⚠️🚨‼️RAIN MCMEY JUST RELEASED ANOTHER BANGER OF A SONG‼️🚨⚠️
⚠️🚨‼️IT'S CALLED GOD KING GOOGLE AND YOU SHOULD GO LISTEN TO IT‼️🚨⚠️
Analysis of God King Google by Rain McMey:
"The mangers a rental dear, strangers not welcome here" stopping Christ from being born, and then the "three wise illegals" approaching an "empty cradle" cus, well, no Christ, "smuggling myrrh and frankincense". Christ died to save us from our sins and without him literally nobody can enter heaven cus original sin so thats fun.
The opening to Ozymandias, a poem about a rich man having a statue built of himself that time erodes, symbolic of hubris and greed and how little it matters, and the poem being disregarded as unimportant in a time where the leader is just like the rich man in the poem.
"Purchased London for 6 trillion roubles" russian currency. enough said.
"God King Google" a supreme ruler above all
"Hark the Herald Angels Sing" is usually the coming of Christ but since Christ wasn't born it implies we'll have another Messiah, one who strives for themselves and not the world.
"ai generated microscopic camels, maybe I could get a rich man into heaven" referencing "it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to pass through the gates of heaven" from. somewhere in the bible man idk im not looking it up I just know it exists.
"six deadly sins instead of seven" because greed is being preached as less of a sin by megachurches so they can get away with money grabbing
my personal favourite bit is referencing ozymandias and then having the poem getting talked over because it was the narrator's "turn to talk" because!!!!! ozymandias is about the foolish hubris of a king!!!!!! and how pointless his stupid hubris is when all that's left of his statue is legs and a half-shattered face, no trunk (symbolic of how there's no stability in something built of vanity and pride) and the inscription!!!!!!!! And the point of the poem is it's told as though it's being told to the poet in full and the poet listens and learns from ozymandias's mistakes!!!!!! But in the song the poem gets cut off after the first bit!!!! cus it's not being listened to !!!
three wise men apprehended but they only mentions myrrh and frankincense,,,,, the gold was used to bribe the officials to let the third wise man go, maybe? so showing moral corruptness
palantir is obviously just palantir the company
"jesus hold my beer lets turn this Kingdom to 11" turning something up to 11 is generally to refer to making something happen beyond maximum capacity, Kingdom obviously being the Kingdom of Heaven, so perhaps it's talking about making the Kingdom of Heaven something it's never been before, which confuses me a little bit because as previously stated, according to Christian theology, if not for Christ it would be literally impossible for anybody to get into heaven, but whatever. the line about jesus holding beer before it both the obvious pop culture reference and maybe a nod to water to wine.
also!!!! "Don't mind the mess I had to make some room for my possessions" because of greed!!!! just after seven deadly sins line
When they're quoting ozymandias, actually, they're not quoting just the beginning. "In amongst the lone and level sand". lone and level sands is from the last bit of the poem, So either it's rewriting the poem a bit (very cool) Or "I wasn't listening" becomes literal as we assume the narrator tuned out most of the poem!! which is my earlier point about ozymandias but even more hubris!!!!!
"no bread, no circus here" the idea of bread and circuses describes a political context in which the government attempts to generate public approval by providing the most basic needs (bread) and cheap distraction as entertainment (circuses). That and the chant that Lenin used to rouse the Russian Revolution was "peace, land and bread", showing how "bread" is the most basic want/need for anyone to be happy under a political leadership. This is meant to be representative of how under the orange wanker there's not even that basic need of "bread" actually followed through with.
"Yeah, bubbles burst, but we get frugal/"Business as usual"" is fun cus it's like. yeah the ai or the tech bubble will burst and there goes a shitton of money but instead of learning and changing behaviours corporations will instead simply keep doing the thing and making workers suffer, hence why we get more "frugal".
