dudes, i was in the mlb fandom since 2016, but never got back to watching the show after season four was done (i was emotionally stunned by everything that season, and then the leaks on s5 made me not want to watch it)
but i have re-read bone tea (best miraculous fic ever btw) and now i just feel like i have to catch up, so here i am.
consider this a season five and six and movie (?) thread, and this is my personal season 4 refresher:
this is so cringe, the animation is so ugly omg i forgot about how bad it is
decided to watch it in french to make it better for my soul
dude nevermind i fucking love this show its so fucking great
the timeline being all over the place is actually kind of fun! episode 2 showed us stuff happening, and then ep 3 goes back to the night of ep 1 to show how we got there in the first place, very fun indeed!
literally can't believe miraculous ladybug season five is making social commentary on ai
naurrr this is the episode with the wedding and the fuckass babies its so uglyyyyy and the fucking moustache
not dude's biggest desire being having an ugly ass moustache
this is my personal sleep paralisis demon
dude, Nino's starting a cult this is fucking awesome. i got flashbacks to that one crime noir episode, that was a very funny one
the humour in this show is very under appreciated. or i just have the sense of humour of a toddler
lost count of the episodes
im pretty sure i said this at the time, but them just reversing the love square is lowkey genius. i think it doesn't last very long since adrinette becomes canon, but i wish they kept it and this bullshit went on for another five seasons
safari is lowkey one of the best villain designs in the show, like she looks even more mommy than she normally is!
these dialogues are so fucking funny, i like that they are not shying away from discussing how ridiculous the show is
im starting to think i actually watched this season and just forgot about it as a trauma response (that or i just have faint memories of the fandom discussing the eps at the time)
also, not gabriel being a terrible horrible horrid father
and just imagine being fired from your superhero job ... i would kms
literally speechless.... his little dance
not kagami telling marinette adrien is a total wimp, and she is the one who has to take initiative
I'll say it. I really fucking hate the sentimomster theory (which is now canon). I hated it since the Ladybug episode from season 3. I just don't vibe with it at all. It is what made me not want to watch season 5 in the first place.
And I will say more. I genuinely think that the writers only made it canon since it was a popular fandom theory. Like, we all know how Thomas is just chronically online in this fandom (or was, I think he left?), and a lot of season 5 has fandom motifs all over it. Some of these episodes really read like Spite fanfics.
Now, don't get me wrong. The Ladybug sentimonter and the whole question of morality posed by that episode are great; I don't hate human sentimonsters as a concept. But I don't like Adrien being one. I think this is the point where I stopped keeping up with the season, so I'm not exactly sure of how this will proceed. I'll certainly have more to add in the following episodes.
in other news, I can't even be mad at marinette for saying she'll stop doing something and then just keep doing it cause that's her character in a nutshell
i feel like there's a lot more "princess" and "royalty" motifs this season for some reason
WHY DO THESE RANDOM MUSICAL NUMBERS KEEP HAPPENING
gabriel: no pancake for you, you poor bitch!!!!
absolutely looooove lila, she's such a bad villain, is great
i just love when a middle schooler becomes mayor of paris, this show is so fuckig good
their first kiss was actually so cuteee,
I do like what they have done with Marinette this season. They slowly went over all of the biggest concerning things in relation to how she views Andrien and corrected it; not their relationship comes from a place of understanding each other, and not fanatical one-sided stalking. I also like that they managed to retain her little quirks that made her funny in the first place. Is this real character growth I'm seeing in my screen right now?
I have a lot of questions, mainly about the physiology of senti-beings (saw fanart about it being insensitive to call em sentimonsters, and I get it). Were Felix and Adrien actually formed in their mother's wombs, or was that a metaphor? And how did the peacock get damaged again? Felix's dad died, and he was the one being shown as having used it when Amelie got pregnant (the Amok is linked to his ring). Does that mean that Emilie used it herself when she was pregnant (probably, she linked it to her ring)? Gabriel is a fucking spineless bitch, what do you mean you let your pregnant wife do this shit herself? I'm very confused about the 'we-used-to-be-in-a-throuple-with-nathalie-and-hunted-artifacts-and-fought-snakes' timeline. When did that happen? I thought they got Peacock from whatever excavation they were doing, but Felix's narrative implies that it was given to Emilie by her parents....
I'm also very confused about the 'peacock-to-miraulous-induced-coma pipeline timeline'. I guess the implication is that Emilie should have died, like Felix's dad, but technology has been keeping her alive. IS SHE EVEN ALIVE? Or is that just her CORPSE? Like a cryogenically preserved corpse. I don't even remember how they fixed the fucking Peacock.
Also, fuck secret identities. Nothing is sacred anymore. The other day, they really said, "Luka knows who LB and CN are, so we're shipping him off out of France," and no one did anything about it? Gabriel certainly has the resources to wrack havock outside of Paris. As if he couldn't chase the one guy who he knows who LB is.
My big problem here is that we always assumed from the other seasons (implied) that there was magic involved in keeping the identities hidden. And now I guess everyone was just stupid? Luka knows (justified), and Felix is just smarter than anyone else, so he gets to put two and two together. But I guess Adrien was also smart on that one episode until his smartness got crushed by Multimouse.
Nonetheless, I love the show. Good job, girls, you really did it.
that was cool, dude. the dramatic lighting during the episode is really good; there were some awesome closeups of hawkmoth, with the purple lightning hitting his face, and the scene of nathalie with her crossbow pointed from the shadows also looked really cool
I'll have more to add after pt 2 about the storyline, but so far, the animation has been pretty nice. I like the fighting scenes, they have been super dynamic
again, very beautiful lightning throught the whole thing. the episode looked very beautiful.
A happy ending with the redemption of the villain is to be expected for a children's cartoon, especially when the villain was the father of one of the protagonists. I'm not surprised by it, but I'm still a bit disappointed. I don't know if I like the message of "This guys abused his child and subjected him to emotional trauma, social isolation, and more! but it's okay cause he was trying to bring his dead wife back to life, and he did hurt a lot of people in the process, but in the end, he sacrificed himself" to be shows to children. But I'm not gonna complain because Miraculous's writing team aren't really the best at complicated characters. I definitely think it can be done tastefully in a way that children can understand the nuances, but It's not the type of thing I would expect from their writers. They went with the safest route, and that's okay.
I have always liked Lila. She has always been a very skeany villain, and I am excited to see how she will be like in season 6. I just don't know what her motivations could be; all ridiculousness aside, Gabriel's motivation being a personal one that linked him to one of the protagonists made for a very interesting story. It made for a satisfying, overarching storyline.
Originally, the series was very episodic, and it became a progressive storyline as the lore was introduced via Miraculous Book. I wonder if they'll go back to the episodic format. It's good for a children's show, but it certainly would feel like a bit of a downgrade (for me, at least, who is invested in the progression of it all).
Now, LB really said fuck secret identities. Who fucking cares. She just gave away those miraculous and for what reason. Call me a bitch but I don't think some of those characters deserve to have Miraculous. Sabrina doesn't need a Miraculous, take it back from her. What does Marc need a miraculous for? He doesn't even go here.
Also, they never really explicitly said that F and A were senti-beings huh. Also, I was under the impression Marinette had realized that Gabriel was HawkMoth after representation, but I guess she just... what did she even realize? She was all shocked.
Anyway, this show melted my brain. Clearly, I don't know what just happened
action (is this even canon????)
why was this one after the finale. i feel like I'm hallucinating
ACCIDENTALLY WATCHED IT BEFORE THE PARIS ONE FUCK FUCK FUCK, I THOUGHT THE PARIS ONE WAS BEFORE SEASON 6 BECAUSE OF THE ANIMATION SHITTTTT
This one was basically a big recap of the finale and it serves as a nice introduction to Lila as a villain. I enjoyed it, even if it wasn't a lot of new content. Much of it was actually just rewatching the finally and getting intel on how the characters are feeling, and how a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff was handled in their efforts of covering up Hawk Moth.
Personally, I wish Ladybug had confessed the whole thing to Chat Noir, all of it. I personally think it would have been a differential at the start of season 6. The truth is that, without the Love Square and us not knowing what Lila's motivation is (as of yet), we start season six without a clear personal conflict that is baked into the plot. And I personally really enjoy personal conflict baked into the plot. Chat Noir knowing would have made it for a very interesting thing, to see him juggle the two personas, knowing and not knowing, and how his relationship with LB could possibly change after the admission. But that's just my head canons.
Very interesting that there has been no mention of Senti-beings or an explanation for Emilie being back yet.
I was so shocked by the intro alone that I have rewatched it six times already. I haven't even started the episode yet and I'm already amazed. I saw a lot of fanart of this and I'm expecting to really love this one.
"Hear the message and serve the cock" in the voice of Gabriel is really taking me out, I think I might just blow up.
That was very cute! This was basically a fanservice episode, but it was very cute nonetheless. Now I have to read tons of fanfic on Shadybug and Clawnoir. They have a super fun dynamic. Also, why are they both goth/emo? Did they need to be goth/emo to signify that they're evil in a children's show logic, or do they just genuinely enjoy the subculture? I guess they were still goth/emo after they became good, so I guess that's my answer. I wonder if they like MCR. They should make an MCR feature episode with those two. PUT ME IN THE WRITING ROOM.
new season and now tiktok is canon
I think the new animation is super pretty! Even if it is a bit jarring, I'm still not used to how the characters look now. I'm not gonna lie, the bar truly was in hell, the previous one looked alright most of the time, but we really had some terrible terrible looking episodes; some of those were so rough to look at, they looked unrendered. But I do think it looks nice! I personally miss the exaggeration of their expressions, but I'm thinking that they are going for a more lowkey vibe overall now.
Also, it's kind of cute that they're softly rebooting characters. Aurore looks very cute, and I like that they gave her a newish storyline.
I LOOOVE the animation!!!! I just got to the fight scene! It's so cute and comic-inspired! I think the team watched the Spiderman animation and Puss in Boots and reallyyy liked what they saw. And I like it as well, it looks so cute and fun. I like the aesthetic, but the body movements seem a bit off, and they haven't quite nailed how to do striking impact with this style of fight scene, but it's very pretty.
MAX GETS A TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE BUT NOT LB AND CN?????
omg apology videos are canon to mlbb
okay, I know what I just said about them not being as expressive. BUT I MEANT THEIR FACES,
new season, same old marinette
WHERE THE FUCK IS EMILIE AGRESTE
I'm all for the animation. Absolutely in love with it at this point, everything looks so cute!
I'll say I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of Adrien/Chat Noir. I mean, he has been in the episodes, but they've been mostly centred on Marinette and her pov regarding everything that has happened. I wish we could have more of him, his thoughts and his point of view.
Omg, the plot is actually plotting. There's an actual plot! This is ecxcitingggg! I love me some good old shadow government plotting evil
Really been liking the Villain(s) so far, I enjoy that they're actually being smart.
But for real now, where's Emile? Did they just retcon that.... I swear she was there at the season 5 finale!
I'm still missing a bit more of Adrien and Chat Noir. The showrunners clearly took a lot of the fandom's complaints and worked on them, so why couldn't they give Adrien a little bit more of spotlight?
Also, I forgot to talk about it, but I don't like that Marinette made Alya the next in line for the guardianship of the box. I love Alya. Don't get me wrong, but that's just stupid. Alya is publicly known (somewhat) to be a superhero, more so Hawkmoth definitely knew her identity, so that's just a big risk. I guess Marinette would forget everything if she did have to renounce the guardian role, so her knowing Alya wouldn't be a problem, but still. I just think this would be a nice opportunity to trust Chat Noir a little bit. That was the theme for the entirety of last season! That it's these two together no matter what, and then we have a season finale with no Chat Noir, Adrien and Chat are on the dark about everything that happened, and we are back to how it was on season 4 in regards to LB and CN at least.
I keep complaining about stuff and then the show handles it on the very next episode. Most of my points still stand tho!
THE PANCAKE ANALOGY IS BACK! Honestly, at this point maybe Adrien should just stop having pancakes for breakfast every day.
I find it funny that Luka went to brasil, as a brazilian. Just a fun little thing. Also, my dude what were you even gonna do with the LB earrings?
I really appreciate the narrative device that was having a bunny be the cause of all destruction, as to signify the 'bunny effect' as opposed to the butterfly effect, because, miraculous.
Not Felix just being there and no one questioning it. Please guys, what is going on I'm scared. I don't understand the continuity.
Also, yea I don't know how I feel about the fact that no one knows about Gabriel Moth yet.
OMG! IT'S THE THERAPY EPISODE
There's only one psychologist in Paris hooray! Also, not the canonitization of autism via Max! I think this is really nice. They had been making a lot of nice inclusions with some same-sex couples, and now we're getting some disabled and neurodivergent representation as well. Very cute!
Marinette also need therapy. Someone shove her into that office asap.
omggg, villain outfit revealll! she looks fabb!
I think Felix and Kagami are cute as a couple, even if it happened so randomly.
Omhg? Homophobia in real in Paris????
WHY DOES NO ONE RESPECT SECRET IDENTITIES ANYMORE?
NOTHING IS SACRED IN MIRACULOUS LASYBUG SEASON 6
we're finally the REAL villain of this world.... CAPITALISM!!!!
not the Mime being Mylene's father.
not gonna lie, that mother reveal came out of nowhere for me. I was thinking that, respectfully, Noe looks like a senti-being, but as it turns out, he just looks like a bitch!
THOUGHTS UNTIL THE REST OF THE EPISODES COME OUT
Miraculous premiering some episodes before others and only premiering some of them in certain countries. Never change miraculous, never change.
10 years of this mess and it's still a mess. At this point it's endearing, even if it's not supposed to be. Also, it looks like Thomas is still working on the show... I supposed some evils are truly necessary? Maybe that's why Adrien is still getting no love from these episodes.
I was rereading Over the Wall, great miraculous fic, but it was written in fuckass 2016, and the information that Mylene's pére is the mime was already there... so I guess that has always been canon????? I literally do not remember this at all, but honestly, that's self preservation atp
COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THE TOKYO SPECIAL WATCHING IT RNNNN
Love Kagami mwuah mwuah lover her to death. Awww, it's 2D animation! It's so cuteee! I love how cute everything has been since season 6 started, I looove cute things!!
Awee their little weird kwami things are cute too!
Omgg, supreme mentioned ^^
It's an anime alright. I don't really feel that strongly about it, tho. It's cute, but I'm not that drawn to it as a special (not as much as I was to Paris, anyway). And of course there's a Mecha, gotta love that for us! FUCK THERE'S TWO MECHAS
Now I see what y'all mean... Marinette gets to cuddle Kagami and have a bunch of new girlfriends while Adrien fighting demons over in New York!
