🇮🇩 Pyroclastic Flow Descends from Mount Merapi, November 26, 2025
🌋 On 26 November 2025, a pyroclastic flow descended from Mount Merapi, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes. The dangerous mixture of superheated gases, ash, and rock fragments rushed down the southern and southeastern slopes.
According to preliminary reports, authorities have raised the alert level and warned residents about a possible expansion of the danger zone. Ash emissions are disrupting airline operations and posing health risks to local communities, especially in densely populated areas of Central Java, due to deteriorating air quality.
Scientists note that Merapi’s activity remains unstable, influenced by rising volcanic pressure in the region amid ongoing global climate shifts. Experts continue to monitor the volcano, while emergency services stand ready for potential evacuations.
