Your trauma is valid even if you were groomed to like the abuse at the time.
working on Ahri crystal tails sometime this weekend. super excited! making all 9 of them, wish me luck :') will be posting progress pics!
I know this is a controversial hot take but being bi is not a bad thing. You donāt have to try and preface it by saying you prefer one gender over another. Iām very sorry that people treat bi people so poorly that it feels necessary that does suck. But preferring one over the other doesnāt make you both.Ā
A bi man who prefers men isnāt a bi gay. Heās just bi. A bi woman who prefers women is still bi. Not a bi lesbian. Thatās all I have to say.Ā
I don't want to be the "two-faced gemini" stereotype but I've been so traumatized my brain created multiple people so
things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you donāt have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if itās only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joeāsāthey look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you donāt post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you donāt deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you donāt have to make it a habit itās just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015
Almost all of these are about variety. Humans need stimulation! We need enrichment! We literally cannot do the same thing every day!
The other day I was feeling miserable, so I hopped on a bus and rode it all the way back to where Iād started, and my brain, which had finally had some proper stimulation via new environments, was suddenly ready to go again!
This is why taking walks/drives and trying new hobbies are good for you! Donāt turn yourself into a sad zoo animal! You need some pumpkins to roll around in your enclosure!
ITS BACK!!!!!
god i fucking love the quote ādont turn yourself into a sad zoo animalā it has really inspired me!
DO YA'LL WANT SOME FANTASY AND SCI-FI BOOKS/SERIES/AUTHORS TO REPLACE HP/JKR? THEN BOY DO I HAVE SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOU!
TAMORA PIERCE HAS 8 SERIES (9 IF YOU INCLUDE HER MOST RECENT ONE) ABOUT LADY KNIGHTS AND A DEMIGOD WITH ANIMAL MAGIC AND A COP WHO CAN TALK TO THE DEAD AND THERE'S 4 MAGES WITH A MAGICAL PSYCHIC BOND AND ONE OF THEM IS A BLACK LESBIAN AND THERE'S A SPY WHO HELPS WITH A REVOLUTION AND THEY'RE AWESOME. (there's some attitudes that are a little outdated but TP started writing in like the 80s so)
BRIAN JACQUES (OBM) WROTE THE REDWALL SERIES WHICH IS ABOUT ANIMALS WHO LIVE IN AN ABBEY CALLED REDWALL AND THERE'S HEROES AND WARRIORS AND PIRATES AND BADGERS WHO LIVE IN VOLCANOES AND SAILORS AND OVERTHROWING TYRANTS AND DEFEATING VILLAINS AND GENERAL BADASSERY AND THEY'RE JUST REALLY COOL OKAY? GO READ THEM
NEXT UP WE HAVE KA APPLEGATE WHO WROTE ANIMORPHS. I DIDN'T READ THEM BUT APPARENTLY THEY'RE GOOD BOOKS WITH RELEVANT THEMES AND KIDS TURNING INTO ANIMALS. ALSO KA APPLEGATE ISN'T A TERF.
RICK RIORDAN. YOU LEARN ABOUT GREEK MYTHOLOGY AND ROMAN MYTHOLOGY AND EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY AND NORSE MYTHOLOGY IN AN EASILY COMPREHENSIBLE WAY. ALSO THERE'S A FAIR AMOUNT OF BIPOC MAIN CHARACTERS AND QUEER CHARACTERS AND DIVERSITY AND HUMOR.
ARTEMIS FOWL BY EOIN COLFER. I LOVED THAT SERIES GROWING UP. MORALLY COMPLEX MAIN CHARACTERS AND THEMES OF OVERCOMING SEXISM AND MAGIC AND TIME TRAVEL AND I'VE ONLY READ THE FIRST 5 BOOKS BUT THEY'RE GOOD. EOIN COLFER ALSO HAS ANOTHER BOOK THAT'S ABOUT FIXING YOUR MISTAKES AND I LIKED IT A LOT.
THE ENCHANTED FOREST SERIES BY PATRICIA WREDE. MAYBE IT'S JUST BC I'M ACE AND I THEREFORE LOVE DRAGONS BUT IT'S A GREAT SERIES ABOUT SUBVERTING TRADITIONAL FAIRY TALES AND JUST BEING AWESOME IN GENERAL.
A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. FATE USES 3 ORPHANS AS ITS PUNCHING BAG BUT IT'S KINDA EDUCATIONAL AND FUNNY IN A DRY WAY AND HAS A VERY GOOD REDEMPTION FOR THE MAIN ANTAGONIST. 13/10 WOULD RECOMMEND.
YOUNG WIZARDS BY @dduane. FOLLOWS TWO WIZARDS WHO SAVE THE EARTH/UNIVERSE OVER AND OVER AND OVER. HAS AN AUTISTIC CHARACTER. ONE OF THE MAINS IS HISPANIC/LATINE (I'M NOT SURE WHICH IS THE CORRECT TERM SORRY). REALLY COOL BOOKS.
UGLIES BY SCOTT WESTERFIELD. IT'S GOT 4 BOOKS ABOUT A SOCIETY OBSESSED WITH PHYSICAL BEAUTY AND THERE'S REVOLUTION. ALSO SCOTT HAS A SERIES ABOUT VAMPIRES THAT'S REALLY COOL.
THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES. LITERALLY ABOUT CLASS OPPRESSION AND REBELLION AND THERE'S GOOD DEPICTIONS OF TRAUMA AND WAR AND PTSD AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF (/s). REALLY GOOD.
WARRIOR CATS. NEVER READ THEM BUT IT'S CATS WHO ARE WARRIORS. HOW COOL IS THAT.
Anyway that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Feel free to add on.
PEOPLE. WHEN I MADE THIS POST, IT WAS MY INTENTION TO NOT INCLUDE BIGOTED WORKS/AUTHORS. PLEASE RESPECT THAT IF YOU WANT TO ADD RECS. THANKS.
saving this for later!!
I had 911 called for me at work earlier. I fainted and was completely unresponsive and the whole thing is fuzzy to me. apparently it was just due tk vertigo, but my boyfriend and I are pretty sure I overworked myself and it was caused by fatigue. I have the weekend off but I feel like I need to go in still. I'm not goinv to but damn if I'm not gonna feel guilty for staying home.
I love getting irrationally angry at people who have good pulls!!!
aka, my bf has 3 5 star characters and multiple 5 star weapons, someone in the genshin server pulled a double childe, and I got qiqi who I don't really want but I'll take her ig

Coping with flashbacks & nightmares
Because we become upset and avoid thinking about the trauma, the brain has not been able to process and file the memory away, so any trigger tricks the brain into thinking the even is happening again, right now, and we re-experience all the feelings and sensations as thought it really was happening right now.
Use these coping strategies and grounding techniques during a flashback: Grounding Techniques & Coping with Flashbacks
Use this Discrimination Worksheet PDF before a flashback, so that you can be better prepared to reassure your brain that the event is NOT happening again right now.
Set aside some time every day, maybe 15-20 minutes, to think about the traumatic event and write down some notes. Ā Try to make it the same time each day, which might be evening time if you have nightmares. Ā Finish this time by writing down a positive coping statement such as āI survivedā, āIām taking back control of my lifeā, āI have ā¦ā¦ Ā who/which supports meā.

āAVOID THESE PEDOPHILES AT ALL COSTS! ā
I was scrolling through Tumblr and came across a post of KNOWN PEDOPHILES ON TUMBLR (many of which have or want to rape actual children/minors)
THERE ARE ACTUAL PEDOPHILES ON TUMBLR TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH MINORS ON TUMBLR
PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST THIS LIST AND KEEP OUR MINORS SAFE
ā Reblogging the version not invaded by pedophiles/pedophile apologists ā
Lets fucking roast this shit out of em guys!
Just gonna say this again.
DO NOT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM INTERACT WITH THEM. JUST BLOCK/REPORT.
# REBLOG TO SAVE A LIFE!!!!
Keep away from these people. If you receive a message, donāt talk to them, donāt insult them, just block them and report. #KEEPMINORSSAFE
Man, thatās a long list of people to block. Iāll do it anyways.
This is really important theme for me as a person who loves a man which was falsely accused in a child molesting.
it freaks me out that I know for a fact that 5 or more of these people follow me. anyways got some people to go block
r/DIDcringe is a disgusting subreddit and Iāll do nothing but laugh when it gets banned.
All those people on that subreddit do is harass mentally ill folks whoāve endured severe childhood trauma because they have nothing better to do with their pathetic lives. Those people need to get a life and stop harassing us, the DID/OSDD community gets enough shit as it is.
I encourage that everyone who sees that subreddit report it immediately.

Whoa, I didnāt realize that it was so deliberate, I honestly thought it was unconscious
Scary, scary.
Gonna add on to this: From the other side of the bar, I see this crap all the time. Seriously. I work at a high-density bar, and let me tell you, I have anywhere from 10-20 guys every night come up and tell me to, āserve her a stronger drink, Iām trying to get lucky tonight, know what I mean?ā usually accompanied with a wink and a gesture at a girl who, in my experience, is going to go from mildly buzzed to definitively hammered if I keep serving her. Now, I like to think Iām a responsible bartender, so I usually tell guys like that to piss off, and, if I can, try to tell the girlās more sober friends that they need to keep an eye on her. But everyone- just so you know, most of the time, when someone you donāt know is buying you a drink, theyāre NOT doing it out of a sense of cordiality, theyāre buying you a drink for the sole purpose of making you let your guard down. So:
Tips for getting drinks-
1. ALWAYS GO TO THE BAR TO GET YOUR OWN DRINK, DO NOT LET STRANGERS CARRY YOUR DRINKS. This is an opportune time for dropping something into your cocktail, and youāre none the wiser.
2.IF YOU ORDER SOMETHING NON-ALCOHOLIC, I promise you, the bartender doesnāt give two shits that youāre not drinking cocktails with your friends, and often, totally understands that you donāt want to let your guard down around strangers. Usually, you can just tell the bartender that youād like something light, and thatās a big clue to us that youāre uncomfortable with whomever youāre standing next to. Again, we see this all the time.
3. If youāre in a position to where you feel uncomfortable not ordering alcohol:
Hereās a list of light liquors, and mixers that wonāt get you drunk, and will still look like an actual cocktail:
X-rated + sprite = easy to drink, sweet, and 12% alcoholic content. Not strong at all, usually runs $6-$8, depending on your state.
Amaretto + sour= sweet, not strong, 26%.
Peach Schnapps+ ginger ale= tastes like mellow butterscotch, 24%.
Melon liquor (Midori, in most bars) + soda water = not overly sweet, 21%
Coffee liquor (Kahlua) +soda = not super sweet, 20%.
Hope this helps someone out!
Backing this up from years of bar tending.
Adding to this:
When I was a fresh bartender, I had a couple sitting in the corner, already drinking when I started my shift. They seemed like they knew each other really well considering how much they had their hands on one another. But I still came by and asked if they were okay. The man just waved me off while the woman said, āI need some water.ā
The man laughed it off and told me, āShe doesnāt need any water. Sheās fine.ā
She was not fine. Clearly. I decided I was going to cut the two off anyway and bring them some water. As I was filling up the glasses, I heard the woman say, āStop. I said no. I donāt feel good.ā
Her tone and attitude changed instantly. She kept pushing his hand away when he reached for her face, turned her head away when he tried to kiss her. Loudly told him, āStop. Iām done for tonight.ā
So I made sure to refill her water the moment she finished it, and I stayed within earshot of them the whole night. And every time I did, the man got mad at me, told me to leave them alone. Their friends were there, surrounding them and told me that those two always fought when they were drunk and apologized, so I relaxed a little. But the last time I refilled her drink, I heard a loud crash.
She fell out of her stool and hit her head on the floor. And he calmly drank his drink. Their friends didnāt even blink. I jumped over the bar to tend to her and he just said, āDonāt worry, Iāll take her home. She always ends up like this. She drinks too much.ā
But it didnāt sound right.
Then the woman began convulsing.
I yelled for the other bartender to call 911 and when I did, the guy suddenly disappeared. I tried asking thr friends questions about him and they just blew it off as the woman being a black our drunk. And one of them said, āWeāll get her home. Donāt worry.ā
But when thr EMTs showed up with the police, they all disappeared too.
A few days later the woman came with an attorney. She asked me and the other bartender who worked before me some questions. Turns out, she didnāt know any of those people. They werenāt her friends or her boyfriend. They had met that night, when the guy asked her if he could buy her a drink. At the hospital, they found traces of Rohypnol in her system.
The guy had Roofied her. And his friends were in on it.
The security camera footage showed he had put something in her drink when she left for the bathroom before my shift.
So seriously, it happens. You have to be careful with your drinks! Always watch it, donāt let anyone handle it, and take it with you wherever you goāeven the bathroom. Or if youāre a regular at that bar, ask the bartender to put it behind the bar. Weāll do it.
Rb for that last add, donāt ever worry about being polite! Protect urself!
REBLOG AND SPREAD THE WORD!
Never EVER trust men
Take it one further, never, ever, trust strangers. Look, Iāve flown wing man with many a friend, gay, straight, and any other stripe of the rainbow. Iām your drink watcher, Iām the sober driver, Iām getting everyone home. Unless weāve agreed, in advance, that you arenāt coming home with meā¦and even then you get a status check before you split. Iāve seen women play just as dirty as men. Itās great to have drinks bought for you, but you owe them nothing. Remember, you didnāt ask that person to buy you a drink, they just did. If you donāt have a watcher, and the bar canāt cover,Ā either finish the drink before the bathroom, take it in with you, or simply never finish it. You didnāt buy it, you arenāt out anything!Ā
Non-alcoholic drinks that look like booze:
Seltzer water or club soda with a wedge of lime or lemon
Ginger ale or Sprite with a splash of grenadine (aka Shirley Temple)
Spicy V-8 or tomato juice
Coke and grenadine (aka Roy Rogers)
Iced tea and lemonade (aka an Arnold Palmer)
Kombucha
Sparkling cider or grape juice
You can also ask for virgin mojitos, daiquiris, or pretty much any fancy cocktail - bartenders have plenty of simple syrups and juices they can combine for something spectacular without a drop of alcohol.Ā Ā
Reblogging for this last list especially because guys, donāt assume how much alcohol you can handle if you donāt know.Ā
Why some systems have "cringey" alters - and why they're not actually cringey.
I'm talking about edgy alters, fictives (fictional introjects), and non-human alters...
1. DID is formed during childhood. While a new split can happen at any time after that, a lot of alters are created within a child's mind (or within the mind of a preteen or teenager). As kids a lot of us associate "edgy" with being tough and capable of protecting us.
2. Same as above applies here, but even as adults it's perfectly normal to become attached to certain characters. A lot of people with DID are also neurodivergent and therefore even more likely to latch onto fiction as a coping mechanism.
3. As our therapist says, it takes a lot of creativity for the brain to cope with trauma by forming a system. It makes sense that someone would have non-human alters. There's no wrong way to have a system.
- RJ
I also want to add that what most people consider "edginess" is actually the morbid mentality and interests that most people with traumagenic disorders have. Having a problem with "edginess" comes from a rejection of people with psychological trauma on a level that impacts their identity and interests. It's only natural that ppl with DID are """Edgy""" because the concept of edginess being bad was kind of invented to put down ppl with DID and similar disorders. - Jack
Saw this somewhere else and felt the need to post it cause no one else ever really tells you this stuff
My mom never really noticed. She noticed when she was breast feeding my little brother and blood started coming out instead of milk.Ā
My mom said she felt and saw a little lump in the shower. She was lucky enough she found it at stage 2
My mom had a mammogram. The radiologist thought the spots were just regular calcium deposits.Ā
Turns out it was triple negative breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nods. Mastectomy, radiation and chemo saved her life.
This could SAVE a life.
dont be embarrassed to reblog, this post could be life saving
Signal BOOST and pass it on. I had a breast cancer scare before (luckily it was just scar tissueā¦) and information like this kept me calm and collected at the docās.
As a cancer patient myself, who found my own cancer through a supposed LARPing injury last year, i know how scary it is and how important it is to catch it early. Please spread this around!

Someone I know found out because she felt a weird amount of heat
I'm tired of having nightmares. my psych had me try otc sleep meds and gave me a prescription for prazosin, but nothing's working. I don't even care about waking up in a panic, or being afraid to sleep anymore. it's the thrashing or scooting close or tossing around that wakes my boyfriend up multiple times a night that concerns me. I know he doesn't mind too much, but it's really irritating knowing that none of these meds help with keeping me more still at night and there's nothing I can do about it.
anyone have any tricks of the trade they can offer? I'm willing to try pretty much anything at this point.
**EDIT I MEANT PRAZOSIN NOT PREDNISONE**
since the whole parent tantrum thing I'm having ANOTHER flare that's causing me really bad pain and affecting my mobility. hopefully it's over soon. if it's not then I am FUCKED because I have to move and stand for work no matter what
