Fan art of Jen Wang’s book , The Prince and the Dressmaker ! I loved this book so much, and Jen Wangs art style is so beautiful, fluid and expressive. Kind of cartoony, but super lush. And omg the clothes in this book!

This is a page from my sketchbook which I've scanned in in high DPI. It surprises me how good something can look when you take the time to get a full picture of it!
Drew this to experiment with color to show light and dark. The blue is the shadow, and recedes, while the orange comes forward. One thing I learnt is that orange and pink are too similar to each other in terms of hue. That's why it seems like there are no midtones here.
