Join Me On My Reflection Journey
Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Iqra and I am an M.Sc. Global Health student, specializing in the Global Diseases stream, at McMaster University. My passion to pursue my studies in Global Health has stemmed from my love of human biology, health and disease. After completing a science-heavy B.Sc. Biology degree accompanied with a minor in Social Psychology, I realized that I wanted to learn more about the social, cultural, political and economic factors that can hinder our scientific ability to deal with diseases.
I created this blog as part of an assignment for my Global Burden of Disease course this semester. We are required to write a reflection for each of our lecture topics as a way of demonstrating a clear understanding of what was discussed during each week's session. The topics will vary from non-communicable diseases to global health research to infectious diseases. I decided to write my reflections using a public platform as a means of not only documenting what I have learnt, but also being able to share my newly-acquired knowledge with everyone who has similar interests within global health as well.
I look forward to sharing my reflection journey with all of you, stay tuned for my first reflection on Global Health Research.
