Crown of Exile First Draft Complete 🎉

​I am happy and excited to announce that the first draft of Crown of Exile is now completed 🎉

It's been years in development, and while we're still a way off from its final launch, the full game is now completed and will shift into edits in the coming weeks. What this means is that by February 2026, expect an updated Steam demo release in anticipation of the game's full release in Q2 of 2026.

I cannot thank you all enough for the amount of support, kindness and patience you have shown me. Writing has always been my passion, and so stepping into the world of designing my own interactive fiction was definitely new for me. I learnt a lot throughout this process and have come to appreciate you even more during the tough moments when it felt like the code was fighting me on what I needed it to do.

While the game is completed, it doesn't mean there won't be any updates. As I work towards polishing it for the final release, I'll be asking for your feedback. If you would like to help shape the final game, consider providing feedback through this form​.

And for those of you who can't wait to play the full game, you can get early access to the alpha version by subscribing to my Patreon​.

Crown of Exile – Limited Access up to Chapter Ten

With Christmas around the corner and progress steadily approaching the final two chapters of Crown of Exile, I've decided to make the current Patreon demo available to the public for a limited time.

Time start: 21 Dec 2024, 8AM GMT +2

Time end: 22 Dec 2024, 10AM GMT +2

How it works:

During this time, the demo up until Chapter Ten will be made available on the public game page on itch.io. It will be available only to be played in the browser – no downloads will be available, sorry!

You will be unable to use saves from the current public demo so you'll need to restart the game from the beginning. The demo will remain until the end time on 22 December 2024, afterwards, it will be removed and the old demo up to Chapter Eight will return to the game page.

Why are you doing this?

It's been a hot minute since the last public update and a lot has been written since then. Everyone who has followed me on Tumblr and itch.io have been incredibly supportive and without you, a lot of the early chapters wouldn't have made it online. This is a thank-you gift for Christmas and a way for me to gather feedback from the broader public outside my Patreon.

Please keep in mind that I've been working on new chapters, not edits, so nothing new has been added to the earlier chapters. This demo access will allow you to play Chapters Nine and Ten.

None of this would be possible without my incredibly generous Patrons who voted overwhelmingly in favour of allowing public access to the demo for a limited time.

Crown of Exile Writing Progress

Hi everyone 💖 I've been MIA from Tumblr for good reason. Those of you on Patreon already know this, but I'm a few passages short of concluding Chapter Twelve — the one and only final chapter. There's still an epilogue to write, but the story plot will be done in less than a week 🎉

Progress Update - Crown of Exile

So. It's been a while. I'm alive, sort of. Do I dare tempt fate by saying I'm on the last chapter of Crown of Exile and if all goes well, we'll have the first draft done later this year? Probably.

In all seriousness, I should have stuck to traditional novels. No one tells you that branching variations are crazy until you're sitting there and writing three outcomes for four variations for four different paths. It's a lot but on the plus, I'm on the battle scenes which is when everything you've been working towards suddenly gets tested.

It's been fun but I can't say I love writing variations. Eventually, when this behemoth is done, edits will begin and when that happens, I'll be looking for some detailed feedback for implementing additional choices, dialogues and of course romance option(s). For fans of Virion, let's just say, it'll happen one day 👀

For now, rest assured that while things aren't being posted every few seconds, minutes and days, I am still very active on working on the game. Hopefully, the next post like this will be announcing the completion of the first draft 🎉

New to the update (Version 1.8) are the following:

The entirety of Chapter Eight;

Bidding farewell to those in Ishari;

Setting sail to the Southern Islands;

Chatting to your companions about Salyra, the voyage ahead and some romance;

Arriving in the Southern Islands;

Reuniting with Dena and a bitter foe from your past - Emos;

Alliance talks with Dena;

Choose to accompany Dena and Elora to secure an alliance; OR

Remain behind because politics aren't your thing and spend it with a companion of your choice;

Learn more about Dena's reasons for joining an alliance;

Deal with the weight of Dena's secrets;

Celebrate or worry about the success of the alliance;

Dance with one of four companions;

Smooch, hug or chat with one of your four companions;

Choose to stay the night with Prince Irus or Queen Elora; and

Optional explicit NSFW, fade-to-black or fluff scenes with Prince Irus or Queen Elora.

There are a lot of scenes that I didn't include in the chapter due to time constraints. Please note that while there are 'missing scenes', all choices are complete and won't lead you to a blank page. The major scenes of Chapter Eight are currently included in the demo. Chapter Eight Word Count: approximately 139 663 words. Total Word Count: approximately 585 173 words.

Chapter Eight is the last chapter of the public demo. Future chapters, including the epilogue, will be shared only with my Patrons until the game is released. The game will be a paid game, however, a price has yet to be set and I will announce that closer to the game's completion. While this is the final chapter of the public demo, I will still be very active on Tumblr so feel free to ask any questions and look out for previews and updates.

The realms have found peace and the era of bloodshed is over. But many have escaped judgment for the cruelties inflicted on those who stood against Virion and his soldiers dressed in red. Reprise your role as the main character from Crown of Exile and journey into the wilds in search of those who plot against the newly crowned King Irus and the stability of the realms. Your journey will be a difficult one, but together with a loyal steed and your wits for survival, you will set out to complete your task. Crowning Glory is a bonus game which is rated 17+ for violence, vulgar language and mentions of fictional war.

This game was previously only available to my Patrons but I figured that it'll be a while before I can continue working on it so for now, I'm releasing it to the public. Please note that the game is still very much in development and I'll likely post a completed version once the main game is completed. This is not a sequel to Crown of Exile but acts as a short game that takes place after the events of the main game (where the main goal of Irus reclaiming his throne succeeds).
