Why is Kaine not as smart as Peter and Ben?
Kaine’s the product of an imperfect cloning process; it’s why he’s also physically different (taller) than Ben and Peter, and why his powers are slightly different. Kaine’s also repeatedly been told by the Jackal that’s a failed clone and that he isn’t as smart as Peter, so his statements on his own intelligence are at least partially a reflection of that:
“If you had Peter’s brain in your head, Kaine, you know you’d agree with me.” (Scarlet Spider #20 -- that’s actually not Peter speaking, but Doc Ock in Peter’s body, just to clarify.) All of the Jackal stuff is intensely creepy!
