Congratulations @joel_livesey #Repost @joel_livesey ・・・ Team ‘Space City Striders’ completed the Hellhole Trail climb (7.7 mi 3,241’ 7.9%) in exactly 3 hours, 16 seconds. The 50mph wind gusts nearly blew us off of our feet! I had problems with hypoglycemia and hypothermia at the same time, all of a sudden, as I struggled to stay upright and not fall into a large cactus. The wind became cold and vicious. This was the low point of my race and section I DNF in 2017. But not this time. Team Space City was on top of it. I lost the ability to regulate my own body temperature and that is what warned me. “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” I ate and put on warm clothes. I monitored myself closely and ate some more. I stayed closely behind Charity and in front of David’s watchful eye as we trudged up the mountain. We made excellent time to Ranchita, 16 minutes faster than in 2016.
