When Abdullah grew older, everyone wanted him to be their daughter's husband, and many proposals came from all around the world. He was the most handsome and well mannered person of his time. Whenever he walked by people, they smelled a very beautiful scent coming from him. And when he walked during the night, he would light up the city that people started calling him "The Lamp of the Kaaba".
It was narrated that Abdullah (as) was hunting when a group of Jews saw him and decided to kill him. Wahab, the father of Sayeda Amina (as), was also present and saw the whole incident and rushed to fight alongside Abdullah and protect him. But, he witnessed angelic soldiers coming down and protecting Abdullah, throwing all of his enemies away. After witnessing that, Wahab asked Abdul-Mutalib for Abdullah and Amina to
get married.
It was narrated that when Sayeda Amina's mother, Barrah, went to the house to ask for her daughter's marriage with Abdullah, Abdul-Mutalib gave her a warm greeting. He said to her: "Your husband has done us a great favour, and we will never be able repay him. So go to him and tell him that if he ever needs anything, he can always come to me".
Barrah said: "We are aware that the kings of Iraq and Syria came wanting your son, and I come for the same purpose. Wahab has sent me asking you for Abdullah to become our daughter's husband".
When Abdul-Mutalib heard that, he looked at Abdullah to ask for his opinion. In the past, when marriage offers came to Abdullah, Abdullah's facial expressions could tell he wasn't interested. So when Abdul-Mutalib asked him about what he thought of Amina, he stayed quiet and didn't answer; that's when Abdul-Mutalib knew Abdullah liked her. He then told Barrah: "We have accepted your offer and are pleased with your daughter". Abdul-Mutalib's wife, Fatima said to Barrah: "I will come with you to look at Amina. If she's suitable for my son, we will accept her".
So Barrah exited Abdul-Mutalib's house extremely excited, and on her way back to her house, she heard a call say: "Congratulations! Congratulations! The appearance of al-Mustafa (sawa) has neared!" She then entered her house and told Wahab of what had transpired, so Wahab instructed her to go to Amina and to get her ready to meet Fatima. When Fatima saw Amina, Amina welcomed her, greeted her, and showed her the utmost respect. When Fatima saw her exemplary manners, she was surprised. She told Barrah: "I wasn't aware Amina was like this, even though I've seen her numerous times before!" Fatima then went back to her house and told Abdul-Mutalib: "I haven't seen an Arab woman like her before. I have accepted her, for our light will not go to anyone except to her".
The marriage ceremony then began, where each side gave an eloquent speech praising the other side. The marriage ceremony ended with a big feast.
