Faye, first and foremost thank you for your top notch writing with The Missing. All the characters are top tier. I'm curious if you have a controversial LI for any story on the app? Like one you are ride or die for, despite the general consensus being against them? If you do, does it inspire how you write your own LIS? Counting the days until we get MC'S full backstory. Once more, thank you for your amazing story. ❤️

I am re-reading your ask a few times and I'm wondering if you're asking 1) who my controversial LI is and then 2) if my controversial LI choice inspire my way of writing LIs.

Is this because you think my LIs are controversial? Or what... what is the question?

I'm gonna freestyle an answer, let me know if I hit the mark.

Firstly, by 'controversial', I assume you mean characters like Mehmed or Amrit or Amen or like.... Christian? Or the Masked Man? People who we are meant to hate and then woopsie-daisy, they're hot and it challenges the "morality" of romancing them, and then we have to battle in virtual balaclavas until the end of time.

No, I don't have a ride or die in that sense. I think Mehmed's character development is extremely interesting and I find him the best written LI in the book, but I'm not particularly attached to him. I thought romancing the Masked Man was perfectly insane and fit amazingly with a 'corruption of the youth' tale that ends in darkness, but I could never commit to the bit and the closest I got was ending with Luke (yuk).

If we're talking controversial as nonconventional, love interests that fandom rarely give the time of day (consensus being against them in that sense), then YES. YES I HAVE RIDE OR DIEs.

Derek, husband, LOML. He is prickly, not shy about going against us, warm and cold and sullen and agonizing.... I'm rolling on the floor, screaming his name. That's my man over there.

Is there a shadow of him in Mads Lauritzen? Maybe.... Along with a bunch of other characters and mannerisms of people I know irl.

Connor. He might be controversial in the first sense (thieving, drugging), but you could never make me hate him. He does what he does because he cares about someone. And then he starts caring about me.... and it's tough.... brb, crying....

Is Kuno a love letter to my big man? On some level, perhaps.... Kuno is different in many ways, but also holds the essense of what I love so much about Connor.

Other than this, I'm inspired by other media, people I've met, and tropes (yes, tropes) in trying to form love interests who are more than just in love with you.

Hi Sazanes, I love Connor!

I glance up at the hill where we’ve agreed to meet. I have a surprise for Connor, something he’s never done before. I hope he likes it.

”Hey…”

I feel a rough hand gently caress my arm and I turn around. Connor smiles back at me.

”Hey you…”

With a wide smile, I lean towards him and kiss him on the lips, a short and sweet gesture. He reciprocates, grinning as he looks around shyly.

”You’re awfully cheery today...”

”I’m excited. Did you bring what I asked?”

”I have the shovel with me yeah, but… I’m afraid to ask what we’re doing with it.”

”Well, for our first official date…”

I open my bag and gently lift out a small plant. Its roots have been neatly tied into a compostable piece of cloth.

”…I thought we should plant a tree.”

The tender plant rests carefully in your hand. Connors eyes go wide.

”We can do that?”

I chuckle and gesture for him to give me his hand so he can hold it.

”Of course. It’ll be our tree. We’ll take care of it and make sure it grows strong.”

Connor stares at the bundle in his large hand. 

”Incredible…”
