquarters.
He vowed to "accelerate" his libertarian reforms following the defeat. The 54-year-old has spearheaded a major deregulation drive since taking office in December 2023, slashing public spending and dismissing tens of thousands of public employees.

British Columbia Provincial Election Results (Oct. 19th 2024):
As of the most up-to-date results I can find, the NDP are leading in 47 ridings (the bare minimum for a majority), and the Conservatives in 44. Greens in 2.
Both NDP and Con leaders held their seats, Green leader lost her's after switching ridings.
It WOULD have been the first Con government in BC in about a century, but it looks like they thankfully fell short. However its still a shocking rebound for a near-non-existent party following the collapse of the misleadingly-named BC Liberals as the main opposition, and another indication of Canadian politics in general taking a hard Right-ward swing of late.
