So, something a little gross just happened. (Frank discussion of pus incoming.)
I was prodding the area around my hot spot (a painful point just above one of my incisions, it feels hard and very painful along a few pores, like an angry zit). Suddenly a huge pustule appeared on top of my incision scar, about ½" AWAY from the most painful point.
I popped the pustule, yeah, full of blood and pus, possibly sebum. It was about ½" diameter. The weird part was how far away from the painful spot. BUT. Emptying it feels a *lot* better.
I now have a small crater in the center of my scar, which I cleaned and dressed with neosporin and a bandaid. My hot spot is no longer hard and zit-like. I will need to keep an eye on it for infection or a change into an abscess.
I am wondering if I had popped a stitch or something got irritated, and it created sort of a sideways zit. The hot spot was where I felt most of the irritation, but the backed up pus was horizontal, underneath my scar. If I push down on the crater, I feel pain in both the crater and the hot spot. Yuck.
I dunno. It was gross. No smell, thankfully, and no pain from the popping. I do remember the sensation of possibly popping a stitch in that area around week 2, so maybe it is all connected.
That’s it for gross story time. My healing is going well, but I guess gross stuff can still crop up, even after 7 weeks.

So gross yet so cool.
