A little bit about me
My name's Spencer Joii. I live in Sugar Land, Texas and I'm single mother to a nine month old boy named Talon who I love more than anything. His father and I were on and off for two years until we ended things between us. After Talon was born, I would always ask him if he wanted to be at doctors appointments and other events. I started to feel as though I was forcing him to be a father to our son. I woke up and decided to put my big girl panties on and told him that if he wanted to be there, fine.. If not, that's fine, too. I made it clear I wouldn't be the one asking anymore, he would have to reach out if he wanted to see him. I have him full-time. I try and keep the situation as drama free as possible. Unfortunately, being a single mom isn't a walk in the park. I'm lucky to have family and friends to help me along the way. It really does take a village. It's an adventure, with a lot of ups and downs. I made this blog to write about all the emotions of being a single mother. The struggles we go through are a little different compared to a two parent household. More and more nowadays, there's broken homes, divorced parents, kids having kids, and a lot of children born out of wedlock. I want as much normalcy for my son, but I'm starting to realize it's not as easy as TV and movies make it look.
