Review: The Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Hey booklovers!! ✨ I finished reading the sorcery of thorns like two weeks ago and have been so wrecked to write a review due to exams, but here you go!!
Synopsis ✨
Elisabeth Scrivener has spent her 16 years at the great library of Summershall where there are no ordinary books but grimoires. One night she discovers that a sorcery has been done in the library and the price it has taken from her makes her do all she can to protect the place she was brought up in, the library. She was taught that all sorcerers are evil but somehow she ends up with a sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn and both of them go about their mission. Meanwhile, she learns many of the things she has learnt is a complete devastating lie.
Review ✨
As an avid reader and a fantasy fiction lover, I found this book so close to home and unputdownable. It's wellpaced and never fails in impressing a reader. Margaret Rogerson has done a brilliant job in developing her characters as well as the brilliant plot. It is worth a read for every fiction or fantasy lover to be precise.
I'd give this a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Bittersweet...
LONG blog ahead.
So I’ve been MIA quiet a while now, been dealing with a lot of things mostly trying to be an adult. Since today is a holiday and finally I was able to rest from the chaos of “the corporate world”. I decided to give an update to tumblr and to my readers (if any). This blog is informal, because why not? ✌️
Reading- this was actually one of my hobbies back then when life was easier. It was part of my past times after school or in between breaks or even during a boring class discussion/reporting. I started reading when I was in high school during our library class. Yes, library class because there were times that our teacher is absent or busy with other stuff or i think when they were just tired to teach our “notorious” class. 😂 Going back, I still remember the author of the first novel that I read, it was Charles Dickens. Yes, classic but it was so good that I started to love reading. I started to borrow novels from anyone, and have their e-books forwarded to my phone via infrared/bluetooth haha. Until I’ve found my 1st favorite romance author- Nicholas Sparks . My first romance book titled “A Walk to Remember” which is also my favorite romance movie of all times. The next thing I know I was already searching for Harry Potter’s books/e-books. HP is my ultimate fantasy series favorite and I’m very much amazed to J.K Rowling for her creativity and imagination. Yeah, I know they are popular but I’m very much thankful to them for writing books that open a door for me to love reading and even try to write more. (yeh, I do also love writing before, but I’ll tell you about this in another blog, let’s focus on the reading first)
I’ve started saving allowances for me to be able to buy books, and it was one of the fulfilling feeling; smelling the pages of the newly purchased books. I’ve lived for those times when reading was a part of who I am. Then college came, and everything changed. I changed. And the biggest regret of that change is I stop reading at all. I don’t know what happen but as far as I know, I was lost those times. I couldn’t bring myself to grab a book, sit and just read. I wanted to but there were out-of-the-universe-idk forces inside me, tiring me and making me uninterested. It was chaotic. I thought my love for reading is adamant, but I was wrong, totally wrong. Time passed by and all I can feel every time I saw posts about reading books or posts of novels or anything related to it is bittersweet. I’ve tried a lot to bring back the sparks, I bought some novels and it ended just on the corner mostly unread.
Here comes 2021, and I just had this feeling that I need to read. I want to read. I longed for it. So, I ask my friends who are happy readers for any insights and recommendations to start up my reading journey. They gave me a lot of options, one of them even shared an access to her google drive of e-books collections. Wow! Lucky I am to have them as always, being supportive and understanding and just being there for me. Thank you constants!
Since I am a sucker of romance with a twist of tragedy, I decided to read my 1st book for this year, It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. And, that was a good choice, since after reading it I feel the joy I have during my high school days. I feel like a good part of me is back and it lights up my mood, it makes my mind calm and happy. It made me craves for more. Though, I am now a slow reader compared before when I can finish a book in a day. It is still an achievement for someone like me who lost it for a long time. This is something I know is worth celebrating. Now, I’m into my second book already which I purchased a week a go, slowly but happy that I’m reviving this kind of love. The feeling is fulfilling.
So if you felt the same way, if you were a bookworm before who lost the sparks in reading, I understand you, I feel you and you just need to take the 1st step to bring back your self from reading. It will take time, and that is okay. We all have our own struggles, but please take 1 step a day and eventually it would be better. Look for the genre that interest you most and start from that, don’t be pressured to finished it in a day. Take your time, process every lines and take a deep breathe every chapters, congratulate yourself every time you finish a chapter until you find yourself in the last page. It would take 1 finished book to light up and to crave for more. Ask for insights from a bookworm friend if you have, or go search the web for your 1st book.
I can then you can. Just do it. In this trying times where we live in uncertainties, reading can help you calm your self, understand things and be somewhere without even leaving the four corners of your room.
Happy Reading! 🌼☕️

Lovely things to do together with a gf: reading together 😍 📚
Repost @thepagesfullofstars Hi bookworms! 😊📖 Today I'm really excited to share with you my opinion about No Vain Loss by M.C. Frank @mcfrank_author , which is the final book in No Ordinary Star series ✨ The story takes place in year 2524 when all the diseases and human imperfections are eliminated but with them also all emotions. A soldier Felix is summoned to the North Pole by the Clockmaster but there he meets Astra, a fiery girl who shouldn't have been born. Together, they a mysterious library and will unveil secrets that weren't supposed to see the light of the day. . I was so excited to finish this amazing trilogy and I really enjoyed it! This last book has even more suprises and plot twists, and I loved the characters' developement and how everything was wrapped up 😊 If you like dystopian fiction, this series is a really fresh and engaging addition to the genre, that I would highly recommend! 😆 . . . #books #bookstagram #book #bookstagrampl #read #reading #stars #noordinarystar #dystopia #ya #yalit #candles #cozy #booklove #bookgeek #bookish #bookphoto #ilovereading #ilovebooks #bookphotography #friyay #happyweekend #readingislove
