[image description: two photos of op kneeling in the grass outside. op is a slim 20s white person with very long wavy brown hair, dressed in chainmail and a dark green tabard with a brown belt, black pants, black gloves, and black leather gorget. they rest their hands on the hilt of a rapier, held point down in the ground before them. end image description.]
anniversary
So I finally finished this sketch of myself as the Nettle Knight. I've been in such an art block lately, not being able to finish anything to a place where I'm really happy with it but this has been a good first step!
It was rainy at the ren faire. These are the only pictures I got that don't include friends. I left my helm at home.
Because it was raining there was no joust or armoured fighting. Which was something I was hoping to see, but safety comes first!
I was the only person there in full plate. I think the other fighters and jousters opted to not risk rust, or didn't feel like getting wet. I got a lot of compliments from people, and that made my day!
And to those wondering -- my armour wasn't really rusty afterwards. Except the inside of my back plate, but that was from my sweaty back. Autosol and Carnuba wax are a great combination! All I had to do was wipe off the mud from my sabatons and greaves!
My partner makes trans pride chainmail bracelets !
buying one supports us, two queer people, directly !

i’ve always loved the “release of long hair after an epic battle” cliché <3
