In a recent fashion Q&A in the June 2015 issue of O Magazine, a reader asked “Can I pull  off a crop top?" to  which O’s  creative director Adam Glassman responded, “If (and only if!)  you have a flat stomach.” He then goes on to give suggestions for how anyone without a flat stomach can "layer" for an appropriate look.
The exclamation in his response is not lost on us and the extreme side-eye from us here at Embodi Boutique may not translate over this post so let's make it plain. Excuse us, Mr. Glassman, but we beg to  differ.
See, here's the thing. There are way too many women and girls afraid to express themselves in whatever way they choose. The world has told them, in some way, that they are not worthy or acceptable. They don't meet "the standard" so they should hide. I am here to tell you that is FALSE! You deserve happiness and the freedom to live apologetically simply because you breathe! Therefore, if you want to wear a crop-top or shorts, or a mu-mu even I suggest everyone who has an issue avert their eyes. People have the freedom to feel how they want about your clothes. You also have the right to feel perfectly comfortable and beautiful in them.
And we're not alone in that sentiment. Women from everywhere took to their social media accounts to express their distaste for the "advice". Fellow plus size blogger Curvily created the hashtag #pullingoffacroptop and in just a few hours there  were hundreds of women posting images of themselves, not only showing a  little midriff, but slaying if I do say so myself.Â
The online uproar created quite a buzz. A spokesperson for the magazine has since apologized saying "We  support, encourage and empower all women to look great, feel  confident  and live their best lives — in this case, we could have  expressed it  better. We appreciate the feedback and will be more mindful  going  forward." We hear you, O Magazine, and we plan on continuing to rock our crop tops anyway!
How do you all feel about the apology? Do you follow fashion rules? Let us know! Also, tag us to your awesome crop top pics if you have any!
