The genus Bufo underwent a massive rearrangement recently. It was paraphyletic I think. Anyway, it became Bufo, Rhinella, and Anaxyrus to avoid paraphyly.

Hi scales, I saw you recommend Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Weruva cat foods. I would reccomend against anything made by Blue Buffalo-- they outsource their meats from China (their reps LITERALLY LIE about this) and put their money in advertising over quality. As for Weruva, I can only speak well for their Cats in the Kitchen line, their standard cans contain potato, a big no-no.

True, but they are better than science diet! I kind of put a little disclaimer in there but they're better than the bottom of the barrel foods.

Also, from what I've been told working in a pet store, just because the bag doesn't say "made in USA" doesn't mean the meat was sourced from Asia. They're not allowed to put that label on the bag unless EVERYTHING was USA made, including vitamins or supplements added, so a lot of foods can't claim that.

Not 100% sure if they do use Asian meats, but I also don't know that they don't, either. I would want to see actual evidence of that before claiming they do, you know?

My crayfish have all the things they need in its huge filtered cycled tank, but they're still trapped. I should let them go run around my house. My dogs won't eat them they have pincers. Their gills? They don't even like breathing that much.

It angers me when people fail to realize that the cat is not the only one that suffers outside. The amount of wildlife killed is beyond measure. Not only small animals, but the animals that hunt them, like raptors, owls, foxes...

exactly! your outdoor cat is both a predator and a tasty meal when you choose to be neglectful and let it roam around outside

First of all-- do UTHs need thermostats for an amphibian if they're on the side of the tank, not on the bottom? Second, can female bettas be happy alone or should they be in a harem? Finally, how frequently should a 5 gal filtered have water changes? Thanks!

Hello! Lots of different questions haha ok, here we go.

Do UTHs need thermostats for an amphibian if they're on the side of the tank, not on the bottom? Yes. Under tank heaters cannot be trusted to stop heating up, even if they say they will on the box. It is very important to use some kind of temperature controller in conjunction with them!

Can female bettas be happy alone or should they be in a harem? Female bettas are 100% happy on their own and I am actually anti-sorority. Way too much risk of fish fighting and killing each other.

How frequently should a 5 gal filtered have water changes? That totally depends on a lot of variables! Things like if the tank is planted, what kind of fish are in there, how many, if the tank is still cycling, how often you feed the tank, etc. But, on average you'll be doing weekly water changes. The exact amount you take out will vary!
