calling all drawtectives fans!

i'm making a (dinky lil) zine for our favorite guys! it will contain art and some ficlets, but I need some ideas! if anybody has anything they'd like to see, either drawn or written, PLEASE drop it in the tags or replies! I have a couple things already, but not enough for a zine.

Were you always this gentle?

MK doesn’t quite remember when he began letting Macaque near him again, as in, when he started letting Macaque take care of his injuries. Not that he minds it, the six eared demon has proven himself trustworthy more than enough ever since Lady Bone Demon was defeated for good. 

This particular injury happened during a sparring session with the aforementioned monkey, who MK forgot was,,,brutal during spars, which now resulted in bloodied knuckles and a scar across the side of his head. An accident, really, seeing how Macaque was apologizing profusely as he stopped all sparring and reached into a portal for bandages- or well, a whole first aid kit. As soon as the sparring was stopped, Pigsy, Tang, Mei and Sandy were shoved aside by the demon monkey, MK had been checked over fully at least three times, which, if you ask MK, was a bit much.

But he supposed, given the hole in the stone in MK's perfect shape, he can't hold it against Macaque. 

He attempts to tell Macaque that he's fine, it's just a small scar on his head, really he didn't feel it at all! But the concerned face of his substitute mentor told him otherwise- okay- it stung and he only felt it as Six Ears was cleaning it.

There is a certain gentleness to his touch, careful, as if MK's injuries would get twice as bad if he wasn't as careful, if he dared touch his skin with sharp claws it would gain new cuts. 

Really, when he looks closer, there is no usual, laid back facade, he isn't scolding him for his clumsy moves, or his lack of focus in the moment, no jabs, just silence, focus, attention fully set to patching him up. 

Was he always this gentle? 

Thinking back to when they trained together behind Monkey King's back(something he still feels bad about), despite the scolding and harsh criticism, Macaque's hands were always gentle, always fearful while patching him up or handing him food and drinks. The small break in his mask during those moments stuck with MK, etched into his memory, never to be forgotten.

Macaque mumbles that he'll have to take the rest of the day off, maybe even tomorrow, for the magic to heal him properly. Rest will do him good.

MK opens his mouth but Macaque shushes him, tells him they'll save Wukong, and the world, what he needs to focus his energy on is resting and healing. MK says he wasn't about to complain, but ask if he'd rest with him, after all, they both need to recharge their strength, right? MK gives the elder monkey a sad puppy look, his form glitching out again, and Macaque pats his back, trying to mask and hide how his voice softens as he agrees. 

MK giggles, the younger monkey resting his tail over Macaque's, he doesn't move, doesn't flinch, Macaque allows it to happen. He clears his throat, moving and nudging MK up, but instead the successor leans against him, nuzzling his head to his chest with a small smile, curling up next to him with his head in his lap, already dozing off. 

He stays awake long enough to take notice of Macaque's hands petting through his hair, with a touch even gentler than earlier, as if he were scared of accidentally hurting him again. MK falls asleep with a single thought. Macaque had a soft spot for him from the beginning.

Leo would say something he didn't mean and piss off Donnie enough for him to go home and tell Mikey that he's being a dick. Then they'd drop the subject and leave him alone until he inevitably set off Raph again.

since crow said I wouldn’t here’s a couple of random snippets that are...semi related, actually. In a way. They are also both entirely without context, the first is almost certainly never going to be completed, and there’s very little actually here but. You know what. It HAS been a long time since I posted snippets.

Despite the fading sunlight, the stone beneath his scales is still warm and comfortable. Stretching out his claws in a stretch, Hazel shifts and rotates until he can press the bulk of his body against a spot of fresh warmth. With a long exhale, the steam of his breath escaping into the cooling air, he lets his eyes fall closed and returns to his dozing. 

He is pulled from his slumber some time later - he can't be sure how long he's been sleeping, but he wakes to a dark sky littered with blinking stars and cool stone beneath his stomach. Hazel blinks, yawns, considers moving back into his cave - and thinks nothing at all of his waking, until he feels a sudden, brief pinch of pain at his flank. 

He's on his claws in an instant, snarling as he turns in a tight curl and snaps his maw at whatever it is that's agitating him. He expects small, carnivorous beasts - or a particularly large, bothersome insect. So he is surprised that his teeth snap closed only mere inches from a human, instead. One who moves back only enough to avoid Hazel's teeth - but doesn't flinch a bit, otherwise. 

"I didn't mean to wake you," they say, without hint of apology at all.

Hazel stands with his hands clasped firmly behind his back. Puffs up, a little, to be sure he stands out among the small line of others like him. Not that he has to try all that hard - his status does most of his work for him. His family line has long been decorated, appreciated, chosen time and time again by knights of the highest order - by dukes and barons and the best of society. 

But even among his own blood, Hazel is the first to get a chance like this. 

As they wait for the guests of honor, Hazel eyes his competition. There aren't many of them, this year - only a handful, when Hazel has heard of choosing ceremonies numbering in the hundreds of his kind. And in the batch, he stands out the most. Dressed in soft, clean fabrics laced with gold and silver silks. A few badges passed down his family line pinned to his collar and chest. 

It almost feels too easy, he thinks, his lips curling at the thought. 

Sudden fanfare announces the royal arrival, and Hazel snaps his attention forward.
