He’d be more than a little wary about getting into a relationship again. His past ones haven’t worked out so well. Thanks a lot Klaus
But something about you would just be so irresistable to him.
The two of you would bond over your mutal love of the arts.
He would try to keep your relationship a secret at first. From Klaus especially.
The Mikaelsons can be...a lot an he would want to keep you all to himself for a while before introducing you.
Elijah smiling in approval when he sees you walking around or sleeping in his button up shirts.
Flowers and chocolates
Surprise dates at five-star restaurants
Late night walks through New Orleans
His siblings literally forcing you to meet them once they find out about you and Elijah
Rebekah would be your biggest supporter. No one ships you more than she does.
Elijah would probably compose a more than a few songs about you
Klaus, Kol, and probably Finn would be suspicious of you at first. He’d probably even have you watched or followed confront you but eventually he would see that your intentions with his brother are pure.
Love bites!
He’d shower you with gifts. Books, diamonds, whatever you want.
He’d probably commision Klaus to pain to a portrait of you.
Cuddles
Tying his ties for him
He’d teach you to play the piano
Teaching you to fight. Your safety is everything to him.
He’d be a little on the clingy side. He’s lost a lot of people. Thanks a lot Klaus
Massaging his shoulders when he’s had a long day.
Long hot baths together.
Forehead kisses!
Hugs from behind
He’d take you everywher. Art galleries, the opera, museseums and fesitvals. He’d take you to continents you’ve never been to and countries you’ve never heard of. He would want you to see everything good and beautiful the world had to offer and then some.
He’d cook for you or you’d cook together. If you didn’t know how, he would teach you.
Furry handcuffs!

You hadn't seen Elijah all day and part of you was worried, yet undeniably giddy. It was like a plethora of butterflies were going to erupt from the pit of your stomach. All day, you were finding sweet little notes, instructing you to do this and go there. It was fairly simple really- find yourself an elegant dress, take some time for yourself, enjoy the culture that New Orleans had to offer. It was a strange request given that the family (and you) were in the height of conflict regarding their never ending line of enemies.
You browsed through the stores in the French Quater, merely passing time and barely noticing anything going on around you. You head was filled with sweet thoughts of your dear Elijah. Yet that didn't stop you from letting out a small gasp when your eyes landed on an A-line/princess scoop neck asymmetrical tulle lace dress that stopped just above your knees in the front and fell to the ground in the back. It was in Ivory and you fell in love with the floral design that spread all throughout the dress. In a way, to you, you just knew this was the dress for you. Without another thought, you asked for the dress to be bagged and purchased and then decided to pair the dress with a elegant gold bracelet and a simple pair of black open-toed shoes.
By the time you got to the Mikaelson compound and walked up to the room that you shared with Elijah, the sun was beginning to set. You were proud of yourself, it was nice to take some "you" time and relax. Upon walking into the room, you found yet another note waiting for you on the bed. Smiling like a fool, you caress the note before reading it.
Meet me by the garden at 7
Elijah
You loved how elegant his handwriting was and once again, butterflies began building up in your stomach. You didn't know what he had planned but you were definitely excited. Looking at the clock on the wall, you noticed that it was a quater past 5 and decided not to waste another moment standing there. You showered and pampered yourself, keeping your makeup to a fair minimum and putting your hair in a half-up style that shaped your face wonderfully. When you put on your dress and exaimed yourself in the mirror, you were pleasently surprised to see how the dress outlined your figure beautifully, and truth be told, even you were a little blown away.
Checking the clock again, it was fifteen minutes before seven and added some finishing touches to your makeup and hair before walking out of the compound and towards the garden that had become a secret haven for you and Elijah.
Your garden an enchanted garden. It was wide and open, sloping gently down to a cosmic-blue river. A copse of cypress pines flanks us on one side, with a thicket of peaceful beeches standing guard on the other. Apple trees run through the center of the garden, casting a lake of claw shadows onto the grass. In autumn, the fiery brilliance of their leaves is a sight: scorching-oranges, burning-browns and molten-reds. Then they drifted to the ground as silently and carelessly as an ash cloud, settling in to their eternal rest.
You found him leaning against a tree, one that the two of you had carved your initial into. The lamps overhead illuminating his handsome face. As always, Elijah was dressed in a suit and tie. He looked completely relaxed and serene and when his beautiful chocolate brown eyes landed on your face, he broke out into a lovely smile that made your heart skip a few beats. He walked towards you at a slow pace, not rushing anything, just cherishing every moment that he was spending with you. He took your hand in his and brought it up to his lips, placing a tender kiss upon them. "As always, you look stunning, Y/N." His voice was smooth like silk and you felt your face burning up slightly. He always did have this effect on you, no matter how much you tried to deny it.
You inclined your head at, a small smile playing upon your lipstick stained lips. "I could say the same for you." You respond simply as Elijah gathers you into a loving hug and place his lips upon your own, kissing you beneath the thousand stars the brightened the New Orleans sky. Everything was perfect, this moment, being with him, touching him, you cherished every second. Elijah stepped away from you, holding out his hand for you take, which you did gracefully as he lead you down the long stone path throughout the garden and into an empty building which surprisingly, you had never noticed before.
He lead you through the door and at first you couldn't make out what was in front of you but when Elijah turned on the lights, you were blissfully amazed to see that it looked like a dancing room, but somewhat abandoned. The fading baby blue walls were high and had drapes placed over them in some high fashion, old chairs stacked in a high and meticulous manner, table pushed to the side, slowly wasting away. Your attention immediately went to the large chandelier the hung in the center of the room, lighting up what looked like a dance floor. Truth be told, it was beautiful to you, a once-a-beauty sense. It was like Elijah had read your mind because the next thing to come out of his marvelous mouth was, "I figured you would like it, you always did have an appreciation for old things." and you couldn't help but laugh, knowing he was making a quip remark about himself.
'Cause honey your soul can never grow old, it's evergreen
Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory
Without another word, Elijah disappeared behind some of the chairs and then you heard a sweet melodic song beginning to play. When Elijah came into your eyesight again, he held out his hand once again. "May I have this dance?" he asked, his eye twinkling with pure love. Swiftly, he pulled you into his arms and the two of you begin to sway back and forth, your bodies nearly married to each other. You began stroking the back of his neck as you laid your head on his chest. You felt safe and secure in his arm, loving every moment, loving how intoxicating his scent was. "Y/N?" Elijah spoke, never releasing you from his hold. You merely close your eyes and hum along with the music. "Yes?" you answer back, listening intently to the sound of his beating heart.
I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways.
Maybe it's all part of a plan
I'll just keep on making the same mistakes
hoping that you'll understand.
Elijah let out a low sigh, pulling away from you to look at you. It was amazing to you how even though you saw him almost every day, he seemed to become only more beautiful in your eyes. Elijah place one hand on your cheek and gently caressed it, making you smile to yourself and lean your head in the palm of his hand. "I know things have been difficult lately, but I just wanted to remind you how much you mean to me. Thank you for remaining by my side even when I was at my worse." Your eyes shoot open, a sudden burst of tear threatening to spill over.
But baby now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are, oh
You move your hands from his neck and move them to his face, your thumb tracing the outline of his lips. "Always, Elijah." you simply say, planting a tender yet hungry kiss on his lips. Elijah returned the kiss with the same tenderness making you smile against him. It was no lie that being with him was difficult but truth be told, you wouldn't have it any other way. Elijah wrapped his arms securely around you, resting his head on the small of your shoulder. You hum softly to yourself, this must be what heaven felt like.
So baby now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Oh darling, place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are

You sat on the could ground, a shiver going through your body. You don’t know how you got here, and what you were doing in the first place. When you heard steps behind you, you turned around.
‘Y/N?’ You heard a voice say, you looked at him confused, when he stepped forward you took a step back.
‘How do you know my name?’ You asked him, he stopped stepping forward.
‘It’s me, Elijah.’ He said with an out reached arm.
‘I don’t know you sorry.’ You told him truthfully, but you couldn’t feel guilty when you saw hurt appear in his eyes.
‘Why are you out here?’ He asked, you looked around and shrugged your shoulders.
‘I don’t know, some dropped me off here and told me to wait, until some came to find me.’ You told him, he looked around before stepping forward.
‘Come on I’ll take you back to mine, so you can get something warm on and something to eat.’ He said, you felt easy around this stranger, but you were uneasy.
‘I don’t know.’ You said cautiously.
‘I promise I wont bite.’ He said, you smiled at that comment before nodding and walking over to him, as he led you to his place.
It had been month since you had been found by Elijah in the woods, you have also met his family, Klaus and Rebekah, they all seemed to know you, but you didn’t remember them. It hurt you to see them all broken when you said you didn’t know them, but they welcomed you into their home without any problems.
‘Y/N, can you come here please.’ You heard Rebekah shout you, you got up and made your way into the kitchen and saw that all three of them were standing in the kitchen.
‘What’s up?’ You asked them, they smiled.
‘We want you to try these.’ Klaus said, you looked at him and then back to the stuff in front of them.
‘What are they?’ You asked confused as you took in the random selection of foods.
‘When we knew you, some where your favourite foods and the others, not so much.’ Rebekah said, you took in the variation of foods in front of you, the Nutella looked really nice, but the salmon didn’t look so good.
‘Okay?’ You asked confused.
‘Would you like to try them, to see if they bring back any memories?’ Rebekah said hopefully, whilst the other two looked on, hopeful. You glanced at the items. It couldn’t be that bad right? You questioned yourself. You nodded.
‘What should I do first?’ You asked, Rebekah handed you the jar of Nutella, you took a spoonful and placed it in your mouth. You had to stop yourself from moaning it was so good, so when you smiled widely, and licked the spoon you quickly placed the jar down before you delved back into it. You glanced the boys and couldn’t help but the see all their emotions going through them. You were more intrigued with Elijah, there was a connection their so when you reached for the next item, you tried to ignore it.
‘I’m sorry I don’t remember much.’ You told Elijah, he looked shocked but then he smiled and shook his head. He had come to see you like he did every night, he would pop in and ask if you needed anything, but you usually shook your head no.
‘It’s fine.’ He dismissed it. You shook your head.
‘No it’s not, I can see it in all your eyes. I was something to all of you, more so you than the others.’ You told him, he took a seat next to you on the bed.
‘What am I really to all of you?’ You asked, wanting answers. He smiled as he unbuttoned his suit jacket.
‘Do you really want to know?’ He asked you, got comfy facing him and nodded.
‘To Rebekah, you were like a sister. She and you took to each other as soon as you met her. You both just clicked and didn’t separate.’ He told you as he looked out your room window, glancing at you a few times.
‘To Klaus, I think he sees you as a sister as well, he would out everything before you and he wouldn’t let anything get in the way of you.’ He continued telling you about Klaus.
‘For me, well… you were the light of my life, I didn’t really live properly until you came into my life and I just feel for you completely.’ He told you honestly, you took an intake of breath.
‘You loved me.’ You said, he glanced at you and nodded.
‘I still love you, but since you disappeared, and your memories were wiped. When I found you in the woods that day I thought I had you back, but when you didn’t realise it was me, my heart broke into pieces.’ He told you honestly, you felt sorry for him. You complimented on where or not to say what you wanted to but when your finally chose to you, you placed your right hand onto left cheek, gently turning him to face you.
‘Whatever we had, before the memories where taken… I still feel it.’ You told him, looking it his eyes, you saw shock and then love.
‘Deep down, I know we had something, something meaningful but I just didn’t want to say something in case I was making assumptions but…’ You were cut off, when his lips were pressed firmly against your lips, he placed his hands onto your cheeks, you were stunned, so when he pulled back you were upset.
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to-‘ He started but when you pulled him forward with his suit jacket and crashed your lips together, you smiled into it. When you pulled back you rested your head against his.
‘Can – can we try us?’ You asked unsure, Elijah pulled back and looked at you.
‘Just slowly, I know somethings there but your obviously completely in love with me, but all I feel just now is… it’s like your my crush and I’m back in school again.’ You told him honestly, he smiled widely before pressing a kiss against his forehead
‘Of course.’ He said, as he looked at you. You smiled widely at him but couldn’t help the blush creep up onto your cheeks.

Imagine: You are in a long-term relationship with Elijah Mikaelson and is very happy with it. One day, when he requests you to go over to his house to meet oficially his siblings, Hayley accuses you to being with him only for his money and power, which leaves you heartbroken.

Back then, when you were nothing but a naive teenager, you used to dream about true love, wondering every single night, whilst watching the stars, how it would feel like once you met him. Would you recognise the one right away? Or it would take some time for you to realise it? Man, you were one hell of a weird kid.
However, your questions would only be entirely answered years later, in the exactly moment Elijah Mikaelson walked into your life.
It was a saturday late afternoon, you were walking alone through one of New Orleans’ streets, pondering if you should go home or head to the bar to sip on a glass of bourbon. At last, you chose the alcohol. The week had been a mess, with college and everything, therefore you were allowed to get a bit tipsy, just for this once. Yet, a couple of minutes before you arrived to your destination, a tall figure grasped your left arm, leading to a minor scream to leave your lips, and dragged you to a dark alley. There was no doubt he was going to kill you, for evil was carved on his bright hazel eyes.
You did not die, though. No. Elijah, who was nearby, in one of his endless attempts to take care of his younger reckless brother, heard your broken whimpers and came to your rescue. The whole thing happened so fast, you were so shocked, that you only regained your senses once he carefully got you inside the Rousseau’s. You still remembered him softly talking to your cousin Camille, assuring her that you were perfectly okay, and then whispering a gentle goodbye to you both.
No one had ever treated you so kindly like he did, which indeed mesmerised you. With a sigh, a little after his departure, you shyly asked Cami about him and she sharply warned you to stay away from the Mikaelsons. She said they were no good, not even the one who had saved you. Of course you were not able to believe her words. A person like Elijah… Definitely no. You were left intrigued, though, so you went searching, questioning everyone, digging deep, until you found enough evidence to uncover his darkest secret: his vampire nature.
Although the discovery had gotten you surprised, you had already grown too attached to him to let this break you apart. In the mean time of your survey, you developed a great friendship with him; telling him about your life, your secrets, your fears, everything! No person in this world owned more your trust than the mocha eyed Original. This was probably one of the main reasons why you fell insanely in love with him; which helped, afterwards, to built the beautiful, strong relationship you had now.
“Y/N, are you ready?” His voice echoed from downstairs. “We have to go!”
“I’m coming!” You yelled back, putting on your favourite earrings and applying a small amount of perfume. Grinning to yourself in the mirror, you finally left the room, moving straight to where your beloved boyfriend awaited. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
The man snatched your hands and kissed your knuckles, a proud smile lying on his lips. Staring at the gentle figure, while he took you to the luxurious car, you realised you would have regretted very much if you had followed your cousin’s advice to stay away. The older Mikaelson was the perfect match to you, like two puzzle pieces made to fit together.
“You seem to be distracted, darling.” Elijah pointed out, slightly worried, as you could tell by his tone. “Is there something wrong?”
“Not at all, babe.” A smooth giggle made its way out of your lips. “I’m just thinking of how much I love you.”
His traits quickly softened upon hearing that.
“I love you too.”
The next twenty minutes were rather silent while he drove you to the fanciest restaurant in town. It was your six month anniversary and, being the huge fan of great gestures that he was, the brown haired Mikaelson planned a super sweet date as reminder of how much he loved and cherished you. Those being his exact words, obviously.
“You’re going to turn me into a spoilt brat.” You muttered, his arm tight around your waist whilst you walked towards the place’s entrance. “I mean, look at this!”
“I just wanted to make this night special for you.”
“Oh, darling!” Suddenly stopping the walk, you stood in front of him. A faint light allowed you to see his handsome face, your fingers tracing his skin afterwards. “You don’t have to spend any money to make nights special. You are what makes my nights special.”
“Would it be wrong if I say I’m actually happy that sick vampire tried to murder you that day?”
You laughed, slapping his arm.
“Of course it would!”
Smirking gladly, Elijah pulled you into his embrace and placed a passionate kiss on your lips, tasting all of your flavour. In your whole life, no guy had ever made you as nearly nervous as your current boyfriend did when he kissed you. It was like a butterfly riot in your stomach.
“Let’s get inside.” The noble Mikaelson said, pecking your cheek tenderly. “Our table is waiting.”
You mumbled a yes and reached for his hand, intertwining your fingers as you entered the restaurant, having a feeling that this night would undoubtedly be a lovely one.
It was past eight in the morning when you parked your silver car outside the Mikaelson mansion. Elijah wanted to properly introduce you to his family, despite the fact you had already met them in distinct occasions; according to your boyfriend, it did not count unless he was with you, so, there you were, standing in front of his home sweet home.
You slowly made your way to the huge wooden door and gave to it two solid knocks. If you were to be honest, although you had been with them before, you were still quite nervous. Elijah cared too much about his family, therefore you sort of felt the need to be at your best in front of them so they would give you their full approval.
“Is there someone here?” Your voice was not loud, actually, it was more like a whisper. “Elijah?”
“Come inside.” A woman demanded, clearly annoyed, while opening the door. It had been swung open so suddenly, you nearly fell facing the cold floor. “They are not here yet. I guess you can wait on the living room.”
Once you were inside, your eyes wandered throughout the room, examining everything you could. Finally, they landed on the grumpy woman, who was sitting with arms crossed on an apparently comfortable chair. She was obviously beautiful. Had straight brown hair, green eyes, high evident cheekbones, the whole package. However, one other very shocking thing caught your eye: the slight grown bump. Was she pregnant? If so, why had not your boyfriend told you about her?
“Uh, I’m sorry, but who are you?” You muttered, a bit nervous. “I don’t think Elijah mentioned you to me.”
“Hayley.” She retorted. “And you must be the holy Y/N Y/L/N. He can’t shut up about you.”
A goofy smile slipped upon hearing that.
“I guess you must be proud, huh? Got yourself infinite power and money by getting involved with the Mikaelsons.” Her words were sharp and hurtful. Your eyes grew wide for you did not want to believe she really had said that. “Aren’t you ashamed? I heard he pays for your every desire and gives you these incredibly posh gifts. Treats you like a fucking queen. But I know you’re nothing more than a gold digger.”
“It’s not true.” You managed to blurt out, your hands already shaking and the tears ready to stream down. “I love him. More than anything in this world!”
“You love his money. His power.” Hayley’s laugh was cold, emotionless. “Not him.”
“Don’t you dare say that again.” This time you hissed, angry. No one had the right to question your integrity like this. “Plus, my relationship does not concern you.”
“It’s true, isn’t it?”
She never got an answer, though, because you ran and drove as far as you could from that place. Gosh, no one had ever made you feel so small and worthless. How dare she doubt your love towards Elijah? He was pretty much the only man you had truly loved in your whole life! And you could not care less about his possessions. Or the power he held. It meant nothing. All that mattered was his love towards you.
Your phone, which had been carelessly thrown in the passenger seat, kept beeping during the trip back to the tiny flat you lived in. It was probably Elijah, wanting to know why you were not there to meet his siblings. Oh, if only he knew the mean things you had heard… You swallowed thickly, struggling to sound as normal as you could be, and picked up.
“Hey, darling.”
“Y/N, where are you?” He quizzed, sounding reasonably upset. “I thought I would meet you at my house half an hour ago.”
“I’m sorry, ‘Lijah.” Your reply was merely a whisper. “Something’s come up and I had to take care. I’m really sorry.”
“That’s fine, my love. I’ll see you later, then?”
You sighed and bit your bottom lip, puzzled. After today’s events, you sort of wanted to be alone for a few days. Do some thinking. You were not entirely sure yet.
“Uh, I’m going to Mystic Falls.”
“What?”
“I need to see my parents. Don’t worry.”
“Why are you acting so strange?”
“I’m not. My little sister is sick and I need to check up on her.”
“Fine.” Elijah had given up on finding out what was wrong. At least for now. “Still, I want to see you before you go.”
“No. I mean, I’m already leaving.”
“Huh?” You could practically see the wrinkle between his eyebrows while he exhaled. “Don’t do this again, please.”
“Do what, exactly?”
“Shut me out whenever there is a problem.”
“I assure you I am fine, darling. I just need to go and see my baby sister. I’ll be back soon.”
“We will talk about what happened when you get back.”
“Okay.” You swiftly agreed. “Bye.”
With one last sigh, Elijah hung up the phone. Ironically, outside your car, a thin rain was pouring; droplets sliding down the window’s glass, just like the sly tears were falling down through your cheeks. You understood it was a necessary lie, but you hated it anyway. It made you feel like you were cheating or something. Simply disgusting.
“Alright”, you thought, sucking a deep breath and trying to shake the sinking feeling in your stomach, “Put it together.”
Ultimately, you stepped out, quickly going to your building’s entrance, trying not get wet. In the way to the lift, you clumsily bumped into the caretaker, almost making both of you have an unpleasant meeting with the solid ground. A whispered “I’m sorry” left your lips. For a split second, you wondered if he was going to give you a speech about being reckless. It was not case, however. Maybe he saw your broken state and took pity on you, for Mr. Smith only patted your back, saying you shouldn’t worry. Gently nodding, you smiled, or tried to; after that, you walked away to your flat, which, by the way, never seemed so colder.
In five minutes, tops, you had packed everything you would need to spend a week away at your parents’. This was probably not your smartest idea, yet, you figured it would do good for you to keep your mind clean from all the New Orleans bullshit. Before your departure, you took in your hands a portrait that was positioned on the nightstand next your bed. It contained a photograph of you and Elijah, smiling happily to each other whilst the wind blew your hair back. Once more Hayley’s words crept into your mind, making you wince in pain and put the photo down.
“I’m sorry, Elijah.”
Wiping a insistent tear, you left behind your new found home, sure that you would be better when you return.
Much to your disappointment, the seven days had gone by in a blur. You were sitting on your old room’s floor, gathering your belongings and carefully placing them inside your bag. Regardless the fact you were glad to be heading back to your loving New Orleans, a part of you was insecure to be facing Elijah again.
Speaking of him, he had tried to call you several times during the week and texted you like his life depended on it. Nevertheless, trying to live up to your own promise, you replied just the enough amount for him to not get worried. Not shutting him out completely from your life, however, did not make you feel less petty to lash out on him your frustrations.
“Y/N?” Your mum softly called out. “Are you ready?”
“Almost.”
The lovely lady sat on the corner of your bed, shooting you an inquisitive glance. From the minute you popped up on her doorstep until now, she had asked what had happened, why you looked so sad. Although you urgently desired to tell her the full story, you could not bring yourself to do it. No one else but you should suffer for your own selfishness.
“How come Elijah did not come alongside you?”
“Uh - Oh, he had to take care of some family business.” You replied, shoving the rest of the clothes inside and closing the bag. “Next time I’ll bring him.”
“I’m excited to meet the man who finally stole my baby’s heart.”
“Mum!”
“It’s true, though.” She grinned. “Now, come on, I’ve waited long enough.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Tell me what is wrong with you.”
“I’ve already told you there’s nothing wrong.”
“Yeah, let’s pretend I’ve believed that lame excuse.”
“Oh my God, woman, can’t you let go?” You retorted, skeptically gazing at her and getting back on your feet. “You won’t, will you?”
“No.” She crossed her arms, quirking a brow. “Spill the tea, sweetheart.”
Realising your mother would never allow the subject to die, you finally cave in and told her exactly what had drove you to come back to Mystic Falls for a visit. How Hayley falsely accused you and how it had hurt to hear that when you deeply loved the sweet mocha eyed Original. In the very end, Y/M/N had her lips pursed, while a few tears insisted on streaming down your red cheeks.
“Oh, Y/N…” She ran her thumbs across your face, wiping it clean. “I don’t to see you sad. I honestly think you should talk to Elijah, explain what happened. You mustn’t hide your feelings for him.”
“I just don’t want to cause any trouble.” You mumbled, the sinking feeling hitting your stomach all over again. “He’s so wonderful to me, mama! Hayley didn’t lie when she said he treated me like a queen. I’m not worthy of such adorable person.”
“Now listen to me” The woman hardened her traits, obviously wanting to look serious. “Don’t ever think you’re not deserving of love, because you are, alright?”
“But mum…”
“Don’t argue with me.”
“I strongly think you should listen to your mother, my love.” A deep masculine voice asserted, rapidly gaining full attention of the two women. “Hello, Y/N. Mrs. Y/L/N.”
“E-Elijah?”
“That’s my cue to leave.”
As your mum left the room, the Original vampire smoothly moved towards the bed you were sitting on and quickly took a place by your side. During a brief moment, both stayed quiet; his hand reached for yours, linking them together. You cleared your throat, uncomfortable, and raised your eyesight to stare deep into his, which was soaked in a mixture of feelings.
“What are you doing here?”
“There is multiple answers to this question.”
“Stop being so mysterious!” A shy smile appeared on your lips.
“I came because I was worried. First you leave New Orleans unexpectedly, then you barely reply my calls, messages… Urgh, don’t ever do that again.”
“I’m sorry, I never meant to push you out like that. I-I just needed some time.”
“Time from what?” The familiar crinkle formed in between his eyebrows. “You don’t love me any more, is that it?”
“No! Never. Gosh, my love for you is something you should never question.”
“Then what is it?”
“That day, when you pushed me to go to your so I could meet your siblings, I met Hayley instead.”
“Oh.” He looked away, regretful. “I should have told you about her before. She is carrying Niklaus’ child.”
“It’s not the problem and I’m not finished yet.”
“Sorry, go on.”
“As I was saying, Hayley welcomed me into your home. A little time after that, she began to be extra rude to me, saying I was with to steal your money and wear your pride as a prise. It left me so disturbed… I never imagined people had such a low idea of me.”
“She did what?” The Original queried through gritted teeth, eyes narrowed. “I can’t believe Hayley went that low!”
“I know it doesn’t justify my actions, but I want you to comprehend I was hurt. That is why I came to Mystic Falls.”
“Y/N, you don’t have to apologise or feel guilty about it. I understand why you desired to be left alone.” He pulled you to his chest, caressing your back and planting a kiss on the top of your head. “I will solve things with Hayley once I get back to New Orleans.”
His intoxicating scent flooded your nostrils, giving you jitters of pleasure and happiness. It was solely one of the little things you had missed; after all, being away from your soulmate was not easy at all. Without further thought, wishing to have his lips glued to yours, you straddled him, connecting your arms around his neck.
“Someone is eager, I see.”
“Oh shut up, Barney Stinson.”
“I can’t believe you haven’t forgotten this nickname.” You giggled. “Come on!”
“Then kiss me already, dork.”
“Your wish is my command, miss Y/L/N.”
Resting his hands on your hips, Elijah briskly captured your mouth, beginning a heated make-out session that could have lead to something else if you had not come down to your senses and stopped him from unbuttoning your jeans. The brown haired Mikaelson pouted, frustrated, whilst you laughed out loud, jumping out of his lap.
“Aw, I’ll make it up to you later, honey.”
“I’ll be holding on to that promise.”
“Fine by me, now come, I want to introduce you formally to my parents. And my annoying little sister as well.”
Elijah smirked, nodding.
“Y/N?”
“Yes?”
“I love you.”
“Me too.”
With this, you walked out of your childhood bedroom, glad to be loved by the man you used to dream about on this very place.

You held the white stick in one trembling hand while your other was pressed against your stomach. The two blue lines blurred before you as tears pooled in your eyes. It shouldn't have been possible but what else could it be? You woke up nauseous almost every morning, you could barely keep anything down without vomiting it up a few moments later, you went to the bathroom every few minutes, you were gaining weight like crazy and you hadn't seen your period in over three months. All of your symptoms pointed to pregnancy but how could that be when your husband was a member of the living dead?
X
You sat on the edge of the porcelain soaker tub gripping the rim until your fingertips ached. You'd taken at least ten more tests since the first had come up positive leaving you surrounded by plus signs and double lines. It wasn't possible. Or at least it shouldn't have been possible. These tests, this baby, this day had defied everything you knew about vampirism.
You jumped nearly dropping the latest test as a knock came at the door. "Y/N? Darling? Everything alright? You've been in there for some time now." Elijah said from the other side of the bathroom door.
You swallowed hard and with glassy eyes looked between the door that separated you and your husband and the white plastic stick that could and would change everything. "I'm fine," you said quickly followed by a wince. Your voice was thick and hoarse with emotion and there was no way that he hadn't heard it.
"Are you crying?"
You swore softly. "No." you lied.
"Your lying. Can I come in?"
You sniffed. wiping your tears away with your sleeves. "Yeah."
Elijah Mikaelson opened the door, filling out the doorway with his slender frame and signature suit. He entered the bathroom and dropped down to his knees in front of you. He cupped your face, "Talk to me," he purred, his voice as smooth as velvet and softer than cotton.
You showed him the test and he frowned. "Y/N--"
"I know it's not possible. Or at least it shouldn't be possible but I have been miserable and completely confused for the past three months and I tried to ignore it but it just wouldn't go away and I don't know what else it could mean. Just...please...say something."
Elijah smiled, chuckling softly as he planted soft and tender kisses in your hair, on your cheeks, your nose, your chin and finally your lips. "You are incredible," he whispered, eyes sparkling with unshed happy tears.
"What?" you sniffed.
"For a thousand years I have tortured and kicked myself about not being able to give you a child and now..." he looked down at the test and then at your stomach, his smile broadening, "A miracle," he said with a chuckle. "We're going to have a baby," he beamed before leaning in for a kiss.

You were sat reading a book, well meant to be but you were staring of into the distance. You were brought out your thoughts when you felt a hand on your shoulder. You jumped slightly, but you looked up and smiled when you saw Elijah.
‘Hey, you okay?’ Elijah asked him.
‘Yeah.’ You replied nodding. You didn’t make any eye contact, he raised an eyebrow but brushed it off.
’Okay.’ He said, you turned back to your book, Elijah walked into the kitchen. He heard movement in the seating area, and turned around to see you standing at the counter edge, playing with the edge of your sleeves.
’Are you okay?’ He asked sitting the plate down.
’Why do you love me?’ You spluttered out, you looked down at your feet, not making any eye contact.
‘What?’ Elijah asked, with both his eyebrows raised.
’Why do you love me? I’m nothing, I’ll pass soon, you’re not going to. Your wasting years with me.’
’Don’t say that!’ He said, using his speed and pinning you against the wall. You gasped and looked up.
’Why?’ You asked with a raised eyebrow
’You are not allowed to say that.’ He said annoyed.
’You are beautiful, amazing kind and caring. Your everything to me.’ He said, gently rubbing your cheek with his fingers.
‘I am not wasting my time with you, I’m living my life with you.’ He said, leaning in closer, so his lips were almost touching.
‘But I’m not going to be around forever.’ You said, tears threatening to fall.
‘Who said? What happens if I’d like to make you live forever, what happens if you’re my soulmate?’ Elijah asked, you finally made eye contact
‘I love you Y/N. I have since I meet you at the festival, nothing and I mean nothing is going to change that.’ Elijah said, pressing a kiss on your lips. When he pulled back you looked up, smiling slightly.
’That’s why I love you.’ Elijah said, you nodded before pulling him down and hugging him.
’Okay.’ You replied.
‘Feel better now?’ Elijah asked.
‘Yeah.’ You smiled. Elijah smiled back and pulled you in for a tight hug.
‘Good, let’s go out.’ He said and you nodded, taking his hand and leading him to the front door.

Author’s Note: Sorry this took so long it’s my first request and I wanted it to be as perfect as I could possibly make it!
It was Elijah’s night to make dinner and as always the delectable scent of his cooking lured you downstairs and into the kitchen.
“Mm.” You said upon entering the kitchen. “I don’t know what you’re cooking but as usual it smells delicious!” You walked up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist.
He chuckled. “Thank you, my sweet.”
You kissed his shoulder blade, spreading your hands along the strong, muscular planes of his chest. “I love you Elijah Mikaelson.”
He turned off the stove and spun around to face you. Taking either side of your face in his hands, he leaned down until your faces were mere inches apart. “I love you more, y/n”
“Impossible,” you smirked.
He wrapped his arms around you. You placed your hands on his chest. He leaned in further and kissed you. Slowly, your eyes closed and you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing him closer.
That kiss was perfect. It could have gone on forever and neither one of you would have noticed. And then you heard it. A soft knock at the doorway.
You broke apart, startled. Elijah shoved you behind him. He tensed, barring his fangs ready to protect you from the world itself if necessary.
Elena, stood wide-eyed in the doorway of the kitchen.
Elijah relaxed his stance and began straightening his shirt collar. “Um, hello Elena.”
You dipped your head in greeting. “Elena.”
“Hi.” Elena said in a meek voice followed by a tiny wave.
You laughed breathily.
“How did you get in here?” Elijah asked, folding his arms across his chest.
Elena’s lips moved but no words came out.
A smile tugged at your lips. You wondered if it was Elijah making her nervous or if her own embarrassment had left her tongue-tied. Maybe both, you decided.
“Elena!” you exclaimed.
“I knocked but no one answered!” she finally said. “And both of your cars were in the driveway so I figured that either you two were avoiding me or something terrible happened to you! I’m sorry! I don’t usually go barging into other people’s homes but I really, really need to talk to Elijah! So I tested the door…and it was unlocked…and then I found you guys…in here….kissing…”
When Elena finished she was nervously wringing her hands and looking down at her shoes like a child who’d gotten caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar. It was so adorable that you were nearly in tears trying to keep yourself from laughing.
Elijah cleared his throat awkwardly. “And what is that you need to speak to me about, Elena?”
The doppelganger sighed, throwing her hands in the air. “Klaus is up to his old tricks again.”
You and Elijah groaned in unison. You’d had enough of Klaus and ‘his old tricks’ to last you a lifetime.
“Well, in that case I’m going back upstairs to—“
“Keep the bed warm?” Elijah finished.
You gaped at him in shock. He was rarely so playful in front of anyone outside of his immediate family.
From the corner of your eye you saw Elena’s cheeks turn bright red.
“Elijah! We have a guest,” you scolded, gesturing to Elena.
“What?” he laughed.
You playfully swatted him on the arm. He returned the favor by swatting you on the behind. You yelped in surprise.
“No, no! It’s fine. I did break into your house after all…” Elena’s cheeks reddened further.
“What is wrong with you?”
Elijah shrugged. “I love you. That’s all.”
You smiled and pecked a kiss on his cheek.
Striding past Elena and out of the kitchen, you spoke, “Just yell if he steps out of line, Elena.”
The two snickered as you made your way upstairs and into the master bedroom.
“Please excuse my crude behavior, Elena.” You heard your husband say from below.
“No, it’s fine. You and y/n are adorable together.”
“Thank you. I’m glad you think so.”
“How long have you been together?”
“Since I was human,” you could almost hear the grin in his voice.
“Wow… What’s it like?”
“What’s what like?”
“Being with the same person for over a thousand years… I can’t imagine being with just the same person for one thousand years.”
“I suppose that it’s all about the person. I can’t imagine a day without my y/n at my side.”
Climbing into your bed you beamed with pride and pleasure.
“That’s beautiful, Elijah.”
“It’s true too.”
She laughed. “So how did you meet y/n?”
“We sort of grew up together. Our fathers were in business together, my father was a wealthy landowner and y/n’s father was a contractor. My father owned the land and y/n’s father built the houses on the land.”
“So your family was supportive?”
Elijah snorted. “Our mothers were supportive and so were my siblings. Rebekah especially. Y/N is like the sister she never had. Our fathers on the other hand were furious.”
You shuddered at the memory.
“Why?”
“Who knows? I remember Mikael went out of his way to make y/n uncomfortable every time she visited our home. Y/N’s father, thankfully at least tried to be civil when I was over.”
“That was nice.”
“Yes, but when I left he would yell at y/n so loudly that the whole village could hear.”
A chill crept up your spine, you could still hear the roar of your father’s voice in your ears.
“Oh.” She said flatly.
Elijah snickered lightly. “It’s okay though. We got through it. And we’ll get through anything else that life throws at us so long as we are together.”
Your lips twitched, fighting a smile.
“That’s really beautiful.” Elena said softly. “You really, truly love her, don’t you?”
“That woman up there is my world,” you heard him say.
“That’s amazing. When I was little my mom used to read to me stories about princes and princesses finding their soulmates and true loves. When I grew older I tossed the whole idea of true loves and soulmates aside. It all sounded so…childish and unrealistic. And yet here I am looking right at in you and y/n.”
Elijah released a breathy laugh. “Well if true loves and soulmates are indeed real then there is no doubt in my mind that y/n is mine. I love her like I have loved no other. Her very existence completes me. Her eyes, her scent, her personality bewitches me… I remember that on the night of our hundredth wedding anniversary party I looked upon the face of my wife with such overwhelming love that I was afraid I might burst before the first toast could be made. Just days before the celebration I was wondering if it would always be like this, if my love for her would ever fade. Nine hundred years later I think it’s safe to say that the answer to that question is no.” He laughed.
But you weren’t laughing at all. You were crying. Your husband’s words had brought you to tears. His voiced feelings hit you where you needed it most. You too had shared your husband’s worries and for centuries you dreaded the day when your husband would lose interest in you or when someone new would manage to catch his eye. Now you knew that that day would never come.
You heard Elijah sniff a couple of times.
You swallowed your laughter. He felt it too, you realized, the relief, the overwhelming euphoria of being and feeling completely content and satisfied in your relationship and in the one you love.
“So what was it you needed, Elena?”

When Elena departed, Elijah resumed cooking dinner and made a quick and sharply-worded phone call to his brother, Klaus.
When he was done, he entered your bedroom with a gleaming silver tray in his hands. He grinned at you, sitting the steaming tray with your dinner on it at the foot of the bed. “I thought we might eat in bed for a change.”
He leaned down and kissed your lips. His lips were soft and warm against your own but kiss remained strong.
You stroked his cheek, his stubble scratched at your palm. “I love you with all of my heart, Elijah Mikaelson.”
His cheeks colored a tad. “I knew you were listening.”
“You meant it? All of it?”
“Every last word.” He confirmed.
“I feel the same,” you told him. “I’ve never felt as strong, or as confident, or as beautiful or as…whole as I have in these last one thousand plus years I have spent at your side. When I’m with you no matter where I am the world is brighter, kinder. Thank you for being my husband, Elijah and thank you for making me your wife.”
Author’s Note: Thank you so much for reading. And thanks to @badhippiehabits for requesting.
