Does this happen to anyone else??
Okay so, my friend and I are writing a haikaveh fic together. And I write most of the Kaveh parts because he's one of my absolute most favorite characters in the game and I know his lore like the back of my hand. And there have been like, multiple instances where I have started crying mid-paragraph while writing for him😭
Now mind you, I wouldn't consider myself to be someone who gets easily emotional. I can maybe count on once hand the number of times I've tears up while watching a show/movie kr playing a game or reading a book. Like I definitely feel sad obviously when sad things are happening but it usually take quite a lot for me to actually shed a tear.
And like, ive been writing fanfiction on and off for a number of years now, across many Fandoms. And literally the *only* thing that has ever made me cry is Kaveh specifically.
I have a theory ☝️ the reason Kaveh is one of my all time favorite characters is because I see myself in him a lot. We have very similar trauma and very similar trauma responses and coping mechanisms (not talking about the alcoholism, mostly the avoidant attachment style) so feel l a lot of the time like I am him and he is me type shit. I feel very connected to him as a character that way and thats why I like him so much.
So my theory is that the reason I keep crying about him specifically (again, this doesnt happens with literally any other character ive written for) is likely because of that personal connection I have to him as a character and his lore. Like it's making me emotional cuz its hitting too close to home.
It's just so wild to me that it literally happens in the middle of ME writing! Like i'm the one unintentionally making myself cry this is ridiculous 😭 that doesnt even make any sense. I came up with this angst so literally how am I making myself sad lmfao
The scene in question that made me think about posting this in regards to his mom. I was writing specifically about when she was leaving to move to Fontaine and how lonley Kaveh was feeling after she left. (I have horrible mommy issues) and so literally writing his internal diologe about him not wanting to be abandoned or be alone but not wanting to make it about himself because he wants her to be happy. And LITERALLY not even two paragraphs in and I started crying at my own writing. This is ridiculous 😂
Anyways, I was just curious if anyone else experienced this with a character specifically or just in general if you have made yourself cry with your own angst😂
realizing not having any type of community with other writers is probably what's changed my attitude towards writing so much 🥲 being in an artistic community made me feel a lot more self confident and passionate in a healthy way, but now i can only compare myself to other writers. it's just me and the reader now, which is a completely different feeling than being in an environment where your creativity can thrive and be nurtured.
does anyone else feel an acute need to feel something intense in their life psychologically?not in terms of feeling a rush of adrenaline when doing dangerous stuff, but meeting people or joining certain tabboo communities to feel something. Idk personally I think my obsession over cults, the occult, psychoanalysis, etc. serves to fill that weird void
picked up this heftyyy book from the library today! :) dostoevsky + naranjo studying is definitely migraine-material though, i might not recommend...
id love to finish this by the end of may! what do we think? :)
“oc question #3: if they could have a real life conversation with you, how would it go?” curtesy of ‘_..darr1ingz.._’ on tiktok.
at some point, the conversation became one-sided and more of me psychoanalyzing them. it kinda resembles a letter format, but if you pay attention, there are gaps where it seems like dallas (he/him) responds. extra notes are at the top of my tags. have fun reading!
total words: 2,329. writing under cut:
coerced and forced into a family unit… CAN ANYONE HEAR MEEEEEE?!?!?!? idk why the concept appeals to me someone psychoanalyse me pls :3
hi tiff
wondering if you're gonna update WT anytime soon? I'm really hooked
Hey babes!
First, I wanna apologize. Just knowing that WT is sitting there unfinished causes me anxiety sometimes. BUT, I promise you I will not abandon it. I have the whole thing mapped out and know the major plot points (it’s so brutal to poor James 🙈… I can’t wait 🤣) and honestly will go nuts if I don’t go back to it soon. I just need to get my life back on track first.
I think I’ve been pretty honest in the past that I started writing in the first place while driving my dad to his chemo appointments during covid and needing something super immersive to distract myself with. Then after he died, I went from throwing myself completely into writing as a coping mechanism to planning my wedding and now… well. Let’s just say I realize I’ve let many parts of my life completely deteriorate and I gotta give myself some time to fix shit. Reconnect with friends. See if I still have some of my jobs. Drink less. Etc etc. (If you’re wondering how drinking and writing are related… have you ever written a smut scene sober?! … and if your follow up question is: Tiff… you write so much smut…. EXACTLY!)
Given just how deep in avoiding nearly every other aspect of my life I was — I allowed this fandom to have way too much sway over my well-being, and obviously, that’s never a good idea bc then you’re at the mercy of a bunch of strangers on the internet — many of whom definitely don’t have your best interests at heart.
I know that my stories are a form of escapism for many ppl, and I love that, but I think I should return to writing when I can do it from a place of happiness… and not rage and grief and spite. (But don’t worry. It will still be a dark story, lol. I truly believe you can be a happy-go-lucky person and write like a psycho 😉)
Cheers!
Thanks for waiting and for your continued support. I really do appreciate it 💜
