#recommendation request

does anybody got recommendations for good resources to practise reading Japanese?

I'm looking for like something like with mostly hiragana and katakana characters and just a small amount of kanji. something like manga or a magazine would probably be the most fun, but maybe like an elementary school story book would be easier to find?

I need to actively practice my kana so i don't lose it and drilling the list of characters is really boring.

Book Recommendation Request

I really, really enjoyed the film Project Hail Mary due to the gorgeous, sweeping, hopecore, teamwork, friendship, love, redemption vibes.

Now I'm craving a book with that same energy! (Not the original novel, I've read that already.)

The queerer the better. The more Jesus-y the better.

And I know this seems like an impossible request, but something in the horror or horror-adjacent genre would be absolutely delicious! (Doesn't have to be horror though, that's just a pipe dream, any recommendations of any genre are welcome.)

i'm trying to not let the leftover generation to generation brainrot or the currently active chasing jade brainrot convince me to add another drama in my down time, especially since i still have 9 episodes of sound of the desert AND 2 anticipated dramas possibly airing this month AND also an adult job.

but how about a new novel? any suggestions? (i thought about nightscape lights but don't want superfluous wuxia plot i don't think.)

my favorite cnovel i've read so far is deng hua xiao, followed by carrying a lantern in daylight/love beyond the grave. yes, i've read the chasing jade novel. i also tried and dropped rebirth of a star general because i thought it was kind of boring and honestly i remember nothing about it. so yes, stabby girls are my fave but stabbing with angst is really where it's at.

Hey friends, do any of you have recommendations for learning about Buddhism or Hinduism (or other non-Abrahamic traditions)? Trying to branch out more in my comparative religion nerdery, and obviously I can and will also search for resources myself, but I don't know enough yet to evaluate possible options. I love books, but podcasts or YouTube videos (things I could listen to while crafting) would also be great!
