Idk if it's funnier if Zachariah made Dean Smith gay as a way to try and get Dean to cooperate by misguidedly trying to trigger some sort of internalized homophobia, as if showing him a more 'flamboyant' version of himself will make him go 'ew yucky can't turn into that' (didn't work) or if he never intended for Dean Smith to swing so hard into homosexuality and every time Dean Smith did something gay he's like 'wtf, I didn't make him do that??' because a Dean without the stress of hunting and the apocalypse and being the literal pillar that holds everything together can readily and easily explore his wants and desires, either scenario it just made Dean a more wistful yearner for what could have been and backfired because Zach is a Dean misunderstander through and through

i just don't think dean or cas care abt labels at all. dean is a gen x-er who grew up pre-internet and his queer experiences were shaped by the times. he is not looking up microlables or saying things in the gen-z PC way. and cas was a wavelength for billions of yrs. he too does not care. nor does he care what dean calls himself either. they're both just like, yea we like each other so so much and fuck abt, it's not any of your business tho, keep walking.

if supernatural was even more insane they would’ve had a case episode where sam and dean are contacted by an evangelical parent who is convinced their kid is possessed by a demon. So Sam and dean show up but lo and behold the parent just thinks the kid must be possessed by something unholy bc they found out their kid is gay.

So then the plot progresses and there IS some actual supernatural shit going with like. the sister or something. So Sam is investigating and researching the actual monster meanwhile dean is having super emotional heart to hearts with this kid about how there’s nothing wrong with them for loving who they love and demons have nothing to do with that. And he leaves that case feeling TOTALLY FINE

I do think a lot of moments when people think Dean is being causally homophobic are times when he's making an in-joke as a gay person lol. It's the difference between a gay person calling you gay for doing gay shit vs. non-gay people calling random shit gay coz they lack imagination in insults.
