street fighter 6's character trailers usually have some kind of significance in putting the highlighted fighter against someone else

yasmine fights kimberly and ingrid--in kim's case, what makes her an interesting choice is their musical themes. what we hear of yas' theme "Silga Up!!!" has a leitmotif that sounds similar to kim's "ninjastar pop"

it's ironic that "sigla" has a slower tempo than ninjastar, given how faster yasmine's meant to be than kimberly (at least, from this trailer). it feels like yas is meant to be positioned as a friend or rival to kim during her arcade story, if she gets one

this could all be wrong but either way, yasmine looks fun as hell and it's been cool to see everyone's responses to her

Devil May Cry is a frustratingly competent show that more often than not, makes me want to grip it by the shoulders and demand, “what is your problem, dude”

An improved season that nonetheless feels over and underwritten and can’t get outta its own way. Constrained by trying to adapt and incorporate 3 or 4 games worth of material into 8 episodes. Even to someone who’s not a capital-f Fan, this approach feels incredibly scattershot despite the writers’ best attempts at threading things together.

On the plus side, the returning cast feel more comfortable this go around. Not all his lines are winners, but Johnny Young Bosch is a good Dante, and Robbie Daymond is a genuinely great Vergil despite the story not entirely knowing what to do with him. Mary/Lady’s also better…to a point; they tone down her excessive swearing and understandably don’t let her off the hook for sticking with DarkComm. I just wish the show wasn’t so on the nose about her romance with Dante and didn’t feel like it was repeating her arc from last time around.

Netflix DMC isn’t quite slop, but definitely junk food you’re gonna regret mid-chew. For every moment it looks great or gets off a fine joke, it’s not long before it does something to undermine itself. It feels like an earnest attempt at adapting a beloved franchise by someone who can’t let go of their worst impulses and idk how much grace, if any, they’ll continue to be afforded should the show get to the more recent games.
