government functions in the dc world
ok working on my dpxdc story and digging deep on these parts. first thoughts and suggestions on restructuring how the u.n. functions in dc comics compared to the real world.
first bit i have kind of worked out is the first major change is the trustee council ship will have to be active in the dcu. considering how often they come into contact with new governments with aliens and other dimensions. i think it needs to be reworked as vetting for outer governments who want to make global packs
plus recognizing the different hero organizations that pop up either as operating arms of the un (jli) or as their own separate governing body who answers to it's self. (jlu)
i think my preference is jlu style for the league where the u.n. contracts out to them on occasion and gives support. even if it is its own separate entity. and maybe they work as a first contact intermediary or investigation force for the u.n. to prevent things like the yj reach incident.
there is an implied sense of self governance and international mobility in the comics world for these organizations that used to be hinted at or explored though not particularly in detail in the comics. that i'm not sure is really shown in modern comics as much. as the league is more often than not facing american military black ops groups. (waller, cadmus, argus, deo, whatever wonderwomans newest thing going on) as apposed to the 1980s cold war era comics where they faced more soviet military organizations.
i am in no way an expert on the un. or government functions, but i want to work out these bits in a way that is some what functionally understood, even if it's simplistic in world. which would mean it has to be structured or function slightly different than our own. i'd love to take suggestions here
