You’re turned into a barely crawling toddler

Not to your amusement

But you’re barely two so you don’t really have a say

You and Raph weren’t exactly “dating” before

But hell if anyone is getting near you now

He holds you protectively even from his brothers

“I just need to do a test Raph”

“You hurt her and you’re dead.”

You still have the same big innocent eyes that make him melt

You cry as soon as he lets you into his brothers arms

He snatches you back and coos softly rocking you to soothe your wailing

He sings to you all the time

Even if it’s classic rock songs

He sings you Disney lullabies eventually

He might have gotten ahold of your playlists

His brothers are shocked

Who knew such a hot headed attitude “shoot first ask questions later” terrapin could be so gentle

Don’t get him wrong Raphaels terrified of hurting—dropping, squishing, upsetting—you

Even when he sets you down for a minute to do whatever you’re drawing your way back to him

You tug at his bandana tails

“Stop that.”

You giggle

“What you think this is funny?” There’s a smile on his lips.

You giggle and keep pulling at the pretty red fabric

He can’t get mad at you for it even though he tries

In some ways it’s like having Spike back but something much more precious

Splinter helps him take care of you, guiding him through feeding, napping, etc

Shredder tries his hardest to kidnap you but Raphael fights like a bat out of hell to get you back

Covered in bruises, blood and swear you still smile and giggle when you see him

“Hey there Baby Girl, why don’t we go home?”

You fall asleep in his arms

He passes out on the couch with you still cradled against him

No one has the heart to move you two

It brings protective and vulnerable to a whole new level

When your changed back he hugs you for like a solid minute

He’s not so afraid to break you as much anymore

You barely remember anything but you know you always feel safer when he’s near

He’s still protective of you

And seems to know exactly how to calm you from anxiety now

Of course you love him

And he’s always loved you

You tug at the ends of his mask still

It’s how you pull him close to kiss him for the first time

Then it just becomes a ThingTM

Sometimes you wonder what would be different if you did remember

But you see him passed out beside you still holding you tight and you decide it doesn’t matter

Dating Raphael (2016) would include:

He terrifies you when you first meet

Which sucks because he actually kinda likes you

You’re quiet but you make enough snarky comments to drive him mad

You’re too kind all the time

Even to him, when he knows you’re still afraid

And Karai (which he’s not sure he understands)

(She literally tried to kill you. Twice)

You never swear, unless it’s an accident

Raph loves your “swears”

Which include but are not limited to:

Fluff, shoot, heck, freakin, butthead, darn it,

And his favorite: gosh darn it

You’re incredibly stubborn

And also very emotive

Which means you go against Leo’s orders

A lot

Which he adores

I mean a little rebellion from Ms. Good Girl?

You guys get into arguments that leave him baffled because you actually win

You have a very sharp tongue

And you’re very good with words, when you do eventually talk

You avoid his eye contact

Which makes him think that you’re still afraid of him

Until you do it with everyone else

Then he just adds it’s to his list of things he likes about you

When you find out he likes classic rock too he’s a goner

He is overprotective a little too much

Which leads to arguments

“I can handle myself!”

“You don’t know what’s out there!”

“I know plenty! And so what if I die!? Who cares!?”

“I care! I fucking care if you die!”

You go quiet. Really quiet.

Raph thinks he scared and hurt you

You start to cry

He really starts to hate himself for hurting you

Then you run into his arms and just break down

No one has cared if you lived or not before

No one but his family has cared if he lived or died before.

His family has to, you want to.

Slowly mending the broken people that you both are

Until you two are whole and fused together

He likes to spoil you. A lot.

Which means a lot of complaining and blushing from you

“You said you wanted this”

“I didn’t actually think that you’d get it!”

“Why not?”

“Because no one just does that for me!”

“I will. Everything that I can give you I will.”

That softens you up.

You thank him for his gifts instead of yelling

You watch him work out and even though he’s tried, you’re not joining him

You like to watch him spar, it’s soothing to know that he can keep himself safe

But when he’s facing an adversary you’re terrified.

What if he doesn’t walk away from that fight?

You both figure out that you sleep better when you’re together

And that you’re both touch starved and always need to be touching when you’re together

It could be holding hands, draped around him, sprawled on his lap, feet touching under the table, shoulder to shoulder

You learn how to patch up wounds and give stitches

With help from Donnie

Who loves having “another smart person” around

You give Donnie your school books after you’re done with them

You have a cool respect for Leo but that’s about it

When he and Raph fight, no matter what, you defend Raph. Even if he’s wrong

You won’t give Leo that leverage

Mikey is like the brother you never had

He teaches you how to video game, and rap

You get pretty good at both

You introduce Mikey and Donnie to Tumblr

Then its all over for anything but fandom conversations

Most of which Raph tries to keep up with

Behind closed doors Raph actually loves cartoons and Disney movie.

You’ll always take the blame whenever you two get caught watching them

Raphael confides in you: emotions, hurts, his favorite “embarrassing” interest.

You explain to him that liking to make art is not embarrassing

You’re actually hyped.

Art is what you do

You teach him and most weekends you both end up covered in paint with a new mural on his bedroom wall

Those are date nights for you two

You don’t like going out and he can’t do there’s a sweet compromise in it

He says “I love you” first

Even though you’ve been wanting to say it for weeks

You’ve mumbled it in your sleep

Raph knew that. He liked to see you sleep.

You did it a lot

Especially in the winter when it was cold

He accused you of being cold blooded

You rolled your eyes at him.

He’s always hold you when you slept. If it was a nap or at night he was always there

Nights when you were apart, neither of you slept

Which led to a lot more naps

You’re the only one who could calm him down when he lost his temper

And there was no stopping you when you lost yours (even though at that point whoever did it deserved it)

(Most of the time it was Leo or Raph. Sometimes Casey)

You became a part of the odd family

Until one day you officially became apart of it when Raph asked you to marry him

You decided on tattoos instead of rings

((A/n: sorry for the lack of posting, I went home from college this weekend and have been doing /things/ (post to come) and I’ve had a lot of school work that has taken time from my creative writing because it’s academic writing and I get worn out. So here’s this. I don’t know what this is tbh))

You and Raph have been together for a while

You don’t mind the life style. It’s nice to hide away from the craziness of New York

You were a small town girl you didn’t do //cities//

None of the brothers pretended to understand your relationship with Raph

They didn’t know him like you did

He was your everything and you needed him like air in your lungs

So what if he was a huge mutant turtle

He loved you

Didn’t that count for something?

You’re okay with not being able to talk about him in detail to your friends

But they’re happy you’re happy

Until...

There’s an accident in the lab

It’s the one night you go back to your place to have a self care night alone

You get a call from Leo

He warns you to stay away until everything is sorted

Your heart drops when he tells you Raph got the main brunt of the explosion

You almost go against Leo’s wishes and go to your Raphael

Leo tells you no, Raph would live... but

You don’t like the “but...”

“Tell me!” You screeched threatening to come over

“He should tell you, not me.”

“Leo I swear to—” the line goes dead

You scream and throw your phone pacing and praying and crying

You fall to you knees in fear and pain

Trying to be comforted in the fact the Leo said that Raph would explain

That meant that he would be okay

Didn’t it?

You barely notice the sound of your window opening

It was normal after all

Until it wasn’t a turtle standing before you, but a... man?

You scream and attack

He laughs and detains you easily

Your heart is racing

This was too much tonight

The accident then this guy breaking into your apartment

Until you notice something very familiar

It’s not in his jaw, or his high cheekbones, or in the devilish smirk

It’s the same adoration and love in his golden eyes

Your eyes widen, trying to look for an explanation

“I... you’re...” you don’t have the words

There are no words

He grins and nods releasing you and running his fingers through your hair

You’re still in shock

You reach up and hesitantly stroke his face

You begin to realize that it is him and he’s here and human

Then he’s kissing you

And it is so weird, compared to who you’ve been kissing for the past year

And you haven’t kissed a human guy in over a year

Raph is gentle about it though, letting you adjust as he is

You find yourself crying for a different reason

“You’re... how...” a laugh of hysterical bubbles through your lips

“Don... I dunno, but this is me.” His voice is the same and it startles you

“Y/n?” He’s worried because you pulled away

“Just give me a minute.” You plead, rubbing your face

“Do you not like me like this?” There is hurt hidden in his tone

You reach out and take his hand

“I love the man inside, human or turtle.” You clarify. “This is just a little weird right now.”

He chuckles “try turning into a human.” He teased.

You laugh and wrap your arms around him, curling your fingers into his short cropped black hair

He’s still hesitant to touch you, afraid to break you like he was when he was a turtle

You’re not letting that fly

He might still be built but now he didn’t have to be afraid

You show him human things

Cooking/baking. He can crack an egg without crushing it now. He can use the oven

Showers at your place. Impractical until that moment

You’re blissed our. With the hot water and him pressed against you, holding you close, skin to skin

There’s nothing better

Other fun skin to skin activities

Which you take over and lead with the confidence of a lioness

Until he gets the hang of it and you’re blissed out for an entirely different reason

Raphael starts to fall in love with you all over again

You begin to expand your idea of who he is. He is so much more than the box you originally put him in

You two go out in public. Together. In daylight.

Walking down the street and little coffee shops and book stores

He’s scared at first, still trapped in the mindset of staying hidden

But you hold his arms and lean against him

He doesn’t feel so afraid with you on his arm

He never realized how bubbly and vibrant and kind you were to other people

He found himself looking in any reflection that he could

Just to see himself and see you happy beside him

This was how it was supposed to be

He was so scared that he would lose you because of this even though it was supposed to be a good thing

But you’re still you and you still love him the same

And he still feels like himself

He doesn’t like the vulnerability though

That’s one thing he misses

But then he looks back at you and realizes that he’d give that up to see you smile in the daylight

You ask him to move in with you

He does

He can finally hold you all night and not worry about hurting you

He starts to hold you a bit closer and a bit tighter after that

You don’t seem to mind

You actually love it and encouraged him

More skin to skin activities

There’s just so much to learn

You two had been hesitant about it before because of practicality

But now he was free to love you all night long

And he did

You two sort of go through a bucket list of things, knowing this might not last

There are so many pictures and so many introductions to your friends

They’re glad to know he’s real

Donnie finds a “cure”

You’re okay with whatever Raphael decides knowing that you’ll love him the same

You encourage him to not give up on who he is and where he comes from

You find yourself back in the arms of a turtle

And you couldn’t be happier

Archangels and Mutants Pt 2

Raphael x Nephilim!Reader

Summary: Your horizon of what was out there spread a bit more with each encounter with Raphael. You were flattered that he wanted to help you, but you didn’t need to be protected and you most certainly did not need to be told what to do.

Part 1

Walking home from one of my night classes, I caught a glimpse of a shadow following me. I debated whether or not I should take off or not. It was a nice thing about being a Nephilim, I could take off whenever I wanted to, and being cramped up in the city for college had left my wings with something to be desired. I was planning on taking off the weekend to head up the mountains so that I could stretch them, but it was Tuesday, which is slightly more depressing than Mondays.

I kept walking, however, turning off my music but keeping my headphones in. I could hear my surroundings, but they didn’t know I could. The shadow still followed me, never gaining ground to get to me, always on the rooftops. I was tempted to look up, but I knew if I did, I would scare my stalker.

Instead, I called April.

“Hey,” She answered sounding distracted. “What’s up?”

“I think there’s something stuck to my shoe.” I doubted that she would recognize the phrase, but I was proven wrong.

“Is there anywhere you can go that they won’t follow.”

“I just got out of class and I think I picked it up there. I don’t want to track it across the carpet in my apartment.” I chose my words carefully, knowing that I was being watched.

April didn’t answer for a moment, and I could hear a few voices on the other end arguing with each other before I got an annoyed April back on the phone.

“Where are you?” A different voice spoke on the phone, gruffer, familiar.

“I’m fine Raphael,” I said calmly.

“Bullshit. Where are you? I will have Donnie track your phone.” He threatened. 

“I’ll ditch it.” I snapped back. “I’m not a child. I can handle myself.”

“You don’t know what’s out there, Y/n.” His voice angry but I could hear the fear underneath.

I scoffed and gave in.

“Sullivan. By the park.” I bit my lip and kept walking.

“Stay in the park.” He ordered.

I rolled my eyes and hung up, making my way to the edge of the fountain and sitting on the edge, stretching my wings into the fountain, still keeping them camouflage. What you would consider the equivalent of stretching your legs out after a long car ride. Harmlessly scanning the skyline, I didn’t see my aggressor, but I knew he was there, I could feel the malicious intent in his mind.

I turned my music back on and got lost in the rhythm and melodies. It stayed like that for a song or two until I got a text from April.

A: I see you, you’re safe

Y/n: I don’t want to lead them back to my place. They’re still here. And did you steal April’s phone?

A: How do you know? And that’s beside the point 

Y/n: I just do.

A: That’s helpful

I could almost hear the sarcasm. I smiled at the text. I swept the skyline again, and something changed I could see Raphael’s silhouette in the distance. Frowning, I saw two silhouettes on the same roof with him... and that was all that I was able to make out. I didn’t know if there were more.

Y/n: You have company...

I hopped off of my perch of the fountain and casually made my way to the building that he was atop of.

A: What are you doing!?

Y/n: Saving your ass. Again.

I pocketed my phone and scaled the building easy with the help of my wings. And just in time too.

“Raphael!” I shouted and materialized a golden dagger that I threw out towards a looming shadowy figure.

I hated using force, but I had to. The turtle stared at me in awe for a moment before recovering and dropping into a battle stance, matching Sai’s in his hands, a wicked smile on his face as he turned to our adversary.

The back clad soldiers held no importance to me. I didn’t know who they were, why they wanted me, nor why they followed me. Raphael barely let me do anything, more protecting me than fighting along-side of me, which got on my nerves a bit. I was just as capable of fighting as he was, I just didn’t like to do it. I was a healer.

I was shocked to see the men in black turn out to be nothing but metal and wires; they had emotions, feelings that I could track, ones of malicious intent, but still emotion. Struggling to figure out what they were, I missed something that Raphael said until he shook my shoulder and asked again, drawing me from my thoughts.

“Are you okay?” He asked sounding slightly annoyed.

“Yeah, thanks.” I gave a tight smile. “What about you?”

He chuckled. “I don’t need any of your mojo if that’s what you’re askin’.” 

“Fair enough.” A grin stretched across my face.

“No offense, but what the hell are you?” He looked me up and down.

I could understand his confusion. He saw my vessel: taller for most my age, in a weird balance of not being overweight, yet never a hope of being a size two cheerleader, short cropped hair, big y/e/c round eyes, and what I guess by the number of advances I got from girls and guys alike, a pretty face. I could change my vessel looks at will, but I was comfortable with who I was now.

But he had also seen the part of me that wasn’t my vessel. My healing ability, and a very a tiny amount of my fighting power.

“Nephilim,” I supplied. “My mother father is human, my mother, an archangel.”

He stared at me, wide-eyed and I grinned.

“What’s the matter, cat got your tongue?” I drawled.

He recovered soon after that and rolled his eyes.

“Pfft. No.”

“Mhmm.” I wasn’t convinced, cracking a smile. “Thank you,” I glanced to the downed

robots behind us. “What are they?” I was fascinated as much as I was terrified. “The kraang.” He spat out venomously. “I can’t imagine why they were after you though...” He searched for an explanation that wasn’t there.

“Maybe they know...” I offered. His eyes flashed to mine. “That I’m...”

He gave one nod.

“You need to talk to the guys and Splinter. This could be something completely new. Something we need to see coming.” His tone had changed from teasing, to angry, to strategizing.

“I have to go home.” I cut in.

“No. You’re not staying out here alone.” He shot back.

“I am capable of handling myself.” I sneered. “I don’t need your protection.”

“You don’t know anything.” He spat as we glared at each other. “You’ll get killed.”

I snorted. “I highly doubt that.” I reminded him who and what I was with a golden flash of my eyes.

He growled at me, stalking up to me, but I wasn’t afraid, instead, I was just as ready for a fight as he was.

“You think you can take me, little girl?” He snarked.

“Any day. Pet.” This time I did unfurl my wings, letting them stretch fully, spanning fifteen feet on either side of me, glowing a faint gold, to match my eyes. “Come at me.” I threatened.

I could see the indecision in his eyes as he took a half step back, still growling slightly. He seemed less hostile than before, less anxious to fight. But I knew that was my doing. Just as I could feel the emotions of others, I could influence them. An Empath is the word the humans had come up with.

“Whatever.” He snapped. “Do what you want, I’m outta here.” Turning, the turtle disappeared into the night, along the rooftops of the city.
