Sure is spicy…🌶️ (Whitebeard pirates one shot/Drabble ) ||SFW||
It was a lazy Saturday morning, and the Whitebeard Pirates were sitting around and munching on whatever they could get their hands on. From the last island they stopped by, the crew was able to secure a couple boxes of Pulparindos, which just so happened to be Ace’s favorite candy. He hated anything sweet, which did mean he didn’t particularly enjoy eating candy, but pulparindo was different. He ate them a lot growing up, and though he was basically immune to the spice, he still loved eating them whenever he could.
Marco was leaning against the railings, taking small bites of the spicy-fruity candy, while Thatch sat cross-legged on a barrel, chewing on the pulparindo slowly. “It’s a bit spicy for a candy, isn’t it?” Thatch remarked, throwing his head back to look over at Marco. “Mm. Ace likes spicy things. It makes sense that this is his favorite,” he said, continuing to take small bites.
Just then, Ace walked by, multiple pieces of the candy in his hand. He popped one in after the other, eating each piece in one go. Marco and Thatch stared at him in disbelief, wondering how he could do that without burning his tongue off. Ace noticed them staring, and raised an eyebrow. “What?” He asked, his mouth still full of candy. Marco and Thatch look at each other, before looking back at Ace. Marco shrugs, trying to act like they weren’t concerned for his mouth. “Nothing,” he said. Ace grinned, gulping down the last of the candy. “What? Can’t handle the spice like I can?” He chuckled, “Well, I do have a huge spice tolerance. Probably like…the highest in the world y’know. I don’t think I know anyone who can handle spicy stuff like I can.”
Before Ace could continue teasing the two men, heavy footsteps started walking towards them. They all turned their heads and looked over to Whitebeard, their captain. He was holding two boxes of pulparindos, the packages stacked on top of each other. “Hey, Pops, you like that? It’s my favorite,” Ace grinned, pointing at the boxes of candy in Whitebeard’s hand. Whitebeard nodded. “Yes. It’s good,” he responded, before proceeding to peel ever wrapper off each piece of candy and finishing the two whole boxes in one go. Thatch blinked twice. Marco just squinted his eyes, as if there was some kind of trick being pulled. Meanwhile, Ace’s jaw dropped to the floor, his eyes wide and slightly upset someone beat his spice tolerance. Whitebeard quickly finished it all, wiping his mouth with his hand after taking the last gulp. He looked at the three in front of him, and studied their shocked faces. He crossed his arms, looking at them suspiciously. “What? Did I do something?” He asked. Ace huffed. “You beat me….” He muttered, walking away defeatedly. Whitebeard continued to stand there confused, as Marco and Thatch sighed at each other. “What?? Seriously, what did I do?” Whitebeard grumbled.

This is white fragility
My coworker gave me this in exchange for some tea. I really love this stuff. Tamarind is awesome, and so is candy. So sour and sweet and with these little crystals—oh! I eat it bit by bit, but I can’t get enough until it’s gone. The sourness and intensity kind of reminds me of umeboshi, but with that tamarind sweetness to it instead of saltiness. The pulpy candy is very sticky, almost like taffy but with a bunch of crystal structures in it. I wish I were a little better at explaining...
