#reducingwaste is the theme for #marchmeetthemaker today. In this little jewellery piece I have used an offcut of silk, very often they are from old sample books or dress making leftovers. I use beads that are from antique handbags that have just fallen apart which makes them really special as you can't buy these beautiful glass or metal beads very easily and in this case I have used a sequin made from an aluminium can. These sequins were made by the very talented @suepitkinartist . #meetthemaker #meetthemaker2020 #embroideredjewellery #upcycledjewellery #upcycledjewelry https://www.instagram.com/p/B9Y155_nPCd/?igshid=1vwpf2egqkz60
We have made the decision to change how the dice you purchase from us are presented as we are keen to reduce waste 💜 Instead of dicebags with plastic bags inside ... they will now go out in small brown recyclable envelopes 💜 We’ve received a lot of positive feedback regarding our dicebags however we know that a lot of people do not want or need them as they prefer other storage methods 💜 We will be offering dice storage solutions in the future 💜 We hope you understand our need for change and also hope you think the little envelopes are as cute as we do 💜 #recycle #reuse #reducingwaste #dice #beholdersgaze #smallbusiness #eyegax #happyrolling #diceporn #diceset #polyhedraldice #geeklife #gamerlife #dicegame #gameofdice #diceofinstagram #dungeonsanddragons #dnd #dnddice #ttrpg #tabletopgames #rpg #rpgdice #criticalrole #pathfinder #dungeonmaster https://www.instagram.com/p/B4NkYpzh0U7/?igshid=1mwagaktor4oo
🔸Day 11🔸"Reducing Waste" of #marchmeetthemaker
Waste is an area that is very important to me. This is especially true considering much of my work focuses on conservation and environmental awareness. I will be the first to admit that there is still room for many changes and improvements but I'm happy to say I've made a start!
🔸All my business cards are made from 100% recycled cotton made by Moo. They use offcuts from t-shirts which further helps reduce fashion industry waste and saves the clothing going to landfill.
🔸My brown wrapping paper is wildly recyclable.
🔸The envelopes I use for most of my shipping are made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste paperboard printed with eco-friendly vegetable/water based inks.
🔸I also recycle as much as I can at home and save paper scraps for sketching and note taking.
🔸I do want to move away from using cellophane and hope to achieve this at some point this year. I also have another idea on how to help our local insects which I'm really excited about and will explain when ready.
If you have any tips or advice on how to help manage waste then please let me know! Lets learn from each other :)

Reducing waste is the prompt for day 11 of #marchmeetthemaker2019 This is a subject that is of utmost importance to me. All of our wood is foraged or repurposed. We get most of our wood from fallen branches that we find on our hikes, but it’s not the only source. We often get calls from friends who have had a tree come down so we go and gather what we can and create art out of wood that was meant for the chipper or the fireplace. Foraging materials means I don’t always know what sort of “canvas” I will get as seen in the many types of wood in the photo. I love cutting into a log and seeing what beautiful treasures I get to work with. Other materials I use in my projects and displays and even a lot of our tools are found at yard and estate sales, giving them a second life. Our packaging is all recycled and recyclable as well but that will be in another post for a future prompt. ♻️ I’m always trying to do more and be better at doing my part to take care of our planet. What is one way that you make a difference everyday? . . . . . . . #forageworkshop #foragedwood #meetthemaker #reducingwaste #repurposedwood #inspiredbynature_ #woodgrain #naturalbeauty #naturemagic #forestfolk #naturalmaterials #planttrees #woodisgood #naturelovers #natureflatlays #colorsofnature #heytheremaker #natureisamazing #marchmeetthemaker https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu3uzZDn8sn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1avg1h831s461
There is no such thing as 'away'. When we throw things 'away' they must go somewhere.
