Hello. I’m gonna need help with something
So as you may or may not know I’m writing a book where rare genetics play essential parts.
You might also know that i often call out for people to tell me their own experiences to include in my book because I do want to be authentic in it.
You may ALSO know that one of my characters is a white kid born to black parents.
Now i’ve had this the other way around too. It’s not that hard to find struggles of white people not knowing how to care for black people. But struggles of black people raising white people are very difficult to find. Now i’m talking about socially. Of course culture and stuff is also gonna be a bug part of it. And I don’t navigate that without at least one black person by my side. But what I’m talking about is specifically like,,, physical stuff? I’m sure that it isn’t as simple as “the other way around” as the struggles for white parents with black children. White people know a lot less about how to treat black hair and skin than black people do about white hair and skin. As i was told bu my dear friend who i’m just gonna call T. for now, that’s because of the lack of education on Black health vs White health. However she did say that for parenting that would look a LOT different.
That’s why I want to ask first anyone with personal experience, or who KNOWS someone woth personal experience or can give me recourses on that experience.
As a queer, neurodivergent and disabled, person i really care about people feeling represented in my book and half-assing it or being not authentic just won’t do.
So please tag your friends and mutuals or reblog this so i can reach as many people as possible, so i can find people to help me.
Just gonna tag some people here lol
