when I tell you I had to do a double take because I thought these were 2 parts of the same whole joke
I finally listened to Epic the musical, and i don’t know I feel about them changing the story to make Odysseus not sleep with any nymphs or witches, and then emphasizing the “he’s a good guy because he didn’t cheat” thing. especially when the whole thing started with him throwing a baby to its death
i am begging y’all to just stay home and leave us the FUCK alone
Bitch I am neck deep in that warm bread before the basket touches the table.
"pre-game the meal" YOU MEAN EAT A FUCKING APPETIZER?????? LIKE BREAD?????????
*someone offers me free bread*
*I freeze-up for several seconds, weighing conflicting social expectations and then panic and take a huge bite out of my host's carotid artery*
If warm bread makes it to my table, it only means the server has outwitted me on the way there.
I know I’m not saying anything new here but I do think we need to more frequently call out how stupid the “‘they’ secretly have the cure for cancer and other sicknesses but are hiding it because they make more money off sick people” shit is. This is idiotic and people need to feel bad for saying it out loud. It’s such a slap in the face to researchers working their asses off every day to develop new treatments (my aunt has multiple myeloma and is currently part of another clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic, and trust me, the people there actually want her to get better!). But it’s also idiotic because a) it’s just not how things work b) “they” would just charge a shit ton of money for the cure, then, as people would be willing to sell their damn homes to have their cancer cured and c) people in power still die of these things. John McCain was a respected US senator who died of brain cancer, Beau Biden was the sitting vice president’s son when he also died of brain cancer, Joe Biden himself is a former president who is currently battling prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones. If “they” (who? Who’s “they”?) in power actually have the cure for cancer, then wouldn’t the damn American president have access to it, at the very least?
Like so many conspiracy theories, it’s a combination of smug cynicism and the refusal to grapple with how bleak reality can be. False flag conspiracy theorists don’t want to accept that a man could really massacre a classroom full of children with a gun, and these people don’t want to accept that terrible things could happen to our bodies and medical science genuinely is not there yet for us to stop it. I’m tired of people casually saying this shit when it has consequences, especially with public health. A lunatic is running HHS right now due to people embracing conspiratorial thinking with health and healthcare. Just shut up when you don’t know what you’re talking about, man
When you hear Halifax do you think
Halifax, England
Halifax, Nova Scotia
the human mind cannot commit more than one halifax to memory
i do actually think it's crazy that employers get a say over shit like tattoos and piercings and we just let that happen
if you look cool as fuck you become unemployable
i do also mean like, face tattoos, yall know that right
besides the obvious that people should have the right to do what they want with their bodies as a form of self expression, the stigma against face tattoos specifically has a long, violent, racist, imperialist history that stretches across the globe
hey. we're having a talk about employment discrimination
You wake up one day and discover you've lost control over a random action or feeling!
Spin the wheel to find out what!
How bad is it?
Actually way better than before!
Its good
It's alright
It's annoying but I'll be fine
It's pretty bad
IM DEAD
worse than death
Nothing changes/results

"Well you wouldn't find this fantasy so enthralling if it were REAL and happened to YOU" Okay, yeah, no, but you see it's not real and it's not happening to me.
I'd probably find it pretty traumatic if stormtroopers murdered my aunt and uncle, but no one seems to object to Star Wars on those grounds.
On Friendship.
Ppl make fun of that genre of horny post where words are different colors but I actually think it’s funnier that this website even has customizable text colors, something most social media does not have, and that’s like the only thing ppl use it for
Not true. We also use it for House of Leaves jokes
For the love of god stop
When you're choosing what to read next, do you like to vary the genre or stay on a given theme until you lose interest in it?
I just go where the wind takes me
Wrong: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because she was Lord Byron's daughter.
Right: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because that was the closest you could get in 1850 to being a Super Mario 64 speedrunner.
This is how I found out that Ada Lovelace was Lord Byrons daughter
Well, yeah. That's why she received the unusual education which laid the foundation for her later discoveries in the first place. Her mother, Lady Byron, firmly believed three things:
It was her responsibility as a mother to ensure that Ada didn't turn out like her father;
Fundamentally, the thing that was wrong with Lord Byron is that he was a poet; and
The opposite of poetry is math.
Ada Lovelace's biography handily illustrates how well this theory worked out in practice.

Don't worry, I got you!
The most tonally incoherent movie night ever.
As much as I want to support ethical farming practices I will be buying the cheapest bag of frozen chicken thighs as much as the next frugal/poor person which is why animal welfare needs to be legislated, not left up to the invisible hand of the free market or some bullshit. Invisible hand of the free market finds itself around a lot of throats.
