I apologize if this is too dark for you. Feel free to ignore this if it's too much, no pressure.
Giyu was at his estate when he heard a pounding at his door, when he checked it there was a little girl wrapped in a blanket in a woven basket, it was a newborn with a bloodstained note. It was his kid that he had with the reader after a few passionate nights together.
It was what the note said at least, it didn't help that the baby girl looked exactly like him. But it wasn't in the reader's handwriting.
It was someone else's, it was brief and heartbreaking, saying that the reader viewed them as a nothing and was going to give them to Muzan to do experiments on the child and that they couldn't just sit by and watch, with them pleading Giyu to care and love his daughter.
How would Giyu and the rest of the Hashira along with Kagaya Ubuyashiki react?
PART 1 - PART 2
Summary: Giyu wasn't prepared for what was waiting for him behind his door...
Warnings: Reader Is A Serial Killer, Reader Is A Psychopath
When Giyu had opened his door, he was expecting to see a fellow Hashira... Or even you, but nothing prepared him to see this woven basket with a small baby girl wrapped in a bloody blanket and an equally bloody note attached to the baby's blanket.
The baby was sleeping peacefully, and Giyu frowned as he knelt down and picked up the note... And his eyes widened as he read the hurriedly written message on the piece of paper.
This girl... She was his and... Yours?
He took a closer look at the small girl, and he could see similarities between him and the baby... But she looked so much like you also.
It must have been real, the message and the baby. Frowning, Giyu picked up the basket and took the small girl inside where she would be safe... And he took the baby with him to the Hashira's meeting the very next day.
"She looks so much like you, Tomioka-san!" Mitsuri smiled as she offered her finger to the giggling baby, and she immediately grasped her finger with her tiny fingers. Mitsuri couldn't help but squeal, "So cute!"
"And such a healthy girl also." Shinobu smiled as she, alongside the Love Hashira, amused the baby girl.
"So..." Obanai frowned behind his bindings as he glanced at Giyu, "She is yours and hers...?"
"It appears so," Giyu nodded, that everlasting frown on his face.
"Hm! The letter seems like it's real!" Kyojuro nodded as he read the note that came with Giyu's daughter.
"Namu..." Gyomei prayed quietly as he cried, "So there are Demons with a heart..."
Everyone knew he meant the part in the letter where the Demon responsible for delivering Giyu's daughter to him had gone against their master, the Demon King...
...While you apparently had no heart whatsoever, as you were willing to hand out your very own child for Muzan to experience on.
"I understand that this must be hard for you, Tomioka-san..." Master Ubuyashiki himself said as he sat there before all Hashiras, "But how are you feeling?"
"This is... So surreal..." Giyu frowned, "I never knew she was pregnant..."
"What are you going to do with her?" Muichiro asked, obviously talking about your daughter.
"I..." The Water Hashira couldn't even look at his own daughter without seeing you in her.
"Namu Amida Butsu..." Gyomei prayed as he rubbed his praying beads, "A child should not suffer for their parent's sins..."
"Himejima-san is right." Sanemi, much to everyone's shock, said, "She may be part of her, but she shouldn't be punished for her mother's bad decisions."
"If you don't want her, my wives and I can raise her!" Tengen said, fully ready to adopt the mini Tomioka.
"No..." Giyu shook his head as he looked down at his own daughter, "She is just as much mine as she is hers... And she is my responsibility."
"You aren't alone, Tomioka-san." Master Ubuyashiki smiled gently, "The whole Ubuyashiki family and the rest of the Hashiras are ready and willing to help you out at any point or time."
"I..." The Water Hashira swallowed, "I appreciate your offer, Master, but..."
"We are all ready to help you!" Mitsuri smiled as she looked at Obanai, "Right, Iguro-san?"
"I..." The Serpent Hashira averted his gaze as he tried his hardest not to blush, "Yes... We will help..."
"Hm! The Rengoku family will also offer its aid for you and your daughter!" Kyojuro smiled proudly.
"Tch!" Sanemi frowned, "It can't be helped... You're so hopeless when it comes to these sorts of things..."
"I..." Muichiro looked troubled, yet he nodded, "I'm not the best with these sorts of things... But I do what I can..."
"My wives and I are always ready to help you out!" Tengen grinned as he gave a flamboyant thumbs-up to Giyu.
"I'll make sure that your baby girl is always healthy." Shinobu nodded with a small smile as she played with your baby with Mitsuri by her side.
"Namu... I will also offer you my services..." Gyomei nodded as he prayed.
"Everyone..." Giyu was taken aback by all the help offered to him. He looked at his daughter, who smiled gleefully, completely unaware of the conversation about her fate going on around her.
Looking at his own daughter, the image of you flashed in his mind. Your smile, your laughter, your kindness... All lies... But this child was not you and shouldn't be punished for your actions and decisions.
"I appreciate your help..." Giyu nodded, "And... I will accept it when I need it..."
"When you need it?" Sanemi asked, irked, and the Water Hashira nodded.
"I don't know how I will do when it comes to raising a baby alone..." He muttered as he looked at his child, "But I am glad to have all of your support and help."
Everyone smiled as they looked at Giyu accepting his child and the responsibility that came with her.
"I'm proud of you, Tomioka." Master Ubuyashiki nodded, "But don't forget... You're not alone in this."
"I..." Giyu nodded, "I understand... Thank you.
And with that, he and his child? They were never alone.
“Psychopath” is not an insult. It is not interchangeable with absolutely horrible terrible person. It is a mental disorder. Not someone who does really shitty things. So think the next time you start to call someone that.
Often very self centered (loves the attention on him)
Coercion [obtain something by using force or threats]
Easily bored
Spiteful
Attains self esteem from power, pleasure, or self gain
Sociopathic:
Acts more on impulse than on plans
Lack of remorse on the people harmed by his actions
Manipulates others for personal gain
Recongnizes what theyve done but rationalizes their actions
Bonuses:
"Many (psychopaths) have had parents who were substance abusers and failed to provide parental guidance."
"If a childs parents are abusive and dysfunctional, children may learn such behavioral patterns-"
"People with the disorder ([ASPD] Sociopathy) also tend to require greater stimulation and may seek out dangerous or even illegal activities to raise their arousal to an optimal level"
(Sociopathy) "Can result in incarceration, injury, or death due to harmful or criminal actions"
I am so over the moon about flower of evil and can’t find a reason to not call it my favorite k-drama as of now, for countless reasons. the amount of times I was on the edge of my toes yelling at the characters in the screen or having crying sessions, especially after each episode’s epic ending already says enough. the plot. is. so. good. And the depth these characters have is *chef’s kiss* Do Hyun Su’s search for an identity. the intensity of family love, couple-wise and between father and daughter. *bawls my soul out*
I saw a recurring theme of CLEANSING, specifically washing away guilt from former sins. Hear me out: detective Cha Ji Won loves rain; rain often symbolizes rejuvenation, rebirth. Every time Do Hyun Su has an epiphany about himself and gains the willpower to change for the better-- it is in the RAIN. Also, remember that scene where Do Hyun Su and his sister and Reporter Kim were splashing each other with water in a creek when they were younger? In a way, the entire plot of the drama revolves around these three character feeling profound guilt and then working together to wash their dirt-ridden past away.
*spoilers ahead*
Another thing I’d like to point out is that Do Hyun Su was SEEN as a psychopath whenever he played the role of Baek Hee song. Right when he lost his memories as Baek Hee Song (not coincidentally, the car crash incident), people no longer viewed him as a psychopath. Baek Hee song is the only TRUE psychopath of this story. And right when this horrible killer entered the storyline and woke up from his coma, Do Hyun Soo regained his real identity. the public (and including us, the viewers, at one point) only perceived Do Hyun Soo as a psychopath - as incapable of feeling emotions - but that is a fake façade, and in reality, he is just a victim of childhood trauma. Through out his life, he convinced himself to believe that he was only manipulating people for his selfish benefit-- but that act is actually only truly taken by the village forearm of his past, who manipulated others to think Do Hyun Soo was possessed, in order to steal money. Do Hyun Soo allowed the negative thoughts from his trauma to shape a wrongful perception of himself -- which happens to be exactly how his metal workshop is organized.
His metal workshop looks cheery and happy on the outside, but inside, there is a dark basement, similar to the basement of his serial killer father. This is how Do Hyun Soo viewed himself, until Cha Ji Won familiarized herself with his workshop better, hence, learning more about him and his past, and loving him regardless of it. Do Hyun Soo has an evil, depressing background, but he was still able to find the good inside of himself and nurture it as if it was like, dare I say, a fragile and beautiful flower.
