I'm just saying a Sonic AU of Para//èles (English: Parallels. Great show. HIghly recommend. I watched it on Disney+) would go so hard. Here, let me give a rundown of my ideas/the show:

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy are Sam, Victor, Bilal, and Romane. Sonic, Knuckles, and Amy are the same age. All four are in the same grade, but Tails purposefully failed because he wants to be with kids his own age and make his own friends and stuff

Sonic and Tails are brothers. Sonic is the favorite kid because he's social, athletic, kind, etc. Tails has a complicated relationship with their parents because he's a genius and they don't quite understand him

Amy is Vanilla's child, and Cream is her younger half-sister whom she absolutely adores. Cream's father (so, not Amy's) has come back into their lives, but he's a piece of shit. Amy is holding her tongue because Vanilla loves him and Cream deserves a father

Knuckles could be Tikal's kid. Or maybe she's just his older sister whose raising him after their parents die

The story begins with Knuckles' birthday. The four friends go to a semi-underground room beneath a dam to celebrate. When the clock strikes midnight, a strange event happens that leads to branching paths

For Sonic, everyone he knows disappears, replaced with a strange, old echidna. He runs away from the echidna to call the police, hoping to find his friends and brother. The search doesn't bear any fruit. They have well and truly disappeared, leaving him completely alone in the world

In another parallel reality, Amy and Tails are the ones left behind. They wait for Sonic and Knuckles to return. By morning, they come to terms with the fact that they're never coming back. Their lives continue with this knowledge. Amy works hard to support Vanilla and Cream and protect them from Cream's father. Tails is sent away to boarding school because his parents never understood him and blame him for Sonic's disappearance, causing him to develop a more 'Nine' personality

And in yet another parallel world, Knuckles was the one left behind. He lives his life all the way to adulthood, eventually starting a family. When he and Tikal figure out what happened, he tries going back in time, only to end up in the reality where only Sonic survived. He tries convincing Tikal that it's him. That fails, but he does manage to convince Sonic of his real identity

Like Knuckles, in Amy and Tails' timeline, the latter starts piecing together what happened. He's determined to get his brother back. Amy doesn't believe Tails, but she needs something to believe in after Vanilla dies and Cream's dad threatens to take the girl away from Amy. Together, they, too, end up in Sonic's reality as their older teenage selves (18/19). They are able to convince Tikal it's them, and then they're all working together to make things right and return everyone to the right reality where they all exist and get to grow up together

Side-note, there's a plot-thread of this event happening in the past in the show. My idea is that several years ago, Marine was lost to a parallel reality, leaving Blaze all alone

Alterations I would make: Ship and let ship, I always says, but I personally don't ship Knuckles and Amy, so yeah, in his timeline, it's only him. Instead of nuclear power and stuff, the disturbance in space-time is caused by experimentation on the Chaos Emeralds, which is how Tikal would fit into it. She's not a 'scientist,' exactly, but she is an expert on the Chaos Emeralds

I need to talk this!!!! I was bored last night and neede something to watch while I crafted so I just clicked on a show Disney + has been suggesting and OH MY GOD

It’s really good I stayed up till 3 am binging it it has only 6 episodes which sucks bc it’s really good, but it’s good bc it’s such much easier to watch

It’s called parallels its a French show, from the get go it remained me of Teen Wolf season 6a & Stranger Things (which is probably why I stuck around bc I love this shows) but has something else it’s not a copy of Stranger Things it has more complicated plots with time travel, parallel dimensions and powers

I love the characters, the 4 main characters are very likeable and it’s easy to put in their place, the one I didn’t connect enough it’s Sam but like he has nothing wrong he’s a nice guy (my issue it’s probably bc of his parents really and not him but… also him a little bit)

If you’re a Stranger Things fan you should totally check out this show

in a version of supernatural less afraid of queerness, i think dean’s favorite singer is bruce springsteen. it’s all there! leather jackets. complicated relationship with a father you’ll never be man enough for. dissection of working class american masculinity as a performance. homoeroticism. meaningful relationships with women but the great love of your life is a man. skinny jeans. passion and loneliness and dreams unfulfilled. horny about cars, even!

i’m rewatching s2 and being reminded of how much dean’s guilt over john’s death ate him alive and it’s making me wish all over again that dean had found out about the empty deal.

because dean would have seen the parallels in “your dad makes a deal trading his life for yours (and asks you to keep a secret about it)” and been deeply upset on jack’s behalf that cas wasn’t using his extra time to try to find a way out of the deal. and I think he’d have been downright PISSED at cas for making jack keep the deal a secret just so cas could avoid dealing with the emotional fallout.

i think cas expected dean to be mad if he found out and has counter arguments lined up in his head for those theoretical objections. and i think he’d be totally blindsided when dean comes at him with “you’re his dad, and he loves you. do you have any idea what you dying from this deal is gonna do to him? because i do, so let me lay it out for you.”

it would have been so juicy to see cas forced to confront the ways his assumptions of his own disposability hurt the people who love him!

one of my favorite things about the saileen destiel parallels is that they actually do two things:

emphasize the romantic undertones of dean and cas’s interactions by paralleling them with explicitly romantic moments between sam and eileen.

add weight and seriousness and gravity to sam and eileen’s relationship by paralleling them with dean and cas’s decade long commitment and understanding.

basically when you hold them up side by side, some of the explicit romance gets reflected onto dean and cas, and a bit of the “hey this isn’t just a fling” of destiel’s common law marriage rubs off on saileen.
