The only things that keep this from an A+ is I love Ironqrow a little more, but I love this little rarepair and will go down with my ship.

Tai couldn’t sleep that night. He couldn’t quite put a finger on it, but there was something troubling him. And it was a heavy feeling.
He walked through the house, poking in to check on the girls sound asleep still in their beds. Zwei was pacing back and forth beside him, keeping an eye out for any signs of danger until the smell of coffee filled the air, causing him to zoom down the stairs. Curious, Tai followed.
Who could be making coffee this late? Did Qrow come by?
Slowly, Tai peeked into the kitchen, smiling as he saw James kneeling down to pet Zwei.
“Who’s a good boy?” James asked softly.
“I see two,” Tai said quietly, walking over to hug him.
James stood up to return the embrace. “Sorry to sneak back so late.”
“You’re a day early. I don’t mind you sneaking in ever.” Tai glanced at the table, surprised at the lock box and various items strewn about. “What’s all that?”
James let him go, pouring two mugs of coffee before taking a seat. He stared absentmindedly into his mug for a bit. Tai joined him, concerned. James was never that quiet.
“James?”
“Memories I have to clean up,” James mumbled. “Stuff from my army days.”
So that’s what’s going on. “You want me to help?”
James smiled, lightly taking his hand. “Sure. After our coffee.”
“Sure thing.”
About an hour of silence passed between them as they finished their drinks and began to pack everything away. Dog tags, an old canteen, some medals James probably wouldn’t wear again any time soon. Some photos of people Tai never met. Everything was placed in carefully.
And resting on top was a small white flag, neatly folded into a tight triangle.
Once the box was locked and stored away in the closet, Tai took James upstairs to bed. A quick check through his prosthetics to make sure they were still working right, pulling out his pajamas. Letting him pick which side of the bed he wanted that night.
They’d done this song and dance before. But this time felt rather climatic. An end to a chapter.
Tai crawled into bed, letting James snuggle in close and rest his head on his chest. With a quick kiss good night, they both fell asleep.
