something possessed me to redesign the mane 6 semi based on some of those g5 concepts that were shown ????

unicorns naturally grow more hair than other pony races in this universe, usually on their chins, fetlocks, and the underside of their torso from the chest to the belly. some unicorns may choose to trim this [such as constellation's lack of a beard], but it is commonly viewed as a sign of majesty and natural magical talent. unicorn hooves are also cloven!

Here’s my latest Twilight redesign, and my personal favorite of the two I’ve done so far. I’ve always liked the headcanon that Twilight was actually part bat-pony so I decided that would make a really cool design trait. She’s got the cat eyes and fangs, but it’s not super obvious until she becomes an alicorn. Her wings are of course bat wings rather than feathered ones.

Luna in this universe would be the most pleasantly surprised by this, as she’s also a bat pony. Although, Luna was (in my headcanon) originally a bat pony when she was turned into an alicorn, so seeing a part-bat unicorn was a bit of a shock to her.

Headcanon as well: Luna was also present for Twilight’s transformation. It’s really weird that Luna wouldn’t be there, even if she was helping those with nightmares.

Twilight Headcanons

Twilight is descended from a bat pony on her father’s side. Despite the clear bat pony features, many of the Canterlot elite had assumed her family was purely unicorn due to her horn shape.

Twilight would’ve likely had an arranged marriage when she got older had she not been sent to Ponyville by Celestia. This bothered her, since the only reason anyone in Canterlot wanted her hoof in marriage was her genetics. A slightly curved horn and fully cloven hooves are sought after by the wealthiest unicorns. They supposedly display wealth and status among unicorns.

Twilight is very distantly descended from Luna’s family, hence a strong connection to the stars. It’s where her bat pony genetics came from.

Twilight’s magical aura is golden, like the star in her cutiemark.

Twilight needs her glasses because she has astigmatism. Bat ponies typically have worse eyesight than earths, pegasi, or unicorns.

Twilight isn’t necessarily nocturnal, but she really isn’t a morning pony. Getting her out of bed by noon takes a deadline, and Twilight’s OCD won’t let her miss a deadline.

Twilight has actual OCD, not just her neat-freak tendencies. She keeps a canteen of water on her at all times to wash her hooves, and a comb for her mane. If she doesn’t wash her hooves after she touches a door handle or similar object, she nearly has a panic attack. If she doesn’t comb her hair 10 times before making a decision, she feels she’ll make the wrong one and someone will be hurt. There’s more to it, but those are her main compulses.

Due to her OCD, Twilight has a tendency to stim by tip-tapping her hooves or shuffling her wings. When she’s really excited, she’ll flutter her wings really fast, and may stumble over her words.

Twilight is pretty over-reliant on her magic, and often forgets its limits. However, Twilight has such immense magical power that she also believes she has NO limits. She’s often surprised when she reaches her exhausting point.

Twilight is Bisexual with a slight femme preference, and primarily uses She/Her pronouns.

My primary shipping preferences for Twilight are (In no particular order): Sunset Shimmer, Tempest Shadow, Rarity Belle, Sunburst, Flash Sentry, Trixie Lulamoon, Rainbow Dash.
