Book Announcement for July's Book Club!

Herewiss, Prince of the Brightwood, is the only man in centuries to possess the Power of the Flame, but he cannot use or control it, not even to help his dearest friend, Freelorn, the exiled Prince of Arlen. If I may be so bold as to cross the brands again for a moment, I must announce that THERE IS A QUEER BOOK CLUB STARTING IN RALEIGH, NC and yes I do need to shout because it's really cool and gods know we could really use SOMETHING cool right now.

If you are queer and you like books and you live near Raleigh, then you should come drink iced coffee (optional) and be weird and gay and talk about books with us.

The first meeting is on July 29 at 6:30pm and we're reading Only a Chapter by Heather Tracy. This one is extra cool because the author is also local and she's coming to join us so it's both a book club AND a meet-the-author event, so basically like the best possible combination of things. Also if you live in Raleigh and you've never been to Little Blue Bakehouse, you are seriously missing out and you should go there and eat pastries, especially on July 29 at 6:30pm, and ideally (but not mandatorily, you can wing it, we won't judge) after reading Only a Chapter by Heather Tracy.

Calling All Carolina Queers

YOU 🫵 have a story to tell and we want to hear it.

If you a) are queer (however you choose to define that), and b) live in the Carolinas (or used to live here, or might one day live here, or have family here, or... listen it's a pretty flexible criterium okay?) then you, yes YOU, are formally invited to share your story with Queer Vision.

You can do that one of two ways:

If you're a writer, artist, poet, essayist, photographer, crafter, small business owner, or basically anyone who has ever done anything that can be expressed visually or verbally, we want to showcase your work in Queer Vision magazine. Submit it here!

If you're anyone at all, we want to interview you for the Queer Vision podcast. A lot of people ignore this one because they're like "I'm not a content creator or a celebrity or anything, I haven't done anything, wtf would they even interview me about?" but it is one of the core tenants of our belief that literally everybody has a story to share, has something interesting going on in their life that they might not think is interesting because they're living it, but that other people will want to hear about. This goes extra for queer people because right now more than ever it is so, so important for even the most average, everyday, "boring" queer people to just visibly exist in the world. You might not think you're anyone special, but there's a queer kid just like you out there right now whose life could be changed by seeing you talking about how you're just doing your taxes or mowing your lawn or applying for grad school and while being unapologetically queer. Let's chat about it. Sign up here!

Vendor & Volunteer Call!

Come join us at the ABC’s of Community Readiness! -- a Queer + BIPOC Centered Health, Safety & Leadership Event

Hosted by Queerolina’s Nurse Nikki in collaboration with One Day at a Time, EqualityNC, and Carolina Migrant Network, this event is a space for underrepresented communities to gather, learn, and strengthen collective care.

Vendors

If you're an artist, business, non-profit, or other organization in NC with a focus on health, activism, or community, come vend with us!

Spaces are just $50, with outdoor (10' x 10' booths) and indoor (6' tables) options available.

We're looking for: -Nonprofits & advocacy groups -Healthcare providers -Community educators -Mutual aid networks -Emergency preparedness instructors -Grassroots organizations -Artists and crafters whose work aligns with empowerment, safety, and healing

With a priority on: -BIPOC activism -Queer liberation -Immigrant advocacy -Healthcare equity

Space is limited, so don't wait to apply!

Volunteers

Queerolina events are community-powered, and we’re looking for kind, reliable folks to help make our event run smoothly. Volunteers help support our vendors, teachers, performers, speakers, and guests so everyone can focus on having a good time.

Roles vary in time commitment and responsibility. You’ll be able to choose what you’re most comfortable with when signing up, and roles that involve significant lifting, walking, or other strenuous activity will be marked clearly. Some roles are short shifts, some are ongoing throughout the day, and you can choose what you're available for.
