Dear Army,
You think that it’s OK to copycat us by including “The Forge” (aka The Crucible), but at the end of the day, YOU’RE STILL THE ARMY!
-Sincerely,
The United States Marine Corps
PS Despite the lack of sleep and the blood, sweat, and tears shed during my Crucible, it was actually fun b/c my best friend and my two favorite Drill Instructors were part of Group Six. That made my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Ceremony so worth it.

Drill Instructor Sgt. Charles C. Moysey III, with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, ensures the safety of Rct. Alicia R. Meyer, Platoon 4036, Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, as she rappels down the 47-foot tower Sept. 15, 2015 on Parris Island, S.C. If a recruit loses control while descending, a drill instructor, such as Moysey, 25, from Ocala, Fla., will pull on the bottom of the rope, stopping the recruit from falling. Meyer, 18, from Pacific, Mo., is scheduled to graduate Nov. 6, 2015. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
