Back home from hopital finally, went in to the er and was admitted yesterday bc of some worrying symptoms post-surgery. they didnt go over my scans with me before discharging me but said things looked okay now and at this point i am pretty sure it was just my body Nottttt handling the oxy well bc i started feeling better once i was off of it for 16ish hours
would it be weird to say I enjoy that we never saw House give up vicodin for good? almost like complete and linear recovery isn't the be-all and end-all of addict's stories?
sometimes trauma is a thing you unpack with your therapist and sometimes you see screenshots from a subreddit focused on teddy bears and you go "oh shit, seeing adults engaging in childlike whimsy makes me viscerally uncomfortable because I was never allowed to act that way as a child". Finally cracked the nut of why it always did that to me.

hi everyone and welcome to another "I'm comparing House's addiction to my own thing" rant. sponsored by episode 3x10 "Merry Little Christmas".
i find it particularly painful that the timing of the deal means house being forced into rehab around christmas of all times. it's like famously one of the top occasions for relapse anyway. i feel like most people find the holidays stressful to some degree (if Christmas is not culturally relevant then I assume it's similar for whatever other major holidays apply but I wouldnt know tbh) even if they generally like the holiday and don't dread seeing their family. and we know house does have more complex feelings about his parents (doesn't like seeing them but cares enough for it to bother him when they visit, calls them at the end of this episode despite not spending christmas together). like recovery when someone's not willing already struggles to have a fighting chance but combined with a triggering general time and very triggering personal time (confict with basically his entire social circle over the Tritter situation + overall his addiction being in the spotlight like never before) it's really entirely doomed from the start
