when you're plural, every game is multiplayer!
So this is our take on system terminology. We saw a post the other day saying that the asker was fine with endogenic systems, but thought that endogenics shouldn't use "system" or "plural" and should instead create their own terms. Let me say this nice and loud for the people who need somebody to shout through a bullhorn before they pay attention:
PLURAL IS AN ENDOGENIC TERM. SYSTEM IS A COMMUNITY TERM. THE MEDICAL TERM IS MULTIPLE.
[Pt Plural is an endogenic term. System is a community term. The medical term is multiple.]
You can really tell when people have put in zero effort to learn about the history of some of the terminology they use. "System" has always been a community term, going back to at least the 1990s. It has always been used by both traumagenic and endogenic systems. "Plural" was coined in the late 1990s or early 2000s as an alternative to "natural multiple." The thinking was that referring to what are now called endogenic systems as "natural multiple" systems not only tied them too closely to medical terminology, but also implied that there was something unnatural about what are now called traumagenic systems. The term "plural" was coined by natural multiples in order to distance non-disordered systems from medical terminology.
Once more: Plural was coined by natural multiples (endogenic systems) to distance themselves from the more medical terminology "multiple systems."
If you're out here saying endogenic systems should coin their own terms to separate them from the medicalized system community, THEY ALREADY DID! [pt They already did!] If you want a separate term for disordered systems, your term is "multiple."
Please for the love of everything do some research! This is why the endogenic community gets pissed about the terminology debates. The answers to your assertions are right there. Take five seconds to make sure your argument isn't entirely ignorant of the history of the system community as a whole. I'm so sick of this and I'm not even 100% endogenic. You have the entire internet at your fingertips. Use it.
I will add citations and links later today or tomorrow. I just got off work and am very tired and have a bunch of housework to do. This has just been nagging at me in the back of my head for like three days now. If anyone else would like to add sources, be my guest.
I don't see this talked about very often, so shout out to the non-disordered systems who have disordered traits!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who have dissociation!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who experience dissociation between switches!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who struggle to ground themselves!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who experience dissociation which is totally unrelated to their plurality!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who have amnesia!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who have strong barriers between members, making it hard or impossible to share memories!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who are amnesiac due to a traumatic brain injury, rather than their plurality!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who forget things easily and have to write notes to remember!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who have to write notes to be able to communicate with other members!
Shout out to non-disordered systems who have both dissociation and amnesia!
And shout out to all the other non-disordered systems who have disordered traits and combinations of traits which I haven't mentioned here!
Too often, we see the assumption that dissociation and/or amnesia + system = disordered, and as a non-disordered system who experiences dissociation ourselves, it's somewhat frustrating to feel left out of the discussions. To be disordered, there needs to be the key element of clinically-significant distress.
So, to everyone from the most dissociated, amnesiac system out there who doesn't feel distress from their symptoms, to the system who has only occasional bouts of dissociation from sensory issues, to the system who has difficulty remembering things due to brain injury, this post goes out to you!

heya! neon here to say that endogenic and non-disordered systems are welcome on this page! i will be putting other syscourse opinions of mine under the cut.
- DID/OSDD-1 systems need their own spaces
- it is possible to have multiple people in one head
- the term sysmed is comparing this to transcourse, which is entirely different, and so should not be used.
- alter race is racism
- white systems can't use POC names
- it is important for endos to not spread misinformation about DID/OSDD-1 in acting as if non-disordered plurality is the same as DID/OSDD-1
little change in opinion here because I've seen some posts and also discussed things with other alters
I've decided to be endo neutral. if you're endogenic? cool! if you're quiogenic? nice! just vibe with us then. feel free to interact with our posts!
just be careful and make sure trauma specific spaces are reserved for trauma survivors
I'm not gonna make endo positivity posts but I'm also not gonna invalidate you in posts
I don't really understand how non-traumagenic systems work but you're not invalid because of it, I don't have strong opinions on the matter anymore
as long as you're kind and respectful I don't care about your origins
that's it, have a good day
Honestly people shitting on @fellow-endos baffles me. Like how can you treat other members of your community like garbage because they hold a different opinion than you? Just because FE isn’t bandwagoning like the majority of you doesn’t make them any less apart of your community. Sorry but FE has done more than the fraction of you combined have and will ever do regarding the amount of people who dislike you guys. I can’t tell you how many anti-endo systems have “converted” because of them. They’re a reason the mods got the idea of making the syscourse server more endogenic inclusive. They’re a reason I personally decided to turn this blog to actual syscourse and not just spewing hate at everyone I disagree with.
I think it says a lot when a decent sized group of “anti-endos” have been backing @fellow-endos since we first met them even before they made their blog. They’re the sweetest beings I’ve ever met and deserve a chance to speak their mind and to be listened to before y’all start popping off and accusing them of things. Ty.
I'm trying to find some works of fiction featuring people who are plural (especially OSDDID systems, but any form of plurality is good), but I just keep running into crime thrillers where the villian is a serial killer with DID/MPD (depending on how old the book is) and similar shit. So I wanted to see if anybody had any suggestions.
I recognize my own coping methods well enough to know that this is how I process things. This was how I processed being nonbinary. This was how I processed being diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder. So I recognize that this is me beginning to really process being diagnosed with DID. (That's why I say I'm especially looking to find stories about DID systems - because that's my diagnosis - but again, any plurality is good so long as it isn't being portrayed as scary and evil. Truly and sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, fuck the serial killer/evil alter trope.)
I'm open to any form of fiction. I already know about the Moon Knight comics/TV show, I'm in the process of reading the Elle(s) comics, and I'm currently listening to the Malevolent podcast. But comics, novels, TV shows, audio dramas, fanfiction, I genuinely do not care what form of media or what type of plurality. I'm just trying to find fictional representation of plurality that isn't the Serial Killer Alter™️.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
