I showed up a little late, but the fencing was fun and good training.
Working with a student and training partner on meisterhau and identifying the specific issues in the mechanics.
Going in mock bouts against a new face (with a lot of experience fencing back in Poland!) on the Waterloo scene and doing well. It’s a great idea to do these mock matches, every point counts and it’s something to help train the mental side of the game.
Staying relaxed and having a lot of fun in freeplay.
Being forced to acknowledge how much my gloves limit my sidesword/sabre game. Yes, this is a good thing, I’ve been in denial for too long.
Pulling off several ridiculous moves while the camera was on me.
Trying combination cuts a lot. Mixed success, but it’s great to be throwing low and unterhau Zwerches in sparring.
Things that weren’t so awesome:
Worried I had hurt opponents more than once, when one of those ridiculous moves worked too well and my push kick hurled them back like a special effect, and when a thrust stuck to the underside of the mask chin.
Still not being able to make the false edge cut on the upper diagonals work as a cover.
Need to try for more variety and control in my ringen-am-schwert and durchlauffen. As fun as it is to just blast double people...
