So is that like… a fantasy Homestuck AU except people get better character development
Every generic fantasy HS au on the planet has some sort of fantasy Europe dueling Derse-Prospit kingdoms thing so let’s not do that. I was actually struggling to come up with a generic fantasy idea, but I just finished reading Beneath the Sugar Sky, so let’s do a Wayward Children thing! For those unfamiliar with that, the conceit is kids who wandered into another world Narnia-style and then ended up back on Earth, disoriented and confused.
1. Jade’s door went to a golden world where she was their princess and fabled hero. She spent most of her childhood there, crossing over in her sleep after her grandfather died and left her alone. She was supposed to save their world, but a force attacked it and destroyed her home city, and as she was falling to her death out of her tower a door opened and took her back. She’s friendly enough but spends a lot of her time sleeping trying to return, just in case there’s something left to save.
2. Dave ended up in a world where he was expected to fight for them. They gave him a sword and some armor and what they called an enemy and expected the rest would sort itself out, since that’s how the miracle children work. He hated it, and when he found another door, he took it. It returned him the same age as he left, but more time than that had passed, so he’s kind of out of it. He should probably be at the other school for kids who didn’t have a good time, but he doesn’t want to forget either - he already feels out of step enough without missing memories.
3. Karkat, Kanaya, and Terezi are from another world bordering on this one. Their world was attacked by whatever attacked Jade’s, and they fled to Earth. The kids at the school have seen weirder shit, so it’s the trolls who have more trouble adjusting.
4. They didn’t come through a door. Whatever is attacking the different worlds has been opening up cracks, making it easier to travel through the worlds intentionally or not, but harder to know where you’re going. It used to be people went to worlds that fit them. Now they could stumble into anything.
5. Rose doesn’t like to talk about her world. She traveled between a few - a desert wasteland littered with old ruins and scraps of parchment, and a dark world where she floated in the circles of darker gods. She didn't go back intentionally - she got thrown out for being subversive, probably. That world was Wicked, but she learned things, and now that she’s back, she’s been trying to piece together how the doors and worlds work. Obviously the growing plot here involves taking on the entity destroying the worlds, but if this is a DDOTA AU, it is only fitting at some point Rose leads a charge to confront whatever force thinks it’s fun to ship kids off to traumatizing experiences because they’re ‘needed’ and then discard them like used tissues.

Star Wars: Imperial Apologism. People trying to act like the empire wasn’t so bad.
Ranma 1/2: When you look back at it now through 2017 eyes, Ranma is actually kinda cisnormative and heteronormative. But for so many babytrans it was a ~*formative*~ series that I think people remember it as being a lot queerer than it really was. With that said, the number of people who jump on anybody trying to queer up the series in fanfics because “that wasn’t how it’s supposed to be in canon” are really irritating, like let us have this dudes.
Headcanon ask, 5, 12 and 17 for Sly and Carmelita.
5. Bathing/Showering headcanon
Carmelita: Carmelita is all about baths on her days off, one of the first things she does on a day to herself she runs a very hot bath with lots of bubbles and luxuriates.
Sly: The gang used to joke that Sly would drown in a shallow puddle so he hates baths, it’s a quick shower or it nothing.
Together: Their habits don’t really change when they live together. Carmelita takes shorter baths on her days off and Sly’s habits become more regular as they are not running frantically all over the world anymore.
12. Jewelry headcanon
Carmelita: Carmelita doesn’t really wear jewelry, it gets in the way on the job so she ditched the habit in her personal life too. The exception being her choker, originally that was a functional thing she used to to display her badge.
Sly: Being a Cooper is equivalent to being part magpie, Sly LOVES shiny things. He would totally wear flashy rings and chains if he could get away with it.
Together: Sly gives Carmelita the choker she wears in the 4th game. Their wedding rings when they get them are plain platinum bands engraved with grooves so that when the rings are placed together it displays their initials.
17. Soft Spot headcanon
Carmelita: Carmelita has a soft spot for a good book, Neil Diamond, and Murray. And perhaps for a certain thievius raccoonus (when he’s not being a smug ass)
Sly: Sly’s biggest soft spot is Carmelita and (much to Bentley’s chagrin) will often go off the plan or sacrifice loot if it means he can talk to her or steal a kiss.
Together: They indulge each other a lot in the early days of their relationship, their mutual soft spots for the other remaining.

To show you how much I actually know about Batman lore: I had to double check to make sure you were referring to the Riddler because I’d literally never heard his full name used before (Edward Nygma? REALLY?).
I mean if the Riddler’s schtick is testing Batman’s detective skills with riddles, Homestuck is so chock full of cryptic characters doing cryptic bullshit you have a lot of candidates. My money would be leaning towards Doc Scratch, but in terms of Cryptic Nonsense? Calliope would make a pretty decent candidate if you didn’t want her to be one of many potential Robins (the other Robin-potentials being John, Dave, Jake, Dirk, and even Jade). Rose too, though I’d lean towards Rose being this universe’s actual Batgirl. Just, you know, if she’s paralyzed and becomes Oracle maybe don’t do it just to cause anguish to the men in her life. Or anyone else in her life.
Apropos of fuckall, do you have a favourite pokemon that each of your characters enjoys? Or is this a q i should wait until I can finally get back to supportin ya on patreon?

i love the yawgh. i love emily carroll’s work in general, so i’m kind of annoyed i slept on the yawgh until like three years after it was released. RIP.
i’ve seen so many weird and horrible things happen to ms. azure it’s hard to think of what her canon ending ought to be. i do know that some of the best writing in the game is when you fuck up and hugely upsetting things just pile in on top of one another and everyone dies, though.
