((Oh hey so guys, I want your opinions . One of the main queer organizations in my area's director got a new a job. They decided to let us help pick the new one. At the queer hangout they host on Friday nights we got to ask the candidates for the job questions. They are both very well qualified. However both of them are cis, and only one of them identifies as queer. When we were discussing them afterwards, I brought that up. I said I would really appreciate having more queer adults rolemodels in my life, and since this is a queer organization, I think having them there makes a lot of sense. Even though it isn't at all logic based, it was still something that was important to me. Everyone got upset and said that if we hire someone based on their orientation we're being as bad as those that oppress us. I decided not to argue but I feel as though it's different. Whether not you believe non-heterosexual people are still an oppressed class, we are still a miniority living in a straight people's world. I don't even realize how much that gets to me sometimes. Am I just being too sensitive?))
