08.08.2024—moments of clarity & peace in a chaotic day. back in psychiatric care
Every time I swallow a large pill I want to do a shoutout to the girlies in the psych unit with me when I was 16 who taught me how to swallow pills by cutting up smarties into tiny pieces and getting me to swallow progressively larger ones
I just got promoted to Activity Therapist on a psych unit where a significant number of patients are homeless.
Besides the (many) practical barriers, what issues should I be focused on psychologically?
If you were homeless I want to know what helped you the most.
Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital
lichrally love my new job sm it doesn't even really feel like work. i'm sure there's going to be some days that really suck but so far i love it. i finally get to actually work in a clinical psychiatric setting with mentally ill kids 🥺 all the kids in this unit are so sweet lol i hope the others are similar
is it weird that sometimes when im depressed i miss being in the psych ward? like i just want to be in a sterile clean hospital room where nurses are there to comfort me, bring me tea and cookies, bring me my medicine. it feels nice to be looked after.
woo I think I'm scarred for life now because I spent two weeks in a psych unit and I keep having nightmares about it even though there was nothing wrong with the place besides the fact that I couldn't see my family that often
Because someone asked
The reviews of the hospitals I’ve been to. There was one I frequented, but was a general hospital and the psych unit/mental outpatient had no reviews
Sort by “Lowest score” trust me, those are the most accurate. Even reviews from the 90s are accurate. Trust me, people were probably paid to write the good reviews.
The “Lowest Score” reviews are not over-exaggerating, those are the actual truth of all these hospitals and I can personally vouch 100% for them
Psych hospital (been in both adolescent and adult unit)
Long term psych hospital (was there for around 3 months, went from inpatient to outpatient)
Local general hospital (that sucks total ass that I’ve gone for psych and nonpsych emergencies because I’m a dumbass)
Repost cuz I tried uploading on my work computer and the formatting got fucked up
Spoiler: sadly the maggots are never mentioned in any of the reviews, but the reviews are still a true horror show. Guess I gotta write that one myself anyway.
