This happened. The live one-shot adventure was wild
There is a RWBY DnD show?? No wonder I've never heard of it, if it's member exclusive, don't think many people watch it
Yeah, it was called RWBY: Grimm Campaign and currently has 23 episodes with S2 being behind a paywall a whole year after it finished while S1 is finally made available to the public.
I'm not interested in DnD besides trying to roll to hit my friends with a chair in discord, but the character designs are honestly kinda ugly.
Outfit wise, not bad, just a bit boring, but god those legs do not look right. They've basically given her really long feet and really diddy calves. If they're meant to be serval legs, they should've at least done the spots to show? Otherwise she just looks weird.
At least the show added characters with animal bodyparts replacing the actual human equivalents like Fiona or her uncle. It really sets the Faunus apart from humans besides basically a human model with some ears or a tail slapped on them.
Why does Pyke look like every Asian kid who's mum discovered bowls and scissors as hairstyling tools?
I hate him and his stupid face. His outfit is ugly, his colour scheme is ugly, his weapon is stupid and his Semblance is a shitter version of Qrow's and Clover's.
His design is the least horrible to look at, and I think it does alright in what it's trying to do, but god his ears are so fucking funny to look at. They look like bear ears, it cracks me up.
The EDGE-
This colour palette is so boring, it's all literally different shades of black with the one splash of yellow in his eyes. People, this is what happens when you use too much of one colour, you get a boring mess like this.
His semblance is also literally just Silver Eyes. He can produce a bright light from his hands that can damage Grimm, I love that the writers keep making Silver eyes less and less useful.
Pyke: Hey Asher?
Asher: What?
Pyke: Can I ask a question that you may not think would normally come from me?
Asher: No.
Pyke: Hey Asher, if we have to go against Abigail, are you gonna be okay with that?
Asher: I haven't really thought about it.
Pyke: I don't wanna rush you, but you might wanna have an answer soon.
Asher: You planning something?
Pyke: No. I'm just worried. And I want to make sure we're taking care of you too.
So, in Grimm Campaign, what does Pyke's semblance actually DO? Everything I read just says it lets him leave choices to fate, and I'm over here like "so his semblance does literally nothing, huh? What's the use?"
He’s not leaving things up to fate so much as he’s interfacing with fate itself, following down a path of either extremely lucky/right outcomes or unlucky/wrong outcomes. Qrow or Clover’s Semblances passively affect their actions and events around them, but Pyke is able to make choices (or guesses) align with fate in his favor, so it's different from solely luck or fortune.
Example: Pyke needs to guess the password to a computer. Of all the infinite possibilities, his Semblance (when successful obviously) may allow him to guess the password. He doesn’t know the password, but his guesses are pulled towards the desirable outcome of accessing the computer.
Sounds OP, right? Well, it uses Aura, he’s not very smart, and he has a very high chance of crit failing instead. Still, it’s far from doing “literally nothing.”
No one:
Chad James, every time he rolls a 1:
RWBY: The Grimm Campaign Character Sheets
On the fourth episode and once again words cannot describe how this really isn’t the right team for this kind of investigative mission whatsoever. Fenix is hungover, Pyke thinks maze-navigating tips from his mother will be legitimately helpful in the criminal underworld and Asher’s so shady when it comes to literally everything he’s unable to avoid standing out in a city full of criminals.
Arrastra appears to be the one sane, reasonably well-adjusted person in the team so far - only time will tell whether or not this lasts.
I love this chaotic family of nitwits.
