Thank you for articulating something I didn’t put into the original meta post but probably should have. Yeah, Aizawa might not have any body enhancement or physical-damage quirk like most people, but he can also deny his opponents their body enhancements and physical damage quirks for the most part - and then his intense training with his scarf makes up for that chunk of the population that he can’t just throw off by removing their primary attack.
Toshinori, meanwhile, we SAW having to train himself with OFA, in the flashback during Izuku’s training with Gran Torino. Toshinori was pushed hard enough by Gran that he’s still terrified of the man decades later. OFA is not and never has been an ‘easy win’ button, as we’ve seen from all of Izuku’s time with it and with what we’ve seen of Toshinori’s fights in the main series and in what past fights we’ve heard of.
Aizawa never dealt with the quirkless experience. Toshinori did, even if it was decades ago when it was less rare. There’s a reason Izuku’s story resonated with him so hard, and why he changed his mind so quickly after Izuku’s stunt - Toshinori was seeing himself all over again, reminded of when he was young and desperate to change the world.
There’s no other hero who would have changed their mind, and no other student who would have clicked with Toshinori in the same way. You can argue it’s fate or luck, but the two just grock each other in ways most other people can’t. And really, it’s been pretty good for both of them, so. I guess haters just gonna hate while the rest of us enjoy the story.

The only things that keep this from an A+ is I love Ironqrow a little more, but I love this little rarepair and will go down with my ship.

Can I ask where the name for the region came from?
Altera comes from the word Alter, as in Alternate Reality. It’s basically a nod to the fact that its a story about escapism written in the midst of a global pandemic and quarantine.
