Countdown Day 2: Medieval AU

It’s been months since Sora has been home, but fortune has been on their side this time around and they were able to sell off nearly all of their wares to the neighboring countries. They were also able to bring back fabrics, spices, jams, drinks, and toys from different lands to sell back at home. Of course, before heading into the small town Sora rode their carriage to the outskirts of the town, where a few stray houses that had been forgotten from the town lay hidden. They stayed as quiet as they can be, bringing their horse to a stop in front of the few beaten down buildings. They looked around and saw that there was nobody around, Sora then puckered their lips and blew a high pitched whistle. In no time at all a plethora of small children came out and surrounded the carriage. 

“It’s Sora! Sora’s here!” They all cheered in excitement for the return of the merchant. 

“Yeah, I’m here. Swarm me with love and affection.” They said with a cocky grin.

“What did you bring us this time?!” 

“What? Am I only good to you if I bring gifts?”

“Yes!”  All the kids laughed and giggled as they waited for the treats.

“Ouch, but fair. I would have said the same thing if I were you.” With that Sora climbed into their carriage and grabbed a box filled with dolls, balls and wooden swords and brought them down for the kids to pick their favorites. As they scavenged for new playthings an older man and lady came out and greeted them.

The man towered over Sora and said with a gruff voice, “So you finally showed your face again, huh?”

Sora stared him down and gave him a mischievous grin. “What? You’re acting like I don’t belong here and that I don’t own the land you’re standing on.”

“Hmph...” The man cracked a smile and patted Sora’s shoulder. “We’re glad to see you back home Sora.”

“Yes, I can’t help but overthink the worst possible outcomes every time you go traveling. Your letters are the only thing keeping me from worrying myself to death.” said the short and stout woman as she scanned Sora’s face and body for any injuries or illnesses. 

They smiled at the pair and allowed the woman to finish her inspection. “It’s good to be back. All I’ve been thinking about is some good food and a decent place to sleep that isn’t the inside of the carriage” They stretched their arms up and looked out into the open field beyond their home and sighed. “Well, even if that’s what I desire I still have some work to do in town before some proper rest. I’ll just leave some stuff with you guys. Use them as you please ma’am.” Sora turned and unloaded a few boxes of spices, jams, and drinks. Along with yards of fabric with varying designs.

The woman’s eyes widened when she saw the items. “Sora all this is for us? You’re wasting your products giving these to us.”

“Not at all, ma’am. Besides I got all these for a great price. Hell, I was basically robbing the poor fools!” Sora laughed and once they finished unloading they grabbed the reigns and headed into town.

I never even knew that red guitar strings were a thing?! I made this custom wooden ring today with Ebony, Rosewood, dinosaur Bone, meteorite and a red string. Inside these's an engraving that says "We are Ka-tet" (I think this is a Dark Tower reference?).
