What recurring joke are you most looking forward to in CATU? (For your PnF ask request!)
Definitely the gag with these two. And obviously can’t wait to hear Isabella say “Whatcha dooin” again. And I kinda hope we see that bird that crashed into Phineas and Ferb’s inventions from time to time...but this time in SPACE.
Doc arrives with Sprocket.
"Oh mind your step, be careful, there's an icy patch there." - Emily Bear
But would we still get to share the jerky?
hmmmmmmmmmm yeah ok
So.
I'm in love with Arrested Development.
And a friend who is also obsessed with it pointed me toward a website that illustrates hidden and recurring jokes within the series, which is fun to read.
But, like, guys.
there are so many more jokes than this website points out.
Like S02E15, when Michael is upset that the contract has been reduced from building 22 houses to 18 houses.
And then you look at the difference between the number of episodes from Season 1 and Season 2:
Season 1 has 22 episodes. Season 2 has 18 episodes.
what a stealthy dig at the network.
Or in S01E22, when the Bluth family is on the Atkins diet and can't have any carbs. Anyway, toward the end of the episode, everyone is in the hospital waiting room waiting to see George Sr. when Lucille says something like "From now on we're all off the Atkins diet."
and then the TV immediately shows pictures of pancakes
There's so much. So much. I love it.
The IT Crowd: The Recurring Jokes
For The IT Crowd, themes might not be the best term to use. In fact, with comedy shows the idea of "recurring jokes" is the best way to portray connecting ideas from the series.
The IT Crowd has one joke that appears in nearly every episode. Anyone familiar with the show in any way knows about this joke. In fact, I already mentioned this in an earlier post. "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
Most commonly asked by Roy, this phrase captures what the show is all about: people who are (a bit) unsatisfied by their jobs and have collapsed into a pattern regarding them. Roy, Jen, and Moss are under-appreciated and not really respected in the office, until the time comes when someone desperately needs them.
Although this does sound terribly sad, it is actually wonderfully comedic. The characters are relatable and the instances where this phrase is used allow viewers to feel their pain, but turn it around into something much funnier than hating their job.
Plus, 9 times out of 10, this really does fix your computer problems...
It's as Ann as the nose on Plain's face.
