The rug is now finished. Well it’s finished as far as the crocheting goes. I’m tempted to partially felt it to make it more solid and less likely to scag. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is an impression of and impressionists sunset painting. It’s been brilliant watching the affects of combining different colours that I might eventually include in some painting - when I find my paints. This will now be my yoga mat anyway - that is if I can claim it from the Beetle who took about 2 seconds to try it out and claim it as her own. I’ve included pictures of the original pile of scrap wool that I started with and the last picture is what’s left which ain’t much!! So all in all a neat way of sorting out old stocks. The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) 

The GRS is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.

The GRS is intended to meet the needs of companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products (both finished and intermediate) and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimised. This includes companies in ginning, spinning, weaving and knitting, dyeing and printing and stitching in more than 50 countries.

Our mills are all GRS certified.

RECYCLED WOOL (W0)

Shoddy or broken wool is torn and recycled wool, which is generally produced from production wastes and worn clothes. The first step is to sort it by colour, next the pieces are washed, and spun into new textiles. This type of wool is becoming more popular as people are becoming more environmentally conscientious. Prato is currently the world’s capital for recycled wool. Usually, the product is only marked as wool, rather than with the specification virgin wool.
