The Chemists
“Queer” is out.
Rough morning complete with screaming vocal tics while in the shower. I even hurt my ears at one point. I've had migraines every day for about a week and that could be what triggered the tics. My brain has been on fire to the point where it was fucking with me psychologically. Even had a nice several hour stay in the ER yesterday/last night. Luckily the pain lessened for a while which allowed my mind to clear. The psych docs seemed to completely understand so after they assessed me I was allowed to leave. But man that was close! For those of you who don't know, the last time (which was about a year ago btw) I had been section 12'd I was threatened with a state hospital. Basically, if I did not comply and take the meds they were trying to force on me. Things worked out in the end and I was eventually discharged without being prescribed meds or being forced to take meds while I was still there. It's still scary to me because the implication was that if I kept "making mistakes" I was going to get locked up for a long while. And from what I understand about state hospitals is that some people just don't ever get to leave. That is EXACTLY why in some of my therapy videos I say that I either can't go back or don't want to go back. I'm on a journey of healing and my mental state scares me at times but that is only because I'm FINALLY doing well enough to ACTUALLY REALIZE when I need help. This is a first for me. I've never been able to realize when I'm experiencing psychosis until it subsides. Now even when I'm "deep in it" I'll experience moments of "clarity". Sometimes just enough to let me know that I'm slipping. So I've been doing what I can in those moments to either reach out for help or to ground myself. I've made so much progress and hiccups like yesterday do not take away from that fact. That is something that I need to remind myself of. I didn't end up "too far gone" or take any steps backwards. My route just got changed a bit :)
I especially like ‘the ambiguous caretaker’ in mental hospital fics. When the whumpee is panicked or confused and they gently calm them or wrestle them into a straight jacket regardless they do it because it is for the whumpee’s own good. It’s their job to keep them safe. They’re a professional. So if they have to force-feed, inject a sedative or help a drugged whumpee shower they will and they won’t feel bad about it. While the whumpee suffers they just do what’s in their job description. Plus it is the doctor that prescribes most things so even if they do feel bad about doing something to the whumpee, it’s not their choice. They have to do it. But at the end of the day, they will simply clock out and go home while whumpee stays delirious and locked up in the padded cell.
Me: I want a long term facility
The CSU (crisis stabilization unit) : we can send you to the next level of care
Me: is it a long term facility
CSU: it is the next level of care
Me: is it a place with a maximum stay of about 5 to 7 days, which is only 2 to 4 days more than here?
CSU: it is the next level of care
Me: okay fine
*goes to Peninsula*
Peninsula: the maximum stay is 5 to 7 days
Me:
It's been over a month since I've been in-patient. Let's see how long we can keep this streak going.
:))) hello Daniel Jackson
“He’s sick. It wasn’t his fault.”
They scoffed in response, “What are you saying? That we should just forget about it then!”
“No, of course not, people died. But he needs help too, I think he should be admitted.”
“St. Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital? Have you heard what happens there? It’s hardly merciful to send him there...”
