As much as I liked Andor season 2 I couldn't help but feel some whiplash with all the time jumps. Each jump made it feel like we were missing part of the story especially when it came to Bix it felt she was all over the place. After last season I expected to see her really dealing with the aftermath of the torture but she went from having bad dream and getting assaulted again or being on drugs and blowing a guy up to just being fine and pissing off with not much of an explanation as to how she got to each point. It just felt like we were skipping part of the characters story.
And it wasn't just Bix all we got of Cinta was Val hadn't seen her in a year and show up to knock a guy off to a another year later and Val still hasn't seen her and something we don't know about happened to her and she need to recover to dead. And after the seconded ark it seemed like Wilmon was going to stay with Saw but in the next ark he's just on Yavin with the rest of them (which we did find out how they all got there) and still working with Luthen.
I don't know maybe this is me being a bitter rebelcaptin shipper but wanted Bix to be more then just a motivation for Cassian. Like I wanted to see her be really effected form the torture, I wanted to see if she would go full hog in to the rebellion or be permanently damaged from it or would it what makes her walk away. Instead she was mostly just waiting at home. She was the mechanic why could she be the one to work on that machine for Saw? They could of been really interesting with Bix and show the effect of war with her and the choices that get made in it but she just ended up a trope that's been done how many times already in Star Wars? She just could of been more.
It’s short, but what the heck. I love Jyn + Cassian fluff
Joy. Jyn hadn't experienced a feeling like this in so long, she barely remembered the sensation. She almost panicked from the impact of it. It was so slow, but also so sudden. She was finally... happy. Here, in Cassians arms, she could feel nothing but a sheer joy.
No worry, doubt, longing, loneliness... It was forgotten. So easily... too easily in fact-
She wondered, how in a moment a lifetime of feelings of pain could be replaced by one person.
Cassian pulled back from her kiss and straightened his jacket, chuckling as he ran a hand through his hair. His cheeks were a light pink, and he now avoided Jyns gaze. She could tell he felt embarrassed. Or maybe just awkward. But she couldn't even bring herself to focus on that.
This man. This man in front of her had given her everything. And she never even thanked him for it.
She stepped forward, taking his hands in hers and looking up at him. He searched her eyes, furrowing his brow in confusion.
“Thank you.” She finally said, a hint of a smile on her lips.
“What?”
“Thank you.” She repeated, letting his hands drop to his sides before she pulled him closer to her. “For everything.”
She wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, forcing herself to only focus on this moment.
A distraction. That’s what she is. That’s what she always was. Wasn’t she?
Every day, Cassian felt himself surrounded by thoughts of Jyn Erso. His mind was pulled only in her direction, maybe a few moments away before being dragged back over. She distracted him so intensely, that he even found it hard to hold conversations at times without bringing her up every free moment. Truth is, he liked it. He liked his distraction. But the Alliance did not. He was called in by Draven to speak with the council.
“She’s becoming a problem.” One of them had said, frantically explaining to him. “She’s distracting you and becoming your priority on every mission.”
Cassian crossed his arms as he leaned back in his chair, forcing himself to pay attention. His mind just wouldn’t stop drifting….
“There have been recorded accounts of teams needing to split up..” Draven started, leaning his hands heavily on the center table. “And you started an argument over Jyns safety, and not having the two of you split up.”
Cassian shifted, moving forward as he raised a question, his tone a little too aggressive for comfort; “Where did you hear that?”
“Jyn Erso herself.” Mon Mothma smoothly added, stepping forward to stand beside Cassian. He barely gave her a second glance.
Damn… Jyn-
His thoughts were again cut short as Draven continued;
“We’ve decided that your missions with her will decrease in future assignments.”
Cassian turned his gaze, his eyes narrowed. He felt his stomach tense. How was he supposed to keep her safe if he couldn’t even go with her? He knew darn well that she could handle herself out there… but without him covering for her- or being there to just know she was okay… That made him nervous.
“No- no, That’s not the solution.” Cassian started, leaning forward to rest his arms on the table. “Look- I can watch myself better next time, alright?” Draven raised an eyebrow as he continued to protest, giving up weak excuses.
“This will only make things-“ Cassian was cut off as Mon Mothma placed a hand on his shoulder. The touch was gentle, but her actions felt firm.
“Better?” She questioned, looking down at him.
“I Think it will make things much better.” Draven added, taking his leave. Cassian watched him go before turning to the head-master.
“Look- I think there’s a safer way around this.” He was gesturing with his arms, trying desperately to convince her as he continued. She gave him a gentle smile and listened patiently, but he could tell his arguments were being ignored. He stopped suddenly, standing up and storming out of the room. She watched him go, sighing as she leaned back on her hands rested on the table.
Jyn tossed her bag into the ship, roughly shoving someone else’s things aside so she could prop herself up against the wall as she sat.
“Ready?” Baze asked, loudly entering the ship. Jyn only nodded in response.
“Are you okay, little sister?” He asked, sounding slightly concerned. She shrugged.
Why did she have to bring it up to the council?
Cassian hastily made his way to the ship, K-2SO close behind him.
“This isn’t a good idea Cassian.” The droid stated dryly. “There’s an 80% chance Jyn has already heard the orders.”
“I don’t care…” Cassian mumbled irritably.
When they reached the ship, Cassian stopped, standing behind K2. K2 glanced at him sideways.
“Well?” K-2SO sounded salty. “Aren’t you going to storm in?”
Cassian shoved him out of the way, hesitantly stepping onto the ship before he could change his mind.
“Cassian?” Baze looked surprised to see him, and Cassian quickly stopped. Standing awkwardly in the opening of the ship.
“Baze.” He stated coldly, glancing around the ship. His eyes searched for Jyn, and he silently cursed himself for it.
Why was he always so distracted?
“Did you not hear the orders?” Baze asked, stepping forward. “Draven said he would deliver them himself.”
There was accusation in his tone, but Cassian chose to ignore it.
“Yea.” He added quickly, stepping further into the ship and looking into the other rooms for Jyn. Baze rose an eyebrow in his direction, glancing at K2.
“Don’t look at me.” K-2SO said, stepping off the ship.
Baze rolled his eyes.
“Jyn?” Cassian called into one of the rooms. Jyn startled awake, turning to look at him. She blinked at him, briefly rubbing her face.
“Cassian?” She said in response, sighing heavily.
“Where are you going?” He asked, though he already knew the answer.
“On a mission.” She briskly stated, getting to her feet slowly. She stretched and started in his direction. Cassian stepped out of the way so she could exit the room, entering the main level of the ship.
“Without me?” Cassian wanted to punch himself as soon as the words left his mouth. She looked at him with her brow furrowed as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“Yes. Without you.” She stared at him, though she could see Baze leaving to give them privacy in the corner of her eye. “Did you not get the orders?”
“Oh- no.” Cassian stepped closer, looking down at her. “I got them.”
“Then what are you doing here?” Jyn rose her chin to look up at him. It always seemed to exaggerate his height when he stood so close. She could almost feel his breath on her from their sudden closeness, and she stepped back.
“Do you really think this is the best idea?”
Jyn shrugged. “I can handle myself.”
“I know…” Cassian stepped forward again, rubbing his neck. “But-“
Cassian crossed his arms, leaning back on the wall of the ship.
“So what If I am?”
Jyn pursed her lips and looked down. Good. She had no come back.
“Are you really gonna’ let the council control you like that?” As soon as he said it, Jyn could feel his personal attack. He knew her well.
“It’s not control.” She stated, looking away. “You’re not doing your job right.”
“Do you care?” he challenged, staring her down. She fought the urge to look at him. He pushed himself off the wall, moving forward as he grabbed her arm, pulling her towards him.
“This is a rebellion, isn’t it?” She looked up at him now as he repeated her words. “I rebel.”
“Well-“ she stopped herself. Her eyes drifted to his lips.
Don’t. She told herself, looking away.
“ Let me come with you.” He said, leaning closer to her face. She shook her head.
“I can’t.”
“Ah- come on Jyn.” He chuckled now, his cheeks pushed up lightly by his smile. Jyn inwardly cursed.
Why did he have to be so cute?
“Rebel with me.” He said, pulling her closer. Baze stomped back into the room. He saw them, rose his eyebrows, and stepped back out. Jyn couldn’t help but laugh, but quickly muffled the action with her hand over her mouth. He must’ve thought they were done talking by the quietness of the room.
“Fine.” She said, turning to him. She was smiling now, and she hated herself for it. Disobaying the council wasn’t going to make her track record any better, but she’d do it anyway. For the slightly annoying man in front of her. “I’ll rebel with you on one condition.”
Cassian raised an eyebrow, smirking.
“Alright- Let’s hear it.”
“We steal a ship.”
Cassians smile vanished and he stepped back.
“What?”
“You heard me.” She pushed him out of the ship, glancing over her shoulder every so often to make sure Baze hadn’t seen them.
“What are you talking about Jyn?” He frantically asked, looking worried now.
“Exactly what I said.” She grabbed his hand and started walking ahead of him. Cassian felt his cheeks get hot from her touch, but forced himself to ignore it.
“We’re stealing a ship?”
“Yep.”
“Why?”
Jyn turned to him now, sighing heavily in annoyance. She let go of his hand, placing her hands on her hips.
“Look- you asked me to rebel with you-“ She flipped her bangs out of her face. “So I’m going to show you how to really rebel.”
Cassian didn’t like the sound of that, but followed none the less. Fine. If this was how he’d go against the council, so be it.
